Warrior is unique in this game in the fact that currently every race can play it! If you are a fan of a specific race do not feel pressured by the meta. Play whatever your heart desires. For those that are interested in the meta though these are a break down of the races and what they bring:
Night Elf - Current Personal Choice For Alliance
Quickness - 1% dodge chance and 2% increased run speed. This is pretty awesome for protection. Long term given enough avoidance scaling this 1% can go a long way.
Master of Defense also gives us more range when we dodge. 2% increased run speed is obviously amazing as well!
Elune's Light - 10% increased cirtical strike chance for attacks is awesome especially on a 3 minute cooldown. Popping this on pull will help with threat greatly.
Shadowmeld - Not very helpful for tanking but its nice for hiding when you need to afk while questing.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dwarf
Stoneform - Immunity to bleeds, poisons, and diseases will be nice on certain bosses. It also reduces physical damage taken which is nice during bosses that do big physical burst on a long cooldown.
Mace Specialization - 1% increased critical chance when using a mace. It's dece but forces you into only maces.
Big Game Hunter - Crap most of the time.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gnome
Eureka! - Pretty great increasing your damage and reducing the cost of your skills. Solid option for sure.
Escape Artist - Amazing in pvp, semi useful in pve.
Expansive Mind - Not sure how maximum rage will benefit this playstyle. My guess is this is bait but there might be max rage tech in end game?
Engineering Specialization - If sappers are meta again will save you lots of gold.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Human
Sword Specialization - Forces you into swords depends on if you like that. If swords are the best weapon though this will make human OP.
The Human Spirit - Spirit is okay early on as it gives you more life regen. In late game though we don't care about spirit. Unless a new meta forms this is probably whatever.
Perception - Good in pvp, little to no use in pve.
Will to Survive - Depends on what raid encounters it works on. This doesn't work on smites stun in Deadmines so if this doesnt work on a lot of raid bosses this could be bleh.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skyborne - Alliance
Walk on Air - Possibly the most OP skill in the game for leveling. The way you can move in the air with it is OP. Will make open world travel and questing feel so amazing.
Read Ley Line - Probably pointless in raids but good for questing I guess
Elemental Insight - Crap
Wind Blessed - 1% haste is pretty cool especially if we are limited in where we can get haste.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Orc
Blood Fury - Good threat boost on pull. No longer reduces your healing received so not a bust for tanking.
Hardiness - Really good in pvp and situationally good in pve.
Axe Specialization - Same as previous specializations, forces you into axes which can be a good or bad thing. If axes are really good this is good, if swords or maces are better then this is whatever.
Shatter Curse - Situationally good in PVE but when its good its going to be really nice in raids. Especially on magic damage bosses, not many ways to reduce magic damage taken.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Undead
Will of the Forsaken - Situationally good in PVE when tanking
Cannibalize - Really good for questing makes it to where you can chain pull pretty frequently. Especially when combined with
Touch of the Grave
Touch of the Grave - We need more data on this one but it could be one of the best passives in the game for tanking. Just depends on how often it procs and how much its healing us for. This could be insane especially when popping things like
Retaliation
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tauren - Current Personal Choice For Horde
War Stomp - Good when leveling and in dungeons.
Endurance - One of the best passives for us. 5% total health is CRAZY good. 1% chance to hit is also massive. If you want a safe bet Tauren is it.
Cultivation - Really good for creating health potions during leveling. You can now make health pots with First Aid.
Plainsrunning - Amazing for leveling.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Troll
Berserking - Great for threat on pull. More attack speed is more rage is more threat!
Regeneration - Very solid when leveling, but falls off in late game. Potential regen setups down the line but as of right now this isn't super appealing in end game.
Beast Slaying - Bleh
Rapid Regeneration - Really good while leveling between pulls. Useless when actively fighting.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Skyborne - Horde
Walk on Air - Possibly the most OP skill in the game for leveling. The way you can move in the air with it is OP. Will make open world travel and questing feel so amazing.
Skysight - Probably pointless in raids. Better than the alliance variation for leveling though.
Elemental Insight - Crap
Wind Blessed - 1% haste is pretty cool especially if we are limited in where we can get haste.
