WoW Forever Professions Overview – Everything You Need to Know

The second big change to all professions is the new profession centered reputations, the Azeroth Commerce Authority for Alliance, and the Durotar Supply & Logistics for Horde. Both of these factions have huge amounts of profession recipes for sale exclusive to these vendors.

To gain reputation with these factions and the currency you need, you will need to turn in waylaid crates to each faction's respective npc. If you are working on any profession while leveling, these factions are extremely important, as some of the strongest new profession recipes are locked behind their reputation vendors. Make sure you aren't neglecting these turn-ins as you level.

The Horde NPC is located in the Barrens at Coordinates: 50.1, 29.3

The Alliance NPC is located in Redridge Mountains at Coordinates: 9.7, 70.9

The last general change to professions in wow forever is the new Legacy Talents. These points are account wide and unlocked through various challenges you do throughout the game whilst leveling. These points can be spent on upgrades for your character, some of which are focused on professions

Alchemy

Alchemy has historically been decent while leveling, but was much more important at endgame because of its powerful PvE and PvP consumables. In WoW Forever, it keeps that endgame strength while getting significantly more tools to use throughout the leveling journey.

Alchemy is still retaining that end game strength, but now they have a much larger set of potions to choose from while leveling, with many more than before that are able to give unique and powerful effects. Some range from simple buff potions giving alchemy more use for some classes all the way to powerful potions that give a special effect.

Herbalism

As far as herbalism goes, it is generally the same. You still go out into the world and pick flowers and plants to use for alchemy. All gathering professions can now find items labeled as “scarce materials” which are used for certain specific crafting recipes.

Leatherworking

Similar to alchemy, leatherworking previously was much stronger near endgame, as it was used to craft several items that were extremely strong and used for high end pve content. While leveling most leatherworking gear was underwhelming or not worth the effort, but now wow forever is making sure gear from crafting professions is very strong and worth working towards.

Leatherworking is getting several new recipes, many of which are either obtained as random drops from dungeon bosses or from the new reputation vendors, and they are extremely strong. Many of them have stat budgets much higher than even some dungeon loot at similar levels, and are definitely going to be worth going out of your way for.

Skinning

For skinning, it is pretty much the same as is with herbalism. With the increase of leatherworkers now though and the requirement to fill so many crates for the reputation, skinning will be even better for making money than it was in the past, so it could be a great option for extra money while leveling.

Blacksmithing

Looking at blacksmithing, they got a very similar treatment as leatherworking, with lots of new recipes to make blacksmithing more valuable while leveling, and not solely used for crafting endgame pre best in slot gear.

There is lots of gear for both paladins and warriors, and now they are getting even more end game gear to craft to make them even more valuable. Now leveling blacksmithing whilst leveling won’t feel quite so bad anymore, and it is definitely worth picking up early now rather than waiting till you are near max level.

Mining

Mining is pretty much the same as original vanilla, same as skinning and herbalism, with no major changes from classic.

Tailoring was improved in the same way leatherworking and blacksmithing were with more additions to make a better time investment whilst leveling to 60. Generally tailoring was always a bit better to level with than the other two since you could make bags, and pair it with enchanting for free materials since you don’t need a gathering profession, but now it is even better in wow forever.

They are getting a lot of new recipes for all different types of spell damage in all level ranges, as well as more strong endgame crafting recipes, and more recipes for bags with the addition of the reagent bag in wow forever.

Enchants

Enchanting received several different changes with a lot of new items to craft compared to the previous iteration in classic. Enchanting was always strong near later levels, but now they are getting new unique enchants to utilize along the leveling journey.

Weapons

Enchanting now offers more weapon options for casters in the forms of staves and wands, many of which are quite powerful for the level you can obtain them.

Librams, Relics, & Totems

Enchanters are also now able to craft more paladin librams, druid relics, and shaman totems, which makes it a much better profession option for those classes since those pieces of gear can be quite hard to come by before end game.

Engineering was always quite a strong profession for vanilla, and will remain to be the best choice for pvp players, and hardcore players. Engineers were given a lot more unique and quirky utility items on top of what they already had, so their is a lot of fun to be had with this profession.

First Aid in wow forever, got some pretty handy buffs making it even better than it already was for leveling, with more to craft than just bandages. The biggest change is now health potions are made with first aid, which is a great since every class wants these while leveling but it can be a pain to get them normally if you aren’t an alchemist.

They also have access to new anti poison, disease and bleed items which are pretty convenient if you have the materials. First-aid was already used by most players while leveling, but now it is even better so there is no reason not to level it on your way to max in wow forever.

Cooking is very similar to it's old form with it being a source of good buffs both at end game and while leveling, with many of the old buffs being improved from their original counterparts. Usually cooking is kind of a pain to level and most players often don’t deem it worth the time, but in wow forever there is one big change to make it much more worth the time, and that is that the well fed buff now gives an extra 5% experience from killing enemies. This 5% experience buff can definitely add up overtime, and is well worth the early time investment to stock up on food from cooking.

Here is an example item that gives the experience buff. These are available in all level ranges, and the experience bonus is the same regardless of food level.

Fishing overall didn’t change all that much. The main change is the stranglethorn fishing extravaganza was updated to have anew currency and give new rewards purchasable with said currency, otherwise fishing is the same. It can be a good money making method, selling the various materials and recipes you fish up, and goes great alongside cooking.
