Build Overview

SKILL ROTATION

CLEARING

  1. Forge Hammer + Infernal Cry (to shatter it)
    > do this step whenever the hammer is off cooldown
  2. Stampede all over the place
  3. *OPTIONAL* Shockwave Totem x4 (tanky rares or big mechanics like Abyss or Ritual)

remember to DODGE ROLL AT THE END OF Stampede (as soon as you land from the jump) - it's slightly faster than waiting for the normal recovery animation

SINGLE TARGET

1) Shockwave Totem x4
*2) Infernal Cry (only if you have Ancestral Cry, otherwise, SKIP THIS STEP)
3) Forge Hammer
4) Ancestral Cry (Infernal Cry instead, if you do not have Ancestral)
5) walk around lol (each step is a slam via Ancestral Cry)

you can also use Stampede during Step 5 but I've found that just walking while Ancestral Cry is active yields more dps

toss in War Banner whenever it's available and use Sunder once the enemy's armor is fully broken for even more dmg!

LEVELING

I have an entirely separate leveling guide (for ANY Warrior build), here:

if you are leveling with Forge Hammer (t9 gem, early Act 3) - links are: Rapid Attacks I (replace w II once you get) > Fire Attunement > Fist of War II / Efficiency II (cost issues)

you can use Forge Hammer the entire time to level (just throw > recall over & over) but you have the option for Stampede when you drop a t11 and link it with Crater and Branching Fissures I - it's up to you if you want to use Stampede for leveling, though.

I also recommend to level using a 2H mace or 2x 1H maces (NO SHIELD - you want dmg)

for Act 3's Venom Draught - take ele ailment threshold
for Act 4's Trial choices (monkey boss area) - take the %res for each
for Interlude Act's pillar choice - take 5% all ele res (or 3% movespeed, if u have good res)

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • smooth clear (for melee lol)
  • comfy single target to do all Pinnacle content (~1m dps)
  • tanky to run all map mods without looking (t15/16, corrupted, 36% deli, desecrated)
  • Stampede doesn't feel great in tight-spaces (get trapped frequently)
  • single target setup can be rendered useless for ~5s if boss moves 10ft lmao
  • true melee build

Build Variants

ONLY USE THIS SETUP IF YOUR WEAPON CRAFT IS DONE! (you NEED the "gain dmg as extra %fire" mod to drop Avatar of Fire!)

the big $$ things are using Rakiata's Flow on Forge Hammer, adding in jewels like From Nothing and a rare Time-Lost and running a Rite of Passage

note the skill tree changes and different Stampede links!

this is my exact gear as of 9/10

get at least +45 Spirit (body or amulet)

for the Rite of Passage, you're looking for "Ox" (tanky) or "Wolf" (speed) spirit

for a rare shield, you mainly want:
- %additional phys dmg reduction
- %armor applies to ele dmg
- +str (for Giant's Blood)
> remember that block chance is IRRELEVANT (Renly's Training)

CRAFTING YOUR WEAPON

there is a new Desecrated (Abyss) mod to look for on weapons in 0.3:
> chance for mace slam Aftershocks

I will outline below how to GUARANTEED craft a 600+ pDPS, +6 attack skills, %dmg as extra fire, aftershock 2H mace but here is a video detailing the entire crafting process:

CRAFTING STEPS

  1. buy / gamble for a "top end" (lv req: 70+) 2H mace of MAGIC RARITY with an OPEN PREFIX
    > do NOT use a "Fanatic Greathammer" (low dmg & low speed)
  2. use a Perfect Orb of Augmentation, looking for "%increased physical damage"
    > "hybrid" phys (%phys/+acc) is okay but not ideal
    > if you hit +phys instead of %phys, you can use an Omen of Homogenizing Coronation + Perfect Regal Orb (and pray lol)

    ---------------REPEAT STEPS 1 & 2 UNTIL YOU HAVE "%phys" ON A MAGIC 2H MACE--------------------------------
  3. Greater Essence of Abrasion
    > upgrades item to rare & guarantees +phys
  4. fill the suffixes completely
    > 1x Greater Exalted Orb + 1x Omen of Dextral Exaltation + 1x Omen of Greater Exaltation*
    *only if price is lower than a Greater Exalt
  5. Omen of Dextral Crystallization + Perfect Essence of Flames
    > guarantees "%dmg as extra fire" while keeping your phys prefixes in-tact
  6. Omen of the Liege + Preserved Jawbone + Omen of Dextral Necromancy*
    *if suffixes are FULL

    -------------------skip to Step 8 if you don't care about Onslaught and/or want to save $$-----------
  7. Perfect Essence of Haste
    > if the Desecrated mod still exists, move on to Step 8, otherwise, repeat steps 6 & 7 until you have both the Desecrated AND Essence Suffixes
  8. Perfect Essence of Battle
    > this is a 1/3 chance to hit (keep Onslaught + Desecrated)

    ------REPEAT STEPS 6, 7 & 8 UNTIL YOU HAVE ALL DESIRED MODS (1 or 2x Essence + Desecrated)----
  9. Omen of Abyssal Echoes, take to Well & pray for "%Aftershock"
    > "%Fissures" is okay too but not ideal
  10. you're done!

instill Lay Siege on your amulet (Fear, Envy, Fear)

!!VERY IMPORTANT!!

when doing the weapon set passives, ensure that:
> Shockwave Totem IS THE ONLY SKILL USING WEAPON SET 2!
> for every OTHER skill, ensure that "Weapon Set II" is UNCHECKED

you can accomplish this in the "Skills" menu ("G") and then click the ">" icon next to the DPS of each skill and find the "Used with Weapon Set" options in the bottom right

finally, LOCK YOUR WEAPONS, enabling them to be used with both weapon sets - in your Inventory, simply hover over the "I" icon (above your weapon and shield) until the "lock icon" shows, then right click it

JEWELS

get the new Unique jewel Heart of the Well with "%recover max life on kill" AND "gain %dmg as extra fire" (other mods don't matter as much but "+1% max all ele res" is the best)

From Nothing (Blood Magic) saves a LOT of passive points.

a Rare Time-Lost Ruby in the bottom-right corner is also great (rage on hit, %armor, %stun threshold, etc) - make sure it has a MEDIUM RADIUS

> swapped Aftershock II to Rageforged II on Forge Hammer (proc'ing the fissures is already treated as an Aftershock!)
> removed Leap Slam and added Sunder (only use once, on Fully Broken Armor target)
> added Chernobog's Pillar to "$$$ Endgame"

> replaced Jagged Ground II with Close Combat II on Ancestral Cry (footsteps are triggers and thus can never shockwave to create jagged ground lol)
> replaced Rapid Attacks II with Rapid Attacks III on Shockwave Totem (don't care about dmg now cuz no jagged ground to pop)
