Overview

In this guide, we’re going to show you how to play our Solar Inferno Reroll comp in TFT Set 18.

Solar Inferno is a 1-cost reroll comp built around 3-starring Akali, Ornn, Camille, Leona and Varus. Akali is your primary carry, Ornn is your main tank, while Camille and Varus provide additional damage.

The goal is to find all five core champions at 3-star to activate Solar’s powerful five upgrade bonus. Once active, part of Solar’s bonus magic damage is converted into true damage for your entire team.

You can find this comp alongside all the strongest comps for the current patch on our TFT team comps page.

When to Play

Solar Inferno is best played when you naturally find several copies of its core 1-cost champions during Stage 2.

An early Ornn is especially important because itemizing him immediately allows him to start building Forge Power toward his Artifact Anvil. Akali 2 or Camille 2 can also give you enough early strength to protect your health while building economy.

The best conditions for playing the comp are:

  • Several early copies of Akali, Ornn, Camille, Leona or Varus
  • Strong slammable items
  • Augments such as Early Learnings, No Scout No Pivot, Worth the Wait
  • Little competition for your core 1-cost champions

Avoid forcing the comp when multiple players are holding the same units. You need five unique 3-star champions to reach the most important Solar breakpoint, so being heavily contested can prevent the comp from reaching its full potential.

Best Items

This comp can use a wide range of components because Akali, Camille and Varus all use different items. Your first priority should be completing items for Akali and Ornn before spreading leftover components across Camille and Varus.

Akali

Akali is your main carry and a 1-cost champion with the Inferno, Adaptor and Ravager traits. As an Adaptor, her ability changes depending on whether her Attack Damage or Ability Power is higher. She can use either AD or AP items, but AP is preferred in this version of the comp because Camille and Varus already provide physical damage.

Prioritise AP, critical strike and survivability items such as:

  • Jeweled Gauntlet
  • Edge of Night
  • Hand of Justice
  • Rabadon’s Deathcap
  • Quicksilver

Akali is the priority when choosing an Artifact. Lich Bane is the strongest option, with Seeker’s Armguard also being extremely powerful.

If your Artifact choices or components favor AD, you can switch to an AD Akali build rather than forcing AP items. Edge of Night, Infinity Edge, Hand of Justice, Quicksilver and Sterak’s Gage are all great alternatives.

Check out our TFT Set 18 Artifact Guide if you need help choosing between the Artifacts offered by Ornn’s Anvil.

Ornn

Ornn is a 1-cost Elderwood Defender and your main tank. He pairs with Leona to activate Defender, giving your team extra Armor and Magic Resist. Itemize him as early as possible: during each player combat, he stores damage blocked as Forge Power, with double progress at 3-star. Completing his quest rewards you with an Artifact Anvil.

His best regular tank items include:

  • Gargoyle Stoneplate
  • Steadfast Heart
  • Warmog’s Armor
  • Crownguard
  • Spirit Visage

Place Ornn where he will take consistent damage without dying immediately. The longer he survives, the more Forge Power he can generate.

Camille

Camille is a 1-cost Coven Ravager and your secondary melee carry. She pairs with Akali to activate Ravager, giving both champions Omnivamp and bonus damage to help them fight on the frontline. Give her leftover AD bruiser items once Akali and Ornn are covered.

Strong Camille items include:

  • Sterak’s Gage
  • Infinity Edge
  • Quicksilver
  • Hand of Justice
  • Edge of Night

Camille needs a mixture of damage and survivability because she fights from the frontline. Avoid giving her three purely offensive items unless you already have enough protection from combat augments.

Varus

Varus is a 1-cost Inferno Rapidfire who provides your ranged physical damage. He activates Inferno alongside Akali, allowing their damage to Burn enemies and reduce their healing. Give him any remaining AD or mana items once Akali and Ornn are covered.

Strong options include:

  • Spear of Shojin
  • Last Whisper
  • Infinity Edge
  • Giant Slayer
  • Deathblade

Last Whisper is particularly useful because it provides Sunder for Camille, Varus and an AD Akali build.

Leona

Leona is a 1-cost Solar Defender and one of your core 3-star targets. She pairs with Ornn to activate Defender and contributes towards your Solar synergy. Upgrading her to 3-star also strengthens Solar’s bonuses once the trait is active. Give her any remaining defensive items, but prioritise Ornn’s items so he can survive longer and complete his Artifact Anvil quest.

Best Augments

Augments can make this comp extremely strong, either by helping you complete your five 3-star champions or by giving your finished board more combat power.

Economy and Reroll Augments

These augments help you find your core 1-costs and reach five 3-star champions without falling behind on economy.

  • Team Building
  • Missed Connections
  • Patience is a Virtue
  • Worth the Wait
  • Heroic Grab Bag

Combat and Item Augments

These augments give your upgraded carries more damage and survivability, helping your completed board remain strong during the late game.

  • No Scout No Pivot
  • Early Learnings
  • Baron's Lair
  • Solo Plate
  • Living Forge

Choose augments based on what your board needs. Economy and reroll options help you complete your upgrades, but a strong combat augment can be just as valuable early by strengthening your carries and protecting your health.

Best Wisps

Wisps are especially important for this comp because they can provide additional gold, rerolls and champion copies.

During Stage 2, prioritise Wisps that improve your economy. The extra resources make it much easier to collect all five core champions without destroying your gold.

At Level 5, field Akali, Ornn, Camille, Leona and Varus together whenever possible. Playing five unique 1-cost champions can unlock Field of Mice as a Wisp option on the following round.

Field of Mice costs gold but grants five Tiny Champion Duplicators, making it one of the strongest possible Wisps for this comp. From Stage 3-3 onward, you can reroll your Wisp in search of Field of Mice, Starfall, Starting Town or another strong economy option.

Game Plan

Early Game

Do not level during Stage 2. Play around Akali, Ornn, Leona and Varus while collecting every Camille you find. Itemize Ornn as early as possible so he can begin building Forge Power toward his Artifact Anvil. You can play for a win streak with upgraded units, but otherwise focus on reaching your economy breakpoints.

If you have Stoneplate or a complete tank Item, look to frontline Ornn.

Mid Game

On Stage 3-1, you can roll aggressively at Level 4, as this is your final round with improved odds of finding 1-cost champions. This is best when you already have several copies or pairs of your core units so you can spike and be stronger for stage 3.

Otherwise, preserve your economy and begin slow rolling your gold above 50 once you reach Level 5. Collect Akali, Ornn, Camille, Leona and Varus, with the goal of 3-starring all five champions to activate Solar’s powerful five upgrade bonus.

Late Game

Once your five core 1-cost champions are 3-star, push levels to finish the board. Add Kayle at Level 6 for Rapidfire alongside Varus, then Sejuani at Level 7 to activate 3 Solar and its five upgrade bonus. Complete the board with Amumu at Level 8 for 3 Inferno and Juggernaut.

By this stage Ornn would have printed you an Artifact Anvil by now, Look for Lich Bane, Seeker's Armguard or Rapid Firecannon. If you low roll dont worry! just get a Tank Artifact for Ornn or an AD one for Camille.

Most games should end at Level 8. If you do end up making it to level 9, Ivern, Lux or even Alune will all be great additions to the squad.

Positioning

Place Ornn toward the center of the frontline so he can block enough damage to generate Forge Power. Leona and Sejuani can be placed just below him.

Akali and Camille should be positioned toward the same side as the enemy carry, while Varus and Kayle remain protected in the back row. You do want Kayle and Varus attacking the same targets as Camille and Akali as they will apply Shred/Sunder. They will also make it so you can get through the frontline faster which will allow Camille and Akali to get onto the squishier units in the back. Scout regularly and move your carries to prevent them from getting trapped on the enemy’s main tank.

Tips and Tricks

Here are some of the most important tips to remember when playing this comp:

  • Itemize Ornn early so he can begin building Forge Power toward his Artifact Anvil.
  • Field all five core 1-cost champions to unlock the chance of finding the Field of Mice Wisp, which provides Tiny Champion Duplicators.
  • Lich Bane and Seeker’s Armguard are Akali’s strongest Artifact options.
  • AP is Akali’s preferred build, but her Adaptor trait allows you to play AD when your items are better suited to it.
  • Inferno provides built in anti-heal, so you do not need another source.
  • Kayle provides Magic Resist Shred once she reaches 2-star.
  • Place any leftover defensive items on Leona after fully itemizing Ornn.

Hopefully, this guide has helped you understand how to play Solar Inferno Reroll. If you follow the reroll timings, itemize your core champions correctly and complete the five 3-stars needed for Solar, you should be in a strong position to succeed. Good luck and have fun!
