Core Passive & Additional Ability
Core Passive
Yuzuha's
Core Passive: Whimsical Wonder provides:
- 15% DMG Bonus
- Up to 1,200 Combat Attack to the whole team, when using
EX Special Attack: Cavity Alert,
EX Special Attack: Cavity Alert, Right Now! and
Ultimate: Surrender or Suffer the Mischief.
To get the full Combat Attack buff value, you'll need 3,000 Attack on
Yuzuha before entering combat.
Additional Ability
Her
Additional Ability: The More the Merrier gives:
- Up to 20% Anomaly Build-up
- Up to 20% Anomaly Damage
- Up to 20% Disorder Damage
Anomaly and Disorder Damage are separate from standard DMG Bonus increases, meaning they tend to not be as diluted, resulting in higher damage increases.
These bonuses scale with her Anomaly Mastery (AM), so you will need
Metanukimorphosis as well as an AM D6 and
Phaethon's Melody 2-piece to max it out.
Without
Metanukimorphosis, this caps out at 14%.
Sweet Scare & Flavor Match
Sugarburst Sparkles
The same skills that activate her
Core Passive: Whimsical Wonder buffs will also apply a special debuff called
Sweet Scare. While under this debuff, a Damage Over Time (DoT) effect called
Basic Attack: Sugarburst Sparkles will activate.
This Damage Over Time effect both deals damage and builds the Anomaly gauge.
Sugarburst Sparkles - Max
Once every 8 seconds, attacks done by other Agents will cause
Yuzuha to use up 1 of her "Sugar Points" - her unique resource - to perform an Aftershock attack that builds a fair bit of Anomaly, named
Basic Attack: Hard Candy Shot.
The Anomaly-building hit that happens at the very end is called
Basic Attack: Sugarburst Sparkles - Max.
Flavor Match
Yuzuha's DoT and Aftershocks default to Physical build-up, but if an active agent hits an enemy with an attack that matches that of their character element, then the "Flavor Match" effect from
Sweet Scare will take place, fixing the both the DoT effect and her Aftershock build-up to be that of the matched character.
You can hit the enemy with a different element after, but the effect will remain fixed to that of the first element match.
Any Anomaly built by
Basic Attack: Sugarburst Sparkles and
Basic Attack: Sugarburst Sparkles - Max does not have
Yuzuha's stats factor into calculations. This means they do not dilute Anomaly build-up and won't lower the damage of your other agents.
Be mindful that the rest of her kit will still build Physical, and this build-up does dilute the Anomaly gauge, so in Physical teams especially, you will want to make sure
Yuzuha has strong stats.
Mechanic Behaviours & Swapping
DoT Behaviour
There are a multitude of underlying mechanics that make up her DoT:
- It can Crit, which can at times enable Crit builds for
Yuzuha. - It triggers on-hit abilities for characters, like
Burnice's Afterburn. - It triggers on-hit abilities for items, like
Unfettered Game Ball,
Weeping Cradle and
Kaboom the Cannon, leading to permanent uptime on their buffs. - It does not trigger conditional anomalies, like Corruption or Shock.
Element Matching Behaviour
The element match from
Sweet Scare will trigger on "the first hit by an active character using an attack of their attribute", which means:
- Landing a Physical hit on an a non-Physical Agent will not lead to an element match, as their attack and element are misaligned.
- Once an element match takes place, it cannot be changed unless another
Sweet Scare is triggered (such as through
EX Special Attack: Cavity Alert or
Ultimate: Surrender or Suffer the Mischief).
Yuzuha can element match herself, if she remains as the active character and lands an attack after
Sweet Scare is triggered.- Since only active characters can element match, off-field triggers, like
Burnice Afterburns or
Vivian Ablooms will not count unless they are swapped to when attacks land.
Back-Swapping & Double Swapping
Whenever
Yuzuha uses a skill that'll trigger
Sweet Scare, it will lead to a Quick Assist.
As almost all Quick Assists will deal elemental damage matching that of the character. whoever is being Quick Assisted into will likely be element matched. This means it's the character after Yuzuha on the party line-up that'll get it.
There are some ways around this:
- Back-swap to a different character before the Quick Assist is triggered.
- Double-swap by activating the Quick Assist, then quickly swapping a second time before the first character's attack lands.
Double-swapping is useful if you run
Astral Voice and want to apply the buff to a different character.
This is only practical for some characters, namely
Miyabi,
Grace,
Vivian and
Burnice, as they have a slight delay between using their Quick Assists and landing their attacks or an elementally matched hit.
Aftershock & Parries
Aftershock Mechanics
Basic Attack: Hard Candy Shot will happen automatically when a "finisher" hit (any attack that would kill or trigger an Anomaly) lands.
Be careful as it fully animation-locks
Yuzuha. If you swap to her during it, only
Ultimate: Surrender or Suffer the Mischief can interrupt it. You can swap out of her to another character if this happens.
As mentioned before, it happens once every 8 seconds and uses up 1 of the "Sugar Points".
Sugar Point sources are:
- 2 Sugar Points from
EX Special Attack: Cavity Alert and
EX Special Attack: Cavity Alert, Right Now! - 2 Sugar Points from
Ultimate: Surrender or Suffer the Mischief - 1 Sugar Point from
Chain Attack: Prank Assault - 1 Sugar Point from parries of any kind.
Unique Parry Mechanics
"Parries of any kind" because
Yuzuha is distinct from other characters by having multiple parry options.
Defensive Assist: Replenish Your Fun is the standard parry that comes from swapping during a yellow flash attack.
In addition to this, by holding down the Basic Attack button, Yuzuha will position her umbrella behind her and enter a blocking stance, activating
Basic Attack: Tanuki Cloak.
Successfully blocking an attack will deal some Daze to the target, give 1 Sugar Point and let Yuzuha transition to her Assist Follow-ups, much like a regular
Defensive Assist: Replenish Your Fun.
Assist Follow-up Variants
Similar to her parries,
Yuzuha also has multiple Assist Follow-ups.
Assist Follow-Up: We Have Cookies: a standard, fast version, doing low Daze and building Physical Anomaly.
Assist Follow-Up: Stuffed Hard Candy Shot: an enhanced, slower version, with significant Daze and Anomaly. Its Anomaly build-up on at the end also benefits from
Sweet Scare's element matching.
The enhanced Assist Follow-up will still build some Physical Anomaly, but its final shot triggers
Basic Attack: Sugarburst Sparkles - Max, leading to undiluted element matching build-up.
Similar to
Basic Attack: Hard Candy Shot,
Yuzuha is animation locked during it, but unlike the Aftershock, you cannot swap out during the Assist Follow-up cast.
Combining Skills
By mixing and matching Aftershocks and parries,
Yuzuha can do a large amount of undiluted Anomaly build-up. For example:
Basic Attack: Tanuki Cloak for a parry.- Time your attack to get
Assist Follow-Up: Stuffed Hard Candy Shot. - Swap out to another character and land an attack, triggering the
Basic Attack: Hard Candy Shot Aftershock. - As the enemy is about to attack, swap back to Yuzuha via a
Defensive Assist: Replenish Your Fun. - Go into another
Assist Follow-Up: Stuffed Hard Candy Shot
This alone would give 3 unique uses of
Basic Attack: Sugarburst Sparkles - Max in a short period of time.
EX Variants, Chains & Ultimates
EX Special Variations
Yuzuha also has variants on her EX Specials:
EX Special Attack: Cavity Alert slow, but heavy hitting attack. The default version of her EX.
EX Special Attack: Cavity Alert, Right Now! fast, but with lower values across the board. Only usable after certain moves.
To get the faster variant, it needs to be chained from:
Dodge Counter: Time for Payback~ - Dodge: Did I Scare You? (regular Perfect Dodge)
Assist Follow-Up: We Have Cookies or
Assist Follow-Up: Stuffed Hard Candy Shot
Although it builds less Daze and Anomaly, gives fewer Decibels, and even has a lower Miasmic Shield shred value than her standard
EX Special Attack: Cavity Alert, its more than twice as fast.
This time save means it's usually better, as it gives you more time to spend on other units. A lower Anomaly build-up value can also be helpful at times, like for Physical teams, as
Yuzuha's EX Specials would be diluting the gauge.
But since the slow
EX Special Attack: Cavity Alert is swap-cancellable, unless the Quick Assist prompt is needed (such as for attack shortcuts or
Astral Voice), you can just swap to another unit during it and get a similar time save.
Remaining Kit
Chain Attack: Prank Assault isn't strong, but it is fast. It's recommended to do full Chains on teams where
Yuzuha is present for extra Decibels, bar a few exceptions (such as
Miyabi teams).
If using
Swing Jazz, have
Yuzuha go first for early buff activation. If using
Astral Voice, have
Yuzuha go last to get a Quick Assist prompt.
Ultimate: Surrender or Suffer the Mischief is slow and not outstanding in its values, but it provides 25 teamwide Energy generation. Use it out-of-stun to help set-up resources on other units.
Summary
All-in-all,
Yuzuha is the premium support for Anomaly teams, and she achieves that in multiple ways:
- Boosts Team Damage and Build-Up: She provides 15% Damage, 1,200 Combat Attack and up to 20% Anomaly Build-up, Anomaly Damage and Disorder Damage to the team, making her a top-tier Support.
- Undiluted Anomalies: She has access to a DoT and Aftershock that can match to the element of another character, doing heavy, undiluted Anomaly build-up, meaning she can work with almost every team.
- Engaging Gameplay: Between being able to manually parry enemy attacks at will with her Basics, having variants of her Assist Follow-Ups and EX Specials and restoring team Energy via her Ultimate, she can do a lot more than just being a passive set-and-forget unit.
