Build Overview

Hey guys, KallTorak here! I'm an Off-Meta creator with an affinity for silly goose time builds! This is my Reflect Sunder Smith build for Leveling & End Game.

Reflect Sunder Smith - Video Guide

For years now monsters in ARPGs have gotten too used to the idea of hitting us with no repercussion. Reflect builds are a really fun playstyle where you take damage to deal damage! Wind Dancer is the core of this build. It is normally a defensive tool used to knock back enemies but we have turned it into our ultimate weapon! Wind Dancer is able to handle all of our mapping. What wind dancer can't handle is taken care of with Sunder. Sunder is a fun wind up ability with the potential to one shot the hardest bosses in the game! It's a really fun style where you run through the map like a bulldozer!

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Fun reflect build that doesn't have the downsides of thorns.
  • Budget friendly! Smith of Kitava allows us to invest easily into stat stack by using Coal Stoker and Smith's Masterwork.
  • Good for waystone level 16s and pinnacle content - +2 Arbiter confirmed. Xecht and Sim +3 done as well.
  • Reflect builds take damage to deal damage. There are some attacks that will one shot you even on the tankiest of characters. There is a learning curve to reflect builds! Expect to die some as you figure this style out.
  • Wind Dancers stages make taking multiple, fast hits difficult. This is the one aspect of the build that thorns out performs.
  • While better on a budget Titan will ultimately outperform Smith with a lot of currency investment.

Build Variants

While leveling keep your eyes out for any base chest piece. Something like Fur Plate. It needs to be the common white type, it can't be magic or rare or unique. We will start using this in the mid 30s for Smith's Masterwork.

Required Leveling Gear

  • The most important thing while leveling is a strong two handed weapon with melee skills. Don't just prio the highest bonus to melee skills. Make sure it is a good damage two hander as well. Wind Dancer damage scales heavily off both.

Optional Leveling Gear

  • Crown of the Victor gives you +1 level to all Skills. Only way to get bonus gem level to Wind Dancer on helmet. I used this all the way until End Game.
  • Meginord's Girdle good starter belt. Comes with some cold res which is nice vs Count. The bonus strength will be nice for a while.

Important Stats For Leveling (Listed in order of Priority)

  • 2 Handed Weapon With High Damage(Physical Prio)
  • Strength
  • Dexterity
  • Bonus Melee Skills
  • Maximum Life
  • Fire Resistance - Stack Fire res for Coal Stoker makes itemizing super easy.
  • % Physical Damage Leech - Get this on one or two rings at some point.
  • Added Damage to Attacks
  • Armour, Cold Resistance, Lightning Resistance, Chaos Resistance.

Note that while leveling you will find yourself starved for Dexterity and Strength. If you are struggling with these stats prio them on your rings. You can get very high strength and dexterity rolls on rings, both stats on the same ring. Make sure every other piece of rare gear you have has a high strength roll as well.

Jewels

  • Prism of Belief for Wind Dancer is nice but a luxary. Very expensive but if you have it use it.
  • Ruby Increased Area of Effect > % Attack Damage > Block Chance(We swap to block in end game)
  • Sapphire Recover % Max Life On Kill > Area of Effect > Chance to Inflict Ailments - Only need one of this but not this is more for end game.

Anoint

  • Proficiency - Really nice for keeping up with the dex requirements on Wind Dancer.
  • Acceleration - Nice for sunder and the bonus movement speed is great
  • Colossal Weapon - Bonus Strength and increased area of effect is nice.

Sockets

  • Robust Rune for Strength. Use Greater Robust Rune later in the campaign.
  • Adept Rune for Dex. Only use this if you are really struggling with Dex. Greater Adept Rune later in the campaign.
  • Bear Talisman in your helmet for increased area of effect. Not needed but fun. Use Strength Runes if you are happy with your AoE size.
  • If you are lacking elemental res cap that with Greater Glacial Rune Greater Storm Rune Greater Desert Rune. You should be able to hit elemental res cap from Fire Res on gear via Coal Stoker though.

Skills

Wind Dancer is our main damage for AoE! The way it works is it builds up stages over time. If at any point you get hit with a stack of Wind Dancer it will explode causing Gale Force to deal damage. The more stacks of Wind Dancer you have the more it does. As you are running through the map you will naturally be hit. Do not think of this as stand still, get hit, kill things. It will just happen on its own!

Wind dancer scales off both gem skill level and WEAPON DAMAGE! Make sure you are investing into good 2 handed weapons with melee skills and high dps as you are leveling through the campaign. Make sure you are looking at its damage not its physical dps. Modifiers like attack speed will increase the weapons dps but do not impact wind dancer. If possible get a Greater Jewelers Orb for wind dancer. Magnified Effect, Envenom, Armour Explosion, and Corrosion make clearing enemies on screen very very easy. Wind Dancer hits hard, it poisons, that poison breaks armour, armour explodes, enemies die! Once you add on Herald of Plague you are walking through the game with everything exploding.

Wind Dancer is an attack skill! So it gets enhanced by skills like Infernal Cry. You will be running through the map Infernal Cry so your Wind Dancer is hitting extra hard. This skill also applies to Mace Strike which will be our go to attack skill for bossing. You can replace this with Perfect Strike if you want but I don't enjoy this skill.

The reason we don't path through all the melee damage nodes at the start is because you will be attribute starved very quickly. The route we take is maximizing attributes to be able to use our big two handers while also meeting the dex requirement for Wind Dancer.
