Build Overview

Blood Fang Vex!

This build was made in collaboration with Iserrot.

  • Big thanks to Taberaremasen for providing us a Shotgun Mode Piktun.

Here we have four build variants. The common factor between them all is the focus on traditional, heavy-hitter sniper rifles. This translates into gameplay that is a little more paced than usual, but feels great.

Blood Fang

Uses Trouble for some aggro relief during encounters, allowing for fewer interruptions by enemies. Not the highest peaks, but cozier gameplay.

Veinchant

A variation centered on Incarnate instead. It has the highest peak impact damage and is a reliable setup if one wants to perform Boss One-Shots using Bloodletter, a Psion Class Mod and an Order Sniper. It does not, however, have any form of consistent aggro relief.

Rainbow Gal

Chooses between Prismatic Ichor or Prismatic Weaponry to achieve a very high ceiling of damage and consistent one shots.

Recon

Crit chance and consistency is the focus of this variant. It trades a bit of damage for somewhat easily accessible 100% crit chance through the use of Dead Ringer.

A video guide is also available! For PC players: here's a decrypted save file.

Want to focus exclusively on underbarrels? Check out Dronemancer Vex.

These setups are not exactly well-suited to Finnity XXX-L. If you're looking for a build around or that works with that, I recommend Katchenz's or LDKSVB.

Strengths And Weaknesses

  • High one-shot potential of mobs and bosses
  • Trouble provides aggro relief for calm(ish) sniping
  • Aiming?
  • Variants for all action skills
  • Some things can nuke Trouble out of orbit, as is tradition with minions in these games
  • Boss one-shots have have some mechanical stress and gear reliance
  • Aiming?

Build Variants

Can use either Prismatic Ichor or Prismatic Weaponry to achieve a very high ceiling of damage and consistent one shots.

Katchenz was the first around that I've seen playing with this setup. Check out their profile :)

The Fourth Seal

Idle Hands and Cold Iron

  • Reload speed smooths out gameplay. The Cold Iron points can go anywhere you prefer, but as low as they are, they still contribute to our bleed damage.

Portents of Suffering and Grave Fiends

  • Easy choices for increasing our status damage. Bleed will double dip Grave Fiends, though since it's a kill skill it will mostly only be active for mobbing.

Prismatic Ichor or Prismatic Weaponry

  • Prismatic Ichor provides better damage for one-shots through your bleeds, however has lower general applicability.
  • Prismatic Weaponry is a lot more universally useful while still being able to pull off the one shots. It's my current preference for this setup.

Vexcalation

Leeching Attunement, Essence Leech and Blood Is Power

  • The usual powerful combination that feeds us a gigantic bonus kinetic element source.

Bloodletter, Material Components and Ars Arcana

  • Bleed double dips Kinetic Damage. Due to Blood Shot, it will also be double dipping skill damage from Ars Arcana. It is then also boosted by the Kinetic Status damage.

Blood Shot

  • Is only at 1/5 due to the fact we're working with high base damage weapons that are being multiplied by Amp. Maxing it out would not give us that much value from it.
  • The main value we're getting from this skill here is the fact it makes our gunshots into Skill Damage, giving us access to 2 powerful passive damage boosts in Ars Arcana and Blood Is Magic, which Bleed will double dip.
  • Order Sniper, even when fully charged, only gets what amounts to one instance of Blood Shot. This makes the skill itself even less relevant for those, and further justifies the 1/5 for skill damage access.

Grave Harvest and Geistwave

  • For general mobbing use, Grave Harvest is here. Geistwave is for the tankier bosses or if you really just want to see the biggest number.

Weapons

Truck

Great general use sniper, and my main choice for mobbing.

  • Torgue (Impact Mag) is nice for big damage. Also fun with an air-burst enhancement.
  • Daedalus (Underbarrel/Multi-Loader) (Shotgun mode) is nasty.
  • The Big Rocket underbarrel is pretty fun and can do some one-shots.
  • A default, no licensed parts version can roll very high damage and is great.

Rooker

The main firing mode is decent for general use. The big deal here is the underbarrel: it can annihilate bosses by itself, and also act as passive damage during mobbing for with this weapon or any other you swap to after shooting out the needles.

Order Sniper

Piktun. Ultimate 'normal gun' for one-shots of any health bar. Also works well for mobbing, just charge it a bit for the stronger enemies.

  • The highest damage we've seen is above 6k base, with a Torgue (Impact Mag) or Torgue (Sticky Mag) license.
  • A Torgue (Sticky Mag) license is extremely powerful: the sticky can itself proc bleeds which can stack Contamination for you. Once you have enough stacks, manually detonate for a chunky one-shot through guaranteed bleed.
  • A Shotgun Mode Daedalus (Underbarrel/Multi-Loader), alongside either Torgue (Impact Mag) or Torgue (Sticky Mag) is also very good. The sticky mode can apply six stacks of Contamination on the impact hit (three from base hit, three from Blood Is Power), which will nearly guarantee all bleeds on detonation.
  • Jakobs (Ricochet Accessory) is also alright when paired with Torgue (Impact Mag), since the ricochet can hit the ground and hit the boss again. It has lower base damage though, and is a poor strategy against flying bosses.

Order ARTediore AR

Drone underbarrels of your choosing. Kill drone on Order AR, Support drone on Tediore AR.

  • Kill drones can help give a breather during dense mobbing. Support drones work on you and Trouble.
  • Blood Shot + Amp gets snapshotted into the drones.

Other sniper weapon options

Other general weapon options

Any weapon you find comfortable as backup. I like Balor Jakobs Shotgun and Hot Slugger, but any good legendary is a respectable fallback. Honorable mention to Bod of course.

Underbarrels

  • Rooker, Oscar Mike 'Space Laser', Spread Launcher, Knife Launcher, Tasers, Beam-tossers, Kill Drones, Flintlocks, Energy Blast, Turbine Cleaver, Seeker Rockets... the list goes on. Any underbarrel with potent damage can be useful here, or even turned into a one-shot machine.

Repkit

Triple Bypass

With an Amp part. The best general use option.

Order Repkit or any other Purple

With an Amp part and Enrage. The perfect option for one-shots.

  • Bloodletter double dips Enrage's "30% All Damage".

Ordnance

Completely up to you. Utility against viles or just pure damage.

'Crit Knife' Jakobs Grenade

  • 'Crit Knife' Jakobs Grenade is useful at reducing RNG reliance on boss one-shots. It's also a big boost to bleed.

Slippy is nice against vile enemies.

Firepot is a fun grenade for general use. A crit chance variant can stack Contamination somewhat well.

A Heavy Ordnance with high single-shot damage can be strong for a singular shot provided you Repkit right before swapping to it for Blood Shot access.

Class Mods

Undead Eye Class Mod

Main general use option, due to the blood shot retrigger on crits.

Ideal Skill rolls would be:

  • +5 Blood Shot: +2 Guns and Needles

Ideal Stat rolls would be, in descending priority:

  • Kinetic Damage > Skill Damage > Maximum Health Capacity
  • Bleed double dips kinetic and skill damage. Maximum Health for Blood Shot will not help too much because of our already high starting base damage being multiplied by amp.

Psion Vex Class Mod

Great for general use and excellent for boss one-shots.

Ideal Skill rolls would be:

  • +5 Bloodletter: +2 Leeching Attunement or +2 Material Components

Ideal Stat rolls would be:

  • Kinetic Damage or Skill Damage; Status Effect Chance; Skill Crit Chance.
  • Bleed double dips kinetic and skill damage.

Teen Witch Class Mod

Another general use option, and solid option for boss one-shots.

Better amp uptime and shield options but requires manual triggers of Blood Shot to be best used.

Ideal Skill roll combinations could be:

  • +4 or +5 Blood Is Magic; +3 or +2 Corporeal (Bleed double dips both)
  • +3 Grave Thirst; +Any distribution between Blood Is Magic and Corporeal.

Ideal Stat rolls would be, in descending priority:

  • Kinetic Damage > Skill Damage
  • Bleed double dips kinetic and skill damage.

Shields

Guardian Angel

With 150% Amp, this is the ideal shield for this due to its fast recharge and short delay.

Watts 4 Dinner or Amp Shield

With 150% Amp, these are the second best-in-slot. With a Teen Witch, the Watts 4 Dinner becomes overall best.

Enhancements Jakobs EnhancementOrder EnhancementTorgue Enhancement

There's some options here:

Quintain; Multistrike; Purple Piercer Jakobs Enhancement

  • All of these are really good for our jakobs or jakobs-licensed weapons. The crit chance acts as a nice fallback in case of missed headshots, or is simply even more crit chance.

Primadiem; Ouroboros; Purple Power Shot Order Enhancement

  • Excellent for boss one-shots and general use of Order Sniper rifles.

Pumper; Big Banger; Purple Headringer Torgue Enhancement

  • All good if using torgue-licensed parts. The tradeoff is some utility and possibly damage compared to the jakobs ones, depends on which.
  • Pumper can help with the slower Torgue (Impact Mag) projectiles and helps kill enemies that are behind cover. However it does seem to occasionally result in missed headshots due to its special effect, but you can somewhat combat that by aiming above the head, kinda.

For stat rolls, look for:

  • Gun Damage
  • Sniper Rifle Damage
  • Gun Crit Damage/Sniper Rifle Crit Damage
  • Gun Status Effect Chance

Combinations

2/3 High Caliber; 2/3 Deadeye; 1/3 Jacked or 1/3 Heating Up

  • Default setup. Passive boosts. Smooths out your ADS speed or Reload speed - pick what feels most needed.

3/3 Deadeye; 2/3 High Caliber

  • This setup has the highest peaks for mobbing damage.

2/3 High Caliber; 2/3 Deadeye; 1/3 God Killer

  • The most try-hard you can get for boss one-shots. Also works for general use. Maximizes impact damage on the first shot of a fight. 1/3 God Killer double dips on Bloodletter.

3/3 High Caliber; 1/3 God Killer; 1/3 Airstrike or 1/3 Jacked or 1/3 Heating Up

  • Mainly a bossing combo. With Torgue (Impact Mag), this lets you shoot through enemy hitboxes and at the ground for double hits. With enough crit chance, this also means double bleeds or another chance at a bleed. The Recon variant achieves 100% Crit Chance and 100% Bleed Chance relatively easily.
  • Jakobs (Ricochet Accessory) is also alright when paired with Torgue (Impact Mag), since the ricochet can hit the ground and hit the boss again.
  • It goes without saying that this strategy is not very great against flying bosses.
  • Maxed High Caliber messes up Blood Shot retriggers from Undead Eye. It shouldn't be your bossing class mod against the stronger bosses anyway, but keep that in mind for mobbing

Specialization

Specialization 1A Honed Mind
Specialization 2Now With Caffeine
Specialization 3In The Zone
Specialization 4The Best Defense

Now With Caffeine slot is open for swaps, especially when bossing. The main things you'll want to be swapping it for are:

  • Contamination is excellent in general for consistent bleeds and a great swap for boss one-shots.
  • I Am A Gun for a bit of increased impact and bleed damage.

Other options that are not really as valuable are:

  • Overkill is an ok choice for mobbing.
  • One Shot, One Kill has a measly cap in this game, making it pretty weak. Still, it's available.

A Honed Mind applies to our Blood Shot gunshots and Bloodletter, making it a potent mainstay.

The Best Defense applies to all we do and Bloodletter double dips it.

In The Zone is mechanically annoying but not too hard to keep up. Just don't make your life revolve around it too much.

Gameplay

Mobbing

Use Phase Phamiliar or Incarnate or Dead Ringer, depending on your variant.

Start with a Repkit for Amp + Blood Shot. Hit those crits.

Weave in more Repkits for consistency and keep going.

  • When using Incarnate with Grave Harvest, if you can spam-press the interact/use button as soon as an enemy dies, you can pickup the Soul Orb from extremely long range. Do it too late and it will detonate, though.

Bossing

Order Sniper,Borstel Ballista, Stop Gap, Truck, Fisheye and Complex Root are your main bossing choices in terms of snipers. Effectiveness might be dictated by the type of boss.

If you'd rather use underbarrels, pick just about any of the strongest ones from the weapons list.

  • Rooker is an easy underbarrel recommendation because it annihilates anything and is still a sniper.

The loop is similar to mobbing. Repkit for Amp + Blood Shot and hit those crits.

If you'd prefer to attempt true boss one-shots, then you want to very specifically focus on the Order Sniper and/or strong underbarrels.

  • The Psion Class Mod and the 'Crit Knife' Jakobs Grenade come in handy here for increased consistency, as does Contamination.

NOTE: The Torgue (Sticky Mag) and Daedalus (Underbarrel/Multi-Loader) Shotgun mode variants of Order Sniper do not play well with Prismatic Ichor, due to its built-in cooldown. Consider Prismatic Weaponry instead if using the Rainbow Gal setup and wanting to play with that weapon roll specifically.
