Regen Troll Warrior - A Guide To Spirit Stacking

Overview

Hey guys, KallTorak here! This is my Regen Spirit Maxing Troll Warrior guide for leveling & end game.

Why Play Troll Spirit Stacking Warrior?

Normally in combat you do not regenerate any life, this only happens out of combat. Troll players have the racial ability Regeneration which allows in combat health regeneration to happen. Warrior is unique in the fact that they get 80% of their spirit applied to their health regeneration, making spirit stacking warriors actually get some nice healing in combat.

Strengths And Weaknesses

  • Regeneration enables you to passively regenerate health during combat. Normally this only happens when out of combat. This makes Troll one of the easiest races to level to 60 with.
  • Warrior has a very high spirit to health regeneration ratio. 80% of their spirit is converted into health regeneration.
  • Add on Gore Drinker and Victory Rush then you have a lot of self sustain that Warrior normally lacks.
  • Having to stack Spirit means you will be giving up power stats. In Classic WoW there was very little spirit plate gear. A lot of your itemization might end up being very weird.
  • Undead Touch of the Grave scales naturally with your best in slot gear. They have solid regeneration without having to stack spirit.
  • Probably a meme, off-meta build. Will lack scaling long term unless Blizzard intentionally makes gear to support the archetype.

Spirit Stacking Overview

Warrior players get 80% of their spirit as health regeneration. As a Troll with Regeneration you will get a 20% boost to that and also heal 20% of that during combat.

Let's say at level 60 you have 200 spirit. 200 spirit times .8 would be 160. Add the 6 flat health regen warriors get, which is 166 per tick. Then times that by 1.2 for the first part of Regeneration which is 199.2. Then that times .2 for the second part of Regeneration, since only 20% of your total regen continues in combat. That gives you 39.84 health per tick. You get 30 ticks per minute which would be 1,195 healing per minute! It will be fairly easy to reach 200 spirit on launch. Troll Warriors at level 60 have 46 spirit naked.

Spirit needed to regenerate 25% of your max health per minute (level 60):
- 4,000 HP - 1,000 healing per minute - 167 Spirit (121 from gear)
- 5,000 HP - 1,250 healing per minute - 210 Spirit (164 from gear)
- 6,000 HP - 1,500 healing per minute - 253 Spirit (207 from gear)
- 7,000 HP - 1,750 healing per minute - 297 Spirit (251 from gear)
- 8,000 HP - 2,000 healing per minute - 340 Spirit (294 from gear)
- 9,000 HP - 2,250 healing per minute - 384 Spirit (338 from gear)
- 10,000 HP - 2,500 healing per minute - 427 Spirit (381 from gear)

We do not know if these formulas are correct until we hit level 60 and can test ourselves.

Itemization

Helmet is one of the big stat slots, so it gets some of the biggest Spirit numbers in the game.
- Levels 1-24: No fixed Spirit helmets. Use Boar or Whale helmets.
- Levels 25-30: 4-10 Spirit.
- Levels 40-50: 13-17 Spirit.
- Levels 55-57: 12-17 Spirit. Engineers can use Master Engineer's Goggles (17 Spirit).

Standouts: Stormrider's Leather Helm (10 Spirit at 25), Drakefire Headguard (15 at 40), High Bergg Helm (15 at 42) and Mugthol's Helm (17 at 47) all beat a normal Whale roll for their level.

Professions

Professions can be a big part of this build. Most of your Spirit consumables and a few strong pieces of Spirit gear are crafted, but most of it is tradeable letting you buy it off the auction house or from traders.

Cooking (Secondary - every Spirit Warrior should take it)
Cooking makes the best Spirit food in the game. The Smoothies are drinks that give a Well Fed Spirit buff, and Warriors still get the buff even though they have no mana.
- Slimy Smoothie - Cooking 100 / +3 Spirit - Link
- Mrrggl Smrrthle - Cooking 125 / +5 Spirit - Link
- Goblin Deviled Clams - Cooking 125 / +6 Stamina & Spirit - Link
- Calcified Smoothie - Cooking 180 / +10 Spirit - Link
- Spicy Smoothie - Cooking 200 / +15 Spirit - Link
- Wicked Smoothie - Cooking 250 / +20 Spirit & +5% XP from kills - your main food - Link

Alchemy
Alchemy covers your two most important potion types: Spirit elixirs and Troll's Blood health regen elixirs. Health regen from Troll's Blood is very strong for this build, since 1 health every 5 sec is worth about 2 Spirit (Major Troll's Blood is roughly 42 Spirit worth of regen).
- Minor Troll's Blood Elixir - Alchemy 15 / 2 health every 5 sec - Link
- Lesser Troll's Blood Elixir - Alchemy 125 / 6 health every 5 sec - Link
- Troll's Blood Elixir - Alchemy 180 / 12 health every 5 sec - Link
- Major Troll's Blood Elixir - Alchemy 290 / 20 health every 5 sec - Link
- Elixir of Minor Spirit - Alchemy 15 / +3 Spirit - Link
- Elixir of Lesser Spirit - Alchemy 65 / +6 Spirit - Link
- Elixir of Spirit - Alchemy 115 / +10 Spirit - Link
- Elixir of Greater Spirit - Alchemy 165 / +18 Spirit - Link
- Elixir of the Sages - Alchemy 270 / +18 Spirit & +18 Intellect - Link
- Elixir of Sages - Alchemy 275 / +25 Spirit & +2% crit - Link
- Elixir of the Whale - Alchemy 275 / +25 Spirit & +2% crit - Link

Engineering
Engineering gives you some of the best Spirit pieces for your helmet and ranged slots. The goggles are cloth, but their Stamina and Spirit are hard to match, and Master Engineer's Goggles beat most plate helmets for this build.
- Flying Tiger Goggles - Engineering 100 / +4 Stamina & +4 Spirit - Link
- Lovingly Crafted Boomstick - Engineering 120 / Gun, +3 Spirit - Link
- Green Tinted Goggles - Engineering 150 / +8 Stamina & +7 Spirit - Link
- Bright-Eye Goggles - Engineering 175 / +9 Stamina & +9 Spirit - Link
- Gnomish Goggles - Engineering 210 (Gnomish) / +9 Stamina, +9 Spirit & +9 Agility - Link
- Master Engineer's Goggles - Engineering 280 / +16 Stamina & +17 Spirit - Link
- Hyper Deluxe Sniper Rifle Mk XVII - Engineering 300 / Gun, +8 Stamina & +6 Spirit - Pre BIS ranged, but unlikely to be earned (new epic craft, cost unknown) - Link

Enchanting
Lets you put your own Spirit enchants on as you level instead of buying them. See the Consumables & Enchants section for the full list. Skill needed for the key ones:
- Bracers: Minor Spirit (60), Lesser Spirit (120), Spirit (165), Greater Spirit (220), Superior Spirit (270)
- Shield: Lesser Spirit (130), Spirit (180), Greater Spirit (230), Superior Spirit (280)
- Boots: Lesser Spirit (190), Spirit (275)
- Chest: Minor Stats (150), Lesser Stats (200), Stats (245), Greater Stats (300)
- Weapon: 2H Lesser Spirit (110), 2H Major Spirit (300), Mighty Spirit (300)

Blacksmithing
Only one notable Spirit craft, a thrown weapon that pairs well with Troll throwing skill:
- Arcanite Blacksmith Hammer - Blacksmithing 270 / Thrown, +6 Strength & +4 Spirit - Link

Random Enchantment Gear

Random Enchantment Gear (Boar & Whale)

A lot of the green gear you find while leveling is random enchantment gear. These are random drops (you will also see them on the auction house) that show <Random enchantment> on Wowhead. When one drops it rolls a random suffix, and two of those suffixes are perfect for this build:
- Of The Whale - Stamina and Spirit
- Of The Boar - Strength and Spirit

Both stats always roll the same number, for example 5 Spirit and 5 Stamina. How big the roll is depends on the item level and the slot. Chest, legs, head and two-handers roll the biggest numbers, while bracers, cloaks, rings and necks roll the smallest. Not every item can roll Boar, so Whale is much easier to find, especially after level 35. Use the chart below to check if a Boar or Whale item is a good roll for your level.

Big = Chest, Legs, Head, 2H / Medium = Shoulders, Hands, Waist, Feet / Small = Bracers, Cloak, Ring, Neck
- Level 5-7: Big 1 / Medium 1
- Level 8-10: Big 1-2 / Medium 1-2 / Small 1
- Level 11-13: Big 2-3 / Medium 2-3 / Small 1-2
- Level 14-16: Big 3-4 / Medium 2-3 / Small 2
- Level 17-19: Big 4-5 / Medium 3-4 / Small 2-3
- Level 20-22: Big 5-6 / Medium 4-5 / Small 3-4
- Level 23-25: Big 6-7 / Medium 5-6 / Small 3-4
- Level 26-28: Big 7-8 / Medium 5-6 / Small 4-5
- Level 29-31: Big 8-9 / Medium 6-7 / Small 4-5
- Level 32-34: Big 9-10 / Medium 7-8 / Small 5-6
- Level 35-37: Big 10-11 / Medium 8-9 / Small 6
- Level 38-40: Big 11-12 / Medium 8-9 / Small 6-7
- Level 41-43: Big 12-13 / Medium 9-10 / Small 7-8
- Level 44-46: Big 13-14 / Medium 10-11 / Small 7-8
- Level 47-52: Big 14-16 / Medium 11-12 / Small 8-9
- Level 53-55: Big 16-17 / Medium 12-13 / Small 9-10
- Level 56-58: Big 17-18 / Medium 13-14 / Small 9-10
- Level 59-60: Big 18-19 / Medium 13-14 / Small 10-11

Chest, legs and head are the best slots to chase Whale and Boar on, since they get the biggest Spirit rolls. Shields roll a little lower than the medium slots at higher levels. Wowhead Forever does not list suffix rolls yet, so these numbers are taken from the same items on Wowhead Classic.
