Warlock Reveal
A full breakdown Warlock Guide can be found here, so this section will serve as a quick overview. If you want to get a full guide then check the link listed above.
The Warlock is a Caster/ Summoner hybrid class with4 different archetypes of Class Specialization as the class mechanic, allowing for a wide range of playstyles that alter the way you play the game.
Legions - summon relentless fodder to overwhelm their prey
Vanguards - become monstrous front-line terrors
Masterminds - seize the battlefield through oppressive shadowcraft
Ritualists - weave doom through blood-etched rites
Each one of these Class Specializations can be further modified by Soul Shards which are made up of two components:
Grant a transformative playstyle passive which alters your core gameplay loop. Summoning demons, controlling them, how effects are chained together.
Binds a specific demon to you.
It is a combination of these two things that make up the core mechanic of the Warlock. And again, if you want a full breakdown of every skill, class mechanic, and all the Warlock uniques, check out our Full Warlock Guide.
Play As The Iconic Butcher
One of the biggest revealed mechanics being added to season 12 is the ability to play as the Butcher, replacing all active skills with Butcher's moveset, hook and all, to go on powerful Killstreaks. Killing enemies while the Butcher will earn you Fresh Meat, a new resource that can be used to earn more Bloodied Items.
Grisly Metamorphasis
One of the main ways to become the Butcher is by using a new consumable called Meaty Offerings on a new shrine type called the Shrines of Slaughter. These can be found within new Helltide events and, when used, will draw large number of mobs to you for you to slaughter as the Butcher.
Ceremony of Slaughter
In Fields of Hatred, a new event called Ceremony of Slaughter completely replaces PvP combat. When starting this event, the player will face waves of enemies to kill and build Kill Streaks on. When the event ends, a The Butcher’s Idol will appear, and interacting it will transform the player into the Butcher.
Kill Streak Mechanic
Kill Streaks are a simple mechanic: kill enemies, gain a Kill Streak. Kill more enemies, gain a bigger Kill Streak. If you die you or stop killing, you lose your Kill Streak.
Killstreaks are marked by five distinct tiers based off current streak’s total:
Killstreak
Carnage
Devastation
Bloodbath
Massacre
When the timer bar fully depletes, the Killstreak is over. Experience and seasonal reputation are gained at the end of a Killstreak, with the rewards scaling up higher the higher your Kill Streak was.
Bloodied Items
Bloodied items are a new item Quality similar to Ancestral coming in Season 12 that directly ties into the Kill Streak mechanic for powerful bonuses.
Bloodied Items have affixes which scale in power based off your current Killstreak Tier. Any item that can drop can potentially appear as Bloodied. This Item Quality tag is non-exclusive, and an item can be both Ancestral and Bloodied.
Bloodied Affixes come in three categories:
Rampage:
Increase in power based off current Killstreak Tier
Applies to Armor
Ex: Killstreak: 7%[+] Move Speed per Killstreak Tier in your Killstreak
Feast:
Apply Combat bonuses based off total kills in your current Killstreak
Applies to Weapons
Ex: Every 40 Kills in your Killstreak, reset 1 random Cooldown
These bonuses are constant and are not tied to Killstreak Tier
Hunger:
Customizes reward offerings, which scale with Killstreak Tiers
Ex: Elite kills will drop Runes more frequently
Applies to Jewelry
Bloodied Sigils
After reaching Torment 1, players can start to see Bloody Sigils which effect Nightmare Dungeon Sigils, Infernal Horse Compasses, and Lair Boss materials.
Each Bloodied Sigil has exactly one Bloodied Affix, the Relentless Butcher. This affixes will spawn an infinitely respawning Butcher as well as increase the difficulty of the given activity by a Torment Tier.
After completing a Bloody Sigil players will be rewarded with guaranteed Bloodied Items as a reward.
And for those who want to push the limits even further, there are rare Bloodsoaked Sigils with even greater rewards, but the difficulty to match a Pit 100.
