Guide

TL;DR:
Pre-level on the final opening PvE round whenever you can!
Your chance to WIN starts BEFORE 2-1!

This is because of two unique champions of this set:
Rengar and Kha'Zix

Both are 3-cost champions that are extremely strong at snowballing—and 3-costs only start appearing in your shop at Level 4!

What is pre-leveling:
Buying enough XP to leave yourself 2 XP away from the next level.
When the next round starts, the free XP automatically levels you up before your shop refreshes, giving you a shop with higher-level odds.

In this case: Buy XP (just once) during the last opening PvE round, so you automatically reach Level 4 at the start of 2-1.

If you wait until 2-1 to buy XP, your shop has already refreshed with Level 3 odds. You’ve missed an entire shop that could have offered you Rengar or Kha'Zix!

It won’t guarantee you hit them. But you need to give yourself the chance! Make pre-leveling a habit—don’t miss an early advantage because you clicked the XP button one round late!

When NOT to Pre-Level (VERY SIMPLE):

1. When you have A LOT of PAIRS. (means two of the same champions)

2. When you have already hit your upgrades and you don't want to play Rengar/Kha'Zix!

It's literally as simple as that!

Very IMPORTANT:

Prioritize Rengar if you have to choose from one of them!

Simply because Kha'Zix needs time to evolve and isn't as strong as Rengar early.

But if you are lucky......you get to play this S+ tier comp where you can play both Rengar and Kha'Zix!

Unrivaled!

We have a detailed guide for Unrivaled, click here to see!

Guinsoo's Rageblade is the core and best item early on in TFT Set 18.
It's good on both Rengar and Kha'Zix, and many other champions. Make this item often leads to no regret.
Use it on Rengar and Kha'Zix to get early win-streak!

To make it even better, pair it with Edge of Night so that Rengar and Kha'Zix won't die all of a sudden, which gives Guinsoo's Rageblade more time to stack up!
Later on, transfer those items to your 4 and 5-cost carries!

Best Guinsoo's Rageblade user late game:
Aphelios Nidalee Draven

Best Edge of Night user late game:
Brambleback Kennen Gnar

↑ How to actually Level Up in TFT Set 18

What to do if I don't get Rengar/Kha'Zix?

Don't worry!

There are many other openings which are just as good as Rengar/Kha'Zix opening.

Such as the 3 Blossom opening.

3 Blossom is very weak early.

3 Blossom + another unit is a completely different story.

When you are winning early game, it's best to just win by a little.

Because you are not going to do a lot of player damage in the early game anyway even if you win.

3 Blossom + another unit is strong enough for you to win, but just by a little, which is perfect.

Remember to position on the Right side
