Build Overview

Will take a while until i make it in 0.4 to test it with those changes, since i'm going to update my Chronomancer Build first.

For now this is just idea, Gear, Tree and Gems will change.
DON'T league start or try this build, unless you brave enough!

  • In 0.4 Fire Spell on Hit was buffed a lot, now it get 10% Increased Damage per level up to 200% and Spells socketed into it have 0 Manacost, while it still might be weak.
  • Spell choice sadly is very limited, only Fireball and Firestorm are viable options, Detonate Dead also good but you need to spawn corpses somehow.
  • Fire Spell on Hit doesn't work with channeled spells like Flameblast or Incinerate, and really bad with spells that have cooldown like Snap, or limited like Living Bomb.

It will be really good if this build can handle regular mapping, don't expect more from it considering you have to use Melee Weapon which means you lose a lot of damage from losing wand/focus or staff.

While Collapsing Horizon somewhat decent replacement of caster weapon providing up to +4 Levels, and effectively halving required Energy for triggering Fire Spell on Hit.

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Might be interesting
  • Build likely won't be strong even with high budget

Build Variants

For leveling, you can go pure melee route with Rolling Slam and Boneshatter all the way to end of campaign.

Or take melee stuff up until you get first 2 ascendancy points to allocate Fire Spell on Hit and then respec more into fire/spell damage.

Later i'll add separate leveling tab when i'll level it myself

GEAR (Will change):

  • Collapsing Horizon seems like best option for Fire Spell on Hit
  • Crown of Eyes needed to get more damage for whatever Attack you want to use because of low damage of weapon
  • Body Armor with either ES or Evasion/ES
  • Doedre's Tenure for 100% Increased Spell Damage, flexible slot
  • Boots with ES
  • Fireflower to get +4 Levels for Fireball
  • Rings with Resists, Damage to Attacks (Fire or Phys) and %Fire Damage
  • Belt with Resists, Strength, optionally Life
  • Jewels have bunch of useful mods which you can see on examples above

Issues:

For some reason Overwhelming Presence doesn't affect amount of energy you get for Fire Spell on Hit, while it clearly states that "modified by the percentage of the enemy's Ailment Threshold the Hit will deal" and Overwhelming Presence does lower enemy Ailment Threshold so you should getting more energy.

Some notes (Skills will change):

  • For Fireball, Zenith II is used because build has very low Mana usage so it will mostly be full
  • For Whirling Assault (Or other Attacks), Atalui's Bloodletting used to make it cost Life instead of Mana
  • Siphon Elements to sometimes get Fire Infusion for Fireball
  • Blasphemy with Elemental Weakness to make use of Zone of Control and Hindered Capabilities
  • Soul Offering for more Spell Damage, used on Weapon Set 2 with Skill Duration passives

Tree is just Spell Damage, some Evasion/ES, Triggered Spells, and Skill Duration on Weapon Set 2.

Unsure about last 2 Ascendancy points, Against the Anvil and Living Weapon seems useless for this build.
