Build Overview

This planner will teach you how to run your Martial Artist Monk through Maps. There will be two set ups for you, depending on how you want to play. You can either run with or without a Weapon!

How it Plays

Whirlwind Assault Rotation

  • Cast Whirling Assault

Mid-game Single Target Rotation

  • Use Killing Palm on Hollow Focus to gain Power Charges
  • Use Pounce on the Boss to mark.

How it Works

Build Overview

This build will have two variants depending on your play style. The first will be using Quarter Staves and the second will rely on Hollow Palm Technique. Depending on your gear, if you do not have a strong Quarter Staff, using Hollow Palm Technique will be more than strong enough to carry you through Map 15+. The damage is based off your Skill Gem, so the more you level and the high level Skill Gem you equip, the more damage you do.

To make the build run you will need to get Lochtonial Caress. This combined with Way of the Stonefist changes the stats on Lochtonial Caress to give you a chance to gain Power Charges on hit. When you have a Power Charge and you cast Hollow Form it gains 2 addition Fleeting Images of yourself.

Lochtonial Caress will also be granting you Endurance Charges and Frenzy Charges. Because we'll have all of these we can gain extra buffs from Charge Regulation. You will need extra Spirit to run extra Support Gems. Each Support Gem used costs additional Spirit. You will add in buffs to your Mana Generations with Clarity I and Clarity II. You can run both at the same time, as long as you take 1 and 2.

Hollow Form will level up and gain more slots as your character levels. The first increase is level 65 and the second one is at level 90.

Midgame Set-up

Skill set-up

  • You'll need a Talisman in order for this to work. Above your weapons you'll select the icon that looks like "II". This is your second weapon selection and this will need to be set up in order to use your mid-game variant.
  • Once you have the Talisman equipped select the icon that will turn you into a Wyvern. This will automatically add Rend to your skill gem selection. Once you've done this you can add it to your skill bar and every time you use Rend it will automatically swap weapon selections for you and turn you into a Wyvern.
  • Very Important you need to open up Hollow Form and at the bottom of the skill you'll need to select "Used with weapon selection I". This will allow you to use Hollow Form no matter what weapon selection you have.

Passive Tree set-up

  • Start off by refunding 20 passive points.
  • At the top right corner select "Weapon Set I". Then put in all the points that are Pink
  • Then select "Weapon Set II" and put in all the points that are Green

Endgame Set-up

A lot has changed here as I've gotten here. This version will continue to update as more gear comes in.

  • Jewels have been updated
    • Heart of the Well was added for extra damage. You'll want to look for at least 2 "Gain % of extra damage" as Lightning / Cold / Fire. If you can afford all 3 at once that's optimal.
    • Megalomaniac gem with Exposed to the Inferno and Exposed to the Storm
    • From Nothing with Ancestral Bond as the modifier. This will allow you to choose nodes around Ancestral Bond without having to path there. You'll take Well of Power, Dangerous Blossom and Dimensional Weakspot.
  • For your Amulet, look for something with Spirit still. With the current gear shown I am 10 Spirit short and will be looking to replace the Amulet with something similar with Spirit. I dropped Ghost Dance but you can also drop Wind Dancer and keep Ghost Dance.
  • I dropped Killing Palm and replaced it with Devour then set it to my "Weapon II" so that the buffs we gain all gain the extended duration.
  • Anointment changed on the Amulet to Crushing Verdict
  • Shavronne's Satchel changed to add an extra slot so that I could gain immunity to freeze through Nascent Hope

Ascendancy

Your first two Ascendancy points will be Hollow Form and Way of the Stonefist. You will need to complete both in order for this to work properly.

Until you complete your 4th Ascendancy take Hollow Focus.

After you have completed your 4th Ascendancy you will add in Runic Meridians. Use this to cap out any resistances you need, then the body armor spot should be Craiceann's Rune of Recovery, gloves The Greatwolf's Rune of Claws and boots are Farrul's Rune of the Chase.

Mana Management

If you're running into Mana Issues and constantly running out, there are a couple solutions:

  • Downgrade your Skill Gem. The higher the Skill Gem Rank the more mana is costs.
  • Efficient Casting and Conservative Casting help by reducing the mana cost of your skills.
  • Make sure you have a Transcendent Mana Flask that restores Charges per second.
