Build Overview

This is in my opinion Vex's 2nd best leveling build setup, but likely the best setup later in the game once we have more skill points. For the campaign, I think this spectre leveling build is a bit stronger:

Vex has some pretty insane gun damage scaling right off the rip in the Incarnate tree, with nodes like Grave Implements Grave Power & Grave Sights making it the go to for leveling in my opinion. Not only is Incarnate badass, the augment Witchy Trigger Finger makes it even more so by giving us a huge gun damage increase, and effectively making it so we never have to reload when using the right weapon. Staying in Incarnate should be easy enough with Grave Sustenance, and Mortal Terror allows you to proc those crazy strong kill skills on tough boss encounters. This build has movement speed, survivability and TONS of damage to boot making it extremely versatile. It synergizes well with kinetic weapons due to Material Components, but if you happen to get a super strong elemental damage then just swap these points into Grave Elements and you'll be even more powerful!

Be on the lookout for a throwing knife with the Penetrator Augment as that will guarantee any of your shots to be a crit, making Bloodletter incredibly powerful, especially on boss encounters. If you want to use Bloodletter regardless feel free, I just don't take points into it because for leveling you ideally want to 1 shot anything that comes in your way, and a DoT effect isn't usually the best at low levels without a ton of scaling. It's also crit reliant which may not be great depending on what gun you happen to get while leveling.

Strengths And Weaknesses

  • High Damage
  • Very Fun
  • Feels weak when Incarnate isn't active
  • Needs skill point investment for Incarnateuptime

If you get a super strong elemental weapon, swap 5 points from Material Components into Grave Elements
SWAP 5pts from Fiendish Invigoration or Enchantment into Bloodletter if you have a knife with Penetrator Augment

Gear to look out for while leveling:

Penetrator Augment which comes on Throwing Knives is EXTREMELY powerful, especially when paired with Bloodletter. If you get this you will use it throughout the entire campaign and you can swap the 5 points in Fiendish Invigoration or Enchantment -> Bloodletter

Damage Amp Payload is also potent on Throwing Knives

Guns: Due to the kinetic synergies, almost any kinetic gun should work well. Ideally a high base damage shotgun with a few shots in the mag to take advantage of rate of fire scaling & Witchy Trigger Finger. Shotguns pair very well with Penetrator Augment + Mortal Terror + Bloodletter because each pellet has a chance to proc Mortal Terror so you can easily have infinite uptime on Incarnate in boss fights via Grave Sustenance. Shotguns also generally have very high base damage which is important for Bloodletter scaling, however these are all mainly for boss dps and less relevant for ad clear.

List of strong weapons (will update as I'm playing)
Underbarrel Attachments: Spread Launcher, Knife Launcher, Taser and Shotgun. These have internal cooldowns, you can bypass the cooldown by swapping to a different gun with the same attachment.

Repkits: 200% Amp, Lifesteal, & Movement Speed are likely the best options for smooth leveling.

Equipment

Guns: Look out for any gun with the following underbarrel attachments, they are very strong :Spread Launcher, Knife Launcher, and Shotgun. Shotgun underbarrels are the most common, and are typically found on Vladof guns. Make sure to check vendors and constantly use these. These have internal cooldowns, you can bypass the cooldown by swapping to a different gun with the same attachment.

Ordnance: Throwing knives are all around very good but feel free to use anything you like

Penetrator Augment which comes on Throwing Knives is quite rare, but EXTREMELY powerful especially when paired with Bloodletter. If you get this you will use it throughout the entire campaign and you can swap the 5 points in Enchantment -> Bloodletter

Damage Amp Payload is also potent on Throwing Knives

Repkits: 200% Amp damage (good for shotguns or snipers) 100% action skill cooldown rate, Lifesteal, & Movement Speed are likely the best options for smooth leveling.

Notes

Personal testing notes: Will bosses be an issue with overall damage or proccing kill skills? is 'Mortal Terror + crit chance' necessary? There's much more kinetic damage synergy, will there be high rate of fire kinetic guns consistently for leveling? Do shotguns with multiple pellets proc eldritch blast CDR for each pellet? Can Mortal Terror CDR proc guns and needles insta and just give you infinite repkit uses for healing + whatever buffs your repkit has?
