Dialyn is a Physical Stunner Agent, who focuses on supporting Attacker and Rupture teams and is incredibly good at what she does.
So general is her value add, that she can slot into every Attacker and Rupture team at the time of her release, and actually performs better than specialised Stunners, like
Trigger or
Lighter, in their own niche teams.
She offers:
And does all of this while being relatively easy to perform with, with an easy flowchart of:
EX Specials to build her gauge, doing them always in a full set of 3.
EX Special Attack: Get Lost!,
Quick Assist: Forward Call or
Chain Attack: Welcome Mat to trigger a Chain Attack window for her Ultimate conversion. And repeat.
There is much more to her kit, so read on below for details.
"Positive Reviews" is a resource tracked via the gauge under her portrait in combat. She can have up to 120 in total, with 90 being required to get her Ultimate conversion.
When loading into a fight, Dialyn will begin with 60 points stocked, and beyond that, there's only two ways of building this gauge:
EX Special Attack: Rock,
EX Special Attack: Scissors and
EX Special Attack: Paper!, henceforth refered to as her "regular EX Specials".When the gauge does hit 90, it'll change colour to indicate that the Ultimate conversion is ready, while simultaneously stocking a Customer Complaint point - the glowing dot on the right of the bar, which has a cap of 1. She can also get this by using
Ultimate: Service Stopped for Number Dialed.
This can be consumed to use
EX Special Attack: Get Lost! by holding Basic Attack.
If at over 90 Positive Reviews, when this move triggers a Chain Attack window, Dialyn will consume 60 Positive Reviews and the next character that gets picked will use an
Ultimate instead of their
Chain Attack.
The Ultimate conversion can also be executed by triggering a Chain Attack window with:
Quick Assist: Forward Call
Chain Attack: Welcome MatThe vast majority of Dialyn's damage and Daze - roughly 70% - comes exclusively from her
EX Specials. Most of her other moves have poor values across the board.
There are 2 types of EX Specials she can use:
EX Special Attack: Get Lost!, costing 0 Energy but uses a Customer Complaint point.
EX Special Attack: Rock,
EX Special Attack: Scissors and
EX Special Attack: Paper!, costing 25 Energy each.
EX Special Attack: Get Lost! behaviour depends on how many Positive Reviews are in stock.
Using it when under 90 Positive Reviews will trigger a reverse Quick Assist.
If used at over 90 Positive Reviews, then it gains a special property where it will also forcefully trigger a Chain Attack window regardless of the enemy's state.
So even if the enemy is not stunned, or is stunned but has no Chain Attack windows left, it will still trigger one. Doing so will consume 90 Positive Reviews instead of 60. Even if the Ultimate conversion from this Chain Attack window isn't used, points are still used up.
If this triggers a Chain Attack window normally though, then it will only consume the usual 60 Positive Reviews, and do so only when an Ultimate conversion occurs.
It has a high Daze multiplier and an additional "Vital View" effect on use, slowing down time for all enemies and holding them in place until it lands. Note that this does not slow down fight or stun timers.
Dialyn's regular EX Specials,
EX Special Attack: Rock,
EX Special Attack: Scissors and
EX Special Attack: Paper! work as a set, where one follows another, having ever increasing damage and Daze multipliers.
The first string of the set is
EX Special Attack: Rock. After using it, there is an 8s window to spend another 25 Energy to use
EX Special Attack: Scissors. Following that, it's another 8s window to use
EX Special Attack: Paper!
Dialyn is completely free to perform any actions between regular EX Special casts. She can attack, swap out and back, even use an Ultimate, and so long as it's within the 8s window, the next regular EX Special cast will follow the string order.
If 8 seconds expire without any skill use, then it all resets back to Rock.
It's very important to not drop the string and always end with
EX Special Attack: Paper!, as the 30% DMG Multiplier and 2s duration increase that Dialyn provides - called "Customer Complaint" - is applied by it,
The 40% DMG Bonus that she offers to the whole team - called "Overwhelmingly Positive" - is also tied to
EX Specials, but it will apply on cast of any Ultimate or EX. By default, it has a 15s duration, but every refresh while the total duration is fewer than 35s adds 10s to it.
Dialyn's regular
Basic Attack: Happy to Be of Service is not a particularly good skill. Its Daze application is terrible, being worse than most non-Stunners.
Using
Basic Attacks can be used as filler, but its damage and - most importantly, Energy generation - is just as bad as its Daze.
With Dialyn's Signature W-Engine,
Yesterday Calls, she gains almost as much Energy by doing nothing while off-field, as by looping her full
Basic Attack string.
The only good move of the string is Basic 4, which can be shortcutted to after
Dodge Counter: Number Unavailable,
Quick Assist: Forward Call,
Assist Follow-Up: Back-to-Back Calls,
Chain Attack: Welcome Mat and
Ultimate: Service Stopped for Number Dialed, at which point it's worth using.
She can also shortcut to it after the final hit of
Basic Attack: Rock, Paper, Scissors, an enhanced
Basic Attack that can be accessed via her regular
EX Specials.
After using
EX Special Attack: Rock or
EX Special Attack: Scissors, their recovery animations can be skipped by linking to this enhanced Basic.
She can access enhanced Basics 1 and 2 after
EX Special Attack: Rock, which then link into regular Basics 3 and 4.
Whereas enhanced Basics 3 and 4 can be accessed after
EX Special Attack: Scissors, which then link into regular Basic 4.
The Daze p/s build from doing a full
EX Special Attack: Rock, EB1, EB2,
EX Special Attack: Scissors, EB3, EB4, B4,
EX Special Attack: Paper! is barely much better than just doing the full regular
EX Special string without Basics.
However, the Energy Generation from doing so is much greater, so it can be useful to do when in need of resources.
Dialyn's Dodge skills are mostly unremarkable, but have some use.
Dash Attack: Sudden Call has terrible multipliers, but it travels far and is very fast, making it an effective gap closer in certain situations (such as after a Shiyu mob wave, or to traverse Lost Void).
Dodge Counter: Number Unavailable has decent stats, but as Dialyn is not frequently on-field, there are few opportunities to use it.
Quick Assist: Forward Call is not good in regards to its multipliers, but it is a way for Dialyn to access her Ultimate conversion. It will rarely see use, but has some niche use cases in
Astra Yao teams.
Assist Follow-Up: Back-to-Back Calls is a surprisingly good skill.
It is the exception to the rule that only
EX Specials have good multipliers, and it can be important in Daze application when out of Energy. As Dialyn is often off-field, it's a great way to swap into her.
Unfortunately, it is one of the slowest
Assist Follow-Ups in the game, but this is remedied by an offset Heavy Attack. This means that it can trigger Chain Attack windows before the skill is over; doing so allows for one to swap out of Dialyn by Chain Attacking on another character and not wasting time on its long animation.
Just be mindful that this can cause issues too, as if the last hit of the skill is what initiates stun, it won't trigger a Chain Attack window, even with Auto Chain.
Chain Attack: Welcome Mat is rather mediocre in its offering. It isn't fast, nor is it slow. It doesn't do great damage, Anomaly application or Decibel build, but it isn't terrible with them either.
As it's one of the ways in which Dialyn accesses her Ultimate conversion though, it's used very frequently, and does what it needs to do well enough.
Ultimate: Service Stopped for Number Dialed is a surprisingly bad skill. It can sometimes miss on mobile and/or small bodied enemies and has the lowest Daze multiplier out of all Stunners by a significant margin.
It does, however, give a Customer Complaint point that can be used on
EX Special Attack: Get Lost! Given the high multipliers on it, even if
Ultimate alone isn't all that great, a combination of it and
EX Specials packs quite the punch.
Most of the effects in
Core Passive: Five-Star Service Hotline and
Additional Ability: External Line have been covered above, as they integrate directly with other skills.
There are a few parts that have not yet been menioned, namely that:
Core Passive provides 2 Flat Combat Impact for every 1% of CRIT RATE she has over 50%, with a maximum bonus of 100 Flat Combat Impact at 100% CRIT RATE.
Refer to Flat Combat Impact Implications in Additional Tips for more.
Additional Ability increases all of Dialyn's
EX Special CRIT DMG by 50% and further increases the damage dealt by
EX Special Attack: Rock,
EX Special Attack: Scissors and
EX Special Attack: Paper! based on the preceding Agent's stats.
Dialyn's Additional requires Attack or Rupture Agents, and this is what determines its scaling. It will add 320% of Attackers' ATK or 400% of Rupture Agents' Sheer Force as fixed additional damage to the last hit of her regular
EX Specials.
Note that as the order of Agents matters, even if the Additional criteria is met, if the Agent set before Dialyn is neither an Attacker or Rupture, the additional damage bonus will not apply.
Core Passive
EX Special
Ultimate
Assist |
Basic Attack
Dodge
Core Passive: Five-Star Service Hotline is a stand-out number 1 priority. A through to E gives CRIT RATE, while every level increases the CRIT to Impact conversion ratio and the Stun DMG Multiplier it provides, making it important for Daze and damage buffs.
EX Special is a close second. With 70%+ of Dialyn's Daze and damage coming from EXs, it's important to have
Ultimate and Chain follows. Quick bursts of Daze from
Ultimate: Service Stopped for Number Dialed can be important to make to stun thresholds in certain routes, and with the frequenty that
Chain Attack: Welcome Mat is used for Ultimate conversions, a damage increase is nice to have.
Then
Assist and
Basic Attack in equal measure. Assists should provide more Daze when well managed, but Basic Attacks - if the enhanced variants are used at least - are likely to keep up.
Both in equal measure is a safe bet.
Dodge can be left at 1, as Dialyn won't have enough opportunities to use it.
Dialyn is in an awkward spot in regards to W-Engines. It's not as if she doesn't have a good alternative to her Signature, but it is such a benefit to her that not having it leads to a significant loss in performance.
Yesterday Calls (P1) provides:
EX SpecialsIt is difficult to understate how strong this W-Engine is for Dialyn. The CRIT RATE mainstat makes hitting the 100% required to max out her
Core Passive trivial.
Arguably the greatest benefit is the Energy Regen. It makes it much easier to stay on your damage dealers and not lose out on resources - when considering how bad Dialyn is at on-fielding when out of Energy, this matters a lot.
For characters that like the field time, it's a world of difference to play with and without it, and even for those that don't, it's not as if keeping Dialyn on for a long time is giving her all that many resources.
As Dialyn's Base Impact is low, Daze % is particularly good and far outpaces Impact % alternatives. Refer to "Flat Combat Impact Implications" in Additional Tips for more.
The CRIT DMG team buff is also very strong, on par with other notoriously powerful W-Engines, like
Blazing Laurel, but applicable to all elements.
When compared to other W-Engines, the combination of Energy and Daze % is likely to yield a good 20%+ difference in Daze application, all the while making it much easier to build Positive Reviews.
Do be aware that due to the short, 10s stack limit on the Daze bonus, it's worth refreshing it before big skills, like
Ultimate.
Hellfire Gears (P1) provides;
EX SpecialsHellfire Gears is the second best option, especially if at higher Phases. Like Yesterday Calls, it also provides off-field Energy Regen - it may be less than half as much, but it's workable.
As Dialyn's
EX Specials are being used frequently, maintaining the Impact % bonus from this is done rather easily. It has the same buff duration as the Daze boost from her Signature, so it's used in much the same way, although be mindful that stacks on Hellfire Gears are calculated separately, as opposed to refreshed.
It might be nowhere near as strong in terms of Energy or Daze, but it's as close as it gets.
Steam Oven (P5) provides:
The craftable alternative would be Steam Oven. Its Energy Regen mainstat is useful, and it's going to outpace Hellfire Gears in terms of resource build. It's the equivalent of 0.6 Energy p/s but at all times.
It is, however, difficult to use well. For it to match the Impact bonus that a Hellfire Gears provides with just its mainstat, Dialyn has to stay at over 60 Energy. The extra Energy it gives isn't enough to make this easy, as it's constantly getting used up on
EX Specials.
It does linger for 8s after using up Energy, but as Dialyn needs to expend 75 Energy for a full
EX Special Attack: Rock,
EX Special Attack: Scissors and
EX Special Attack: Paper! string, it isn't able to keep up.
Routes need to be adjusted to juggle Dialyn's current Energy levels, without overcapping, while still getting enough uses of her EXs to build Positive Reviews in time for stuns. Even if this is achieved, it'd offer less less Daze than Hellfire Gears for a small amount of extra Energy.
Considering Dialyn doesn't need to be on-field all that often, it is only worth using as a Signature alternative if Hellfire Gears is not available.
None of the other W-Engines are likely to do much good.
Precious Fossilized Core can be considered for low scoring Deadly Assault runs, but even then it struggles. Although it does have the benefit of providing Daze % as part of it's W-Engine Effect (as opposed to Impact), the complete lack of Energy Regen makes it unwieldy to use in actual fights.
This resource management issue is applicable to most other W-Engines, even Limited S-Rank ones, like
Blazing Laurel or
Spectral Gaze. They can be used as stat-sticks, but a Hellfire Gears is likely to outperform regardless.
D4 - CRIT RATE
D5 - ATK % | Physical DMG Bonus | PEN %
D6 - Energy Regen
As Dialyn needs to have 100% CRIT RATE to get the full bonus from
Core Passive: Five-Star Service Hotline, running it on D4 is necessary to meet thresholds.
For D5, ATK % is the best option, followed by Physical DMG Bonus, then PEN %. Her personal damage contribution is good, but not to the extent that being picky on D5 stats matters much.
As Dialyn's Daze multipliers are poor outside of
EX Specials, the diminished gain from Impact % isn't doing much for Daze. More EXs will conistently lead to more Daze application than whatever an Impact D6 provides.
This means that Energy Regen on D6 is the best option for all situations: Daze application, Positive Reviews build and even damage, as Impact % does not scale well. Refer to "Flat Combat Impact Implications" in Additional Tips for more.
4-piece
King of the Summit is the only viable option:
Core Passive.
EX Special cost means frequent out-of-stun 4-piece buff uptime.
EX Special Attack: Get Lost! and
Chain Attack: Welcome Mat are used to activate her Ultimate conversion in stuns, refreshing the 4-piece buff for critical periods. It is not only the best set for Stunners, it is ideal for Dialyn as a whole.
As for 2-piece:
Woodpecker Electro if at below 100% CRIT RATE
Swing Jazz or
Moonlight Lullaby if at 100% CRIT RATEDue to Dialyn's
Core Passive, the 6% CRIT RATE from Woodpecker yields 12 Impact, while a 2-piece
Shockstar Disco's 6% is only 6.6 Impact owing to her low base Impact.
When maxed out on CRIT RATE, then Energy Regen sets are likely to offer more Daze application than Shockstar, making them the better option.
If lacking in good substats, or having particularly good CRIT RATE Shockstar Discs, then it can do fine.
Dialyn's teams will be a shell of:
Dialyn | Filler
Dialyn | FillerIt is difficult to overstate how flexible she is. At the time of her release, she is better than even niche Stunners in their own teams, being ostensibly the best pick for every Attacker and Rupture Agent.
Yixuan's primary damage output comes from her Ultimates, and Dialyn gives more of them. Being able to get 2
Ultimate: Qingming Skyshade and still fit in a
Ultimate: Endless Talisman Suppression makes for some of the highest damaging combos in the game. Dialyn's low field-time commitment needs also makes it easy for Yixuan to sustain Technique Point generation, so the two synergise particularly well.
Yidhari likes to on-field to build Adrenaline and Dialyn enables that, all the while offering much smoother combo routes due to her Ultimate conversion. This is one of the few comps that can reliably use double Ultimates in every stun, and the increase in stun duration makes it especially easy for Yidhari to fit all of her burst in.
Hugo thrives in double Stunner teams and his Totalize scales with increased stun durations, so Dialyn is a natural fit. By alternating between her Ultimate conversion and Hugo's own Decibel Ultimate, it's possible to have almost every Totalize in a fight be triggered by Ultimates. If M2 is in play, Dialyn increases its effectiveness by more than 50%, potentially the greatest single damage increase any character has ever provided to a damage dealer as of her release.
Evelyn's best team would have included
Lighter, but Dialyn does everything he does, but better.
All the while having easier
King of the Summit upkeep. Although Lighter is still a competitive choice in certain fights, Dialyn can match or even exceed his performance.
Zhu Yuan's Ultimate may be fast, but at almost 4,000% in damage multiplier, it hits especially hard. With most of her burst being in-stun, the DMG Multiplier increase Dialyn brings can significantly improve her performance, and with M1 or
Astra Yao, allows for even more shotshells to land owing to the increased stun duration.
Ellen's revamp means that her
Core Passive: Sharp-Toothed applies to Chain Attacks and Ultimates. Dialyn's Ultimate conversion significantly increases Ellen's damage potential and the increased stun duration makes it even easier to fit
EX Specials into
Basic Attack: Flash Freeze Trimming.
Soldier 11 has some of the highest Ultimate multipliers in the game. Her best gameplan tends to involve using
Heartstring Nocturne and looping Chain Attacks and Ultimates, so getting an extra Ultimate every stun is a significant damage increase. A
Dialyn |
Astra Yao team is about on par with a
Lighter |
Astra Yao despite no Additional Ability activation.
Corin's Additional Ability is fulfilled by Dialyn and her gameplan revolves around her absurd Ultimate damage. Being able to fit in multiple Ultimates in a stun and having more time in stun with which to hold her attack extensions makes Dialyn an undisputable best pick.
Billy's Additional Ability is fulfilled by Dialyn, and considering that it provides up to 100% DMG Bonus to Ultimates, it's no wonder that getting more of them works out great. When paired with
Astra Yao for more Chains to build up Additional stacks, the comp exceeds any other of Billy's alternatives.
Nekomata's Additional Ability is fulfilled by Dialyn, although it isn't particulary good, the extra Physical Anomaly build that Dialyn provides does help. More importantly is that Nekomata deals very little damage outside of Chain Attacks and Ultimates, so being able to get multiple Ultimates in a stun is great for her.
Manato's damage distribution is disproportionately skewed towards his Ultimate as is. Being able to replace his middling Chain Attack with one significantly increases his damage. Dialyn also may not be an on-fielder, but she can take up more time than alternatives like
Ju Fufu, giving Manato more opportunities to Defensive Assist for Blazing Heart restoration.
Anton has especially high damage multipliers on his Chain and Ultimates. His stun combos tend to be very underwhelming, and he is already reliant on
Astra Yao for Quick Assist looping, so combining multiple Chains and Ultimates from Astra and Dialyn's combined skills makes for some nasty burst.
Harumasa's Ultimate may not benefit from his Core Passive, but at almost 4,000% in damage multiplier, it far outpaces any of his Dash Attacks. The increased stun duration that Dialyn provides means that it's possible to fit in double Ultimates without sacrificing Dash Attacks, with 16-19 being possible depending on execution and Anomaly set-ups.
On top of all the above, Dialyn enables the
Puffer Electro set for every Attacker, making it much easier for them to be played without needing to manage awkward timings, be it around Anomalies with
Chaotic Metal and
Thunder Metal, or with swaps, like via
Hormone Punk.
Boundless Hospitality provides:
M1 is a overwhelmingly broken Mindscape. The RES Shred that it provides is already incredibly strong - not quite as good as
Astra Yao or
Lucia M1s, but close, being a significant increase to a team's damage output based on this alone.
The real power of this Mindscape though lies in the Positive Reviews increase. This makes routing fights a lot easier, as fewer
EX Special casts are needed per cycle. It's particularly good for aggressive gameplay that pushes quick stuns, like with
Hugo, but more than making it more comfortable to build resources, this Mindscape allows for 3 Ultimates in 1 Stun.
By going into stun with 120 Positive Reviews and opening it with an Ultimate conversion, that'll consume 60 as normal, leaving Dialyn with 60 left. Due to the 16% increase in Positive Review gain, 3 regular
EX Special casts on Dialyn would build another 26.1, being just 3.9 points short of 90. As the Mindscape boosts passive regen, this means that it'd only take 5.6 seconds of waiting after a full EX string to be there.
Considering stuns, especially with Dialyn, are 16-17s long, that's more than enough. That means that it's possible to open with an Ultimate conversion, then use another Ultimate conversion, then use a character's own Decibels for one more Ultimate.
Having the ability to do this even just once a run is a sizable boost to scores, but depending on the fight, it is possible to do it more often, making for one of the strongest Stunner Mindscapes in the game.
Note that as this is tied to Overwhelmingly Positive, if Dialyn's Additional Ability is not active, this Mindscape will do nothing!
24/7 Hotline provides:
M2 is a decent Mindscape - it's really just a stat boost. With it, Dialyn's Stun DMG Multiplier goes up to 50%, and given the only source of saturation for this is usually going to be Dialyn herself, it's a rather solid damage increase.
The DMG Bonus is negligible, as it is regular DMG and not a kind of multiplier increase. It does, however, help even out-of-stun, as Malicious Complaint can be applied to the enemy by
EX Special Attack: Paper! long before stun begins.
So it becomes preferable to get it applied as soon as possible so as to get more mileage out of the DMG Bonus.
The Past Never Fades provides:
M4 is a rather lacklustre Mindscape. It can be very useful for Shiyu Defence speedruns at high investment levels, as the 20 Energy boost can really speed up how long it takes for Dialyn to have the resources to apply Malicious Complaint and stun enemies generally.
Past the first few seconds though, and the 20 Energy is not all that significant over the course of a long fight.
As for the ATK boost, it does help Dialyn's personal damage and certainly does add up over the course of a run, but with a non-negligible part of Dialyn's damage being derived from the preceding Agent's stats, the gains from this are partly diminished.
Truth provides:
EX Special damage.M6 appears to be quite strong at first. The raw value in damage multiplier that it provides is frankly absurd, and over the course of a run, it absolutely does add up.
The way this works is akin go
Burnice's Afterburns; all the damage is sourced and scaled from Dialyn. Considering that she has 100% CRIT RATE, gets 50% CRIT DMG on
EX Specials from her Additional and is loaded with ATK from her M4, this isn't weak by any means.
As it functions like an Afterburn, it means that enemy-sided debuffs, like Stun DMG Multiplier and DEF Shred all apply. This further enhances the total damage value it provides, as it's very likely that Dialyn's Ultimate conversion is being used at the start of stun, so most (if not all) ticks will benefit from the increase.
Given that all of this scales with Dialyn, it means that buffs that apply to her significantly increase the damage this Mindscape does. A
Yixuan |
Dialyn |
Lucia team will get much lower tick damage than a
Yixuan |
Dialyn |
Astra Yao team.
In a full M6P5 scenario in stun, it's safe to expect around 250,000 per tick on a Lucia Rupture team, but around 400,000 per tick on an Astra Attacker team. With 4 stuns, that would be anywhere from 15 to 20 million damage, which is around 10-15% of a Deadly Assault's entire health.
This value could go even higher, assuming multiple Ultimate conversions in a stun from M1.
The issue is that, at that absurd level of investment, it isn't taking 4 stuns to kill bosses. So if in a full M6P5 team, where bosses die in 30 seconds, this Mindscape would contribute around 1-3% of a boss' HP. But if Dialyn is the only M6 unit and fights are going close to completion, then there is value in this Mindscape.
Dialyn's
Core Passive: Five-Star Service Hotline gives 2 Flat Combat Impact for every 1% of CRIT RATE she has over 50%, with a maximum bonus of 100 Flat Combat Impact at 100% CRIT RATE.
This is a critical factor to consider when building Dialyn.
Most Stunners have Impact as their Core Skill Enhancement stat. The only exceptions are
Ju Fufu and Dialyn, both of which get CRIT RATE instead.
At base, Dialyn has 110 Impact. Her
Core Passive increases this to 210 Impact in combat, but this is distinct from her base and initial Impact values.
All Impact % bonuses are applied to Dialyn's base Impact, not her Combat Impact.
Even if Dialyn has 210 Impact, almost half of that comes strictly from her Core Passive. A 10% increase on Impact isn't giving her 21, it's giving her 11.
Daze % however, is being applied to everything. It's a separate multiplier - the 27% Daze that
Yesterday Calls provides is a 27% increase to everything she does.
In practice, this means that even with high CRIT RATE values (86.6%), using Impact % D6, 2-piece
Shockstar Disco and a fully charged
Hellfire Gears, Dialyn applies as much Daze as at 100% CRIT RATE with Yesterday Calls and nothing else.
So although Impact can increase Dialyn's stun speed, it is so severely saturated by her Core Passive that it's not worth building over other stats, like Energy Regen, that directly translate to more skill use (and therefore, Daze application).
