Overview

How to Play Primordian — TFT Set 17: Space Gods

Primordians make Swarmlings based on damage and Primordian star level. This makes this a reroll trait as the units are low cost at Briar 1 gold, Rek’Sai 1 gold, and Bel’Veth 2 gold. This makes these all very rerollable as they benefit from star level!

Let’s go over the trait bonus and how to play the trait below.

How TFT Primordian Works

Primordian Trait Bonus

primordian trait

Champions: Briar 1g / Rek'Sai 1g / Bel'Veth 2g

  • (2) Dealing damage spawns Swarmlings based on Primordian star level.
  • (3) Spawn even more Swarmlings! Each round, gain a random 1 or 2-cost champion.

8% of damage taken contributes to damage dealt.

Primordian Champions and Synergy

Primordian only have 3 units, so there are not many choices for trait webs within the Primoradian trait itself

  • Briar (1G) - Anima + Rogue
  • Rek’Sai (1G) - Brawler
  • Bel’Veth (2G) - Challenger + Marauder

TFT Primordian Champions

Briar (1G) - Anima + Rogue

Briar’s ability Fish Frenzy has a passive and active trait. Her passive is for every percent of missing health, she gains attack speed based on her AP. For her active, she deals (AD) physical damage to the target and does additional (AD) damage if they are a tank.

This makes her great for tank shred. The Rogue trait also gives her additional AD and AP. On top of this, she gets an Edge of Night effect whenever she falls below 50% health which makes enemies targeting her redirect their damage to somewhere else which has historically been a strong ability.

Rek’Sai (1G) - Brawler

tft set 17 rek'sai

Rek’Sai comes from the void with the Brawler tag. The ability, Upheaval, heals for a percent of maximum health (Health & AP), then briefly knocks up adjacent enemies and deals (AP) magic damage.

Rek’sai has a knock up which gives her strong utility throughout the game so that Swarmlings can have more time to deal more damage.

Bel’Veth (2G) - Challenger + Marauder

tft set 17 bel'veth

[Link to Champion Page]

Bel’Veth has the ability TIdal Slashes where she unleashes a flurry of slashes based on her attack speed to the current target over a duration of seconds. It deals (AD & AP) physical damage for each.

Bel’Veth is a damage dealer that benefits from attack speed and the Challenger trait as a whole. If you are playing around Bel’Veth, then the best case is to start playing around Challengers after finishing rerolling the Primordians.

How to Play Primordian

For this composition you want to 3-star all your Primordian units. This means that you will not want to press the xp button until you have all your 3-stars. In the early stages of the game - stage 1 and 2 - you will want to hold as many Primordian units as possible. On top of this, if you are lucky you will also want to look at potentially playing the Anima trait to farm free rerolls.

Generally, you will want to play a weak board where you are able to loss streak to obtain a lot of gold to be able to roll for 3 stars. At stage 3-1 at level 4, you will want to roll until you have 35 gold while picking up Primordian units. At 3-2, you will level naturally to level 5 and will want to econ back up to 50 gold. Then, slow roll above 50 gold to 3-star all of your Primordian units.

To cap out, you will want to look at playing Rogue, Brawler, Challenger, and Marauder units to synergize with your Primordian units. Whichever unit has your carry items are the traits you want to stack the most! This will most likely be Bel’Veth as she is a damage dealer that benefits off the Challenger trait. She is also the highest cost of the Primordians, so playing around the highest cost rerolled unit will often make the most sense.

You will want to play all 3 Primordians as you get more Swarmlings on top of gaining a 1 or 2 cost champion to help you econ up and get to higher levels in order to cap out your board. In the late game, it is possible you will drop either Briar or Rek’Sai to get more Challengers on the board to activate Bel’Veth further.
