This is the leveling setup I used to level my ranger on leaguestart with grenades. After leveling I am pivoting to a grenade/ 
Explosive Shot similar to Rue's build from last league for mapping. I was able to get to maps in 4 hours 30minutes in SC.

YOU NEED ONE POINT IN INT AND ONE IN STR TO EQUIP 
Tense Crossbow AND 
Frost Bomb EARLY at lvl 6 ish. Keep this in mind, respec it later.
In order to get a crossbow, if you do not get enough gold from Miller to buy one, you need to mule on a merc or basic attack/LA until you get one.
Use early Transmutes and Augments on rings/crossbows to try and get flat damage.
Movement speed on boots is a MUST.
For crossbow stats during the duration of the campaign, you ideally want some combination of:
Support Gem Requirements:
Str 10
Dex 10
Int 0
Crossbow Shot
Explosive Grenade
Flash Grenade
Frost Bomb
Contagion
Wind Dancer
Pounce
Contagion is used to assist with clear in early act 1.
For advanced players you can always run 
Pounce with a talisman offhand for the mobility.
Multishot I > Elemental Armament I on explosive grenade is highest prio, then focus on other gems.
Take 2 proj nodes, then one str and one int attribute for frost bomb/Tense crossbow. You will respec this later.
1) Charm charges gained

3)Depends on endgame build, but I'd suggest int/res/res or if pathfinder, int/str/dex
4)Boon - MS/res
