You can remove the Essence drain Chain gem to add a higher DPS gem like Derange. This will just require you to aim at the mobs to clear them.

Mana regeneration still works with Souless form! In the attribute nodes, take the Int needed to use the skills and put the rest in STR, STR will give you more life and mana regeneration.
The tree doesn't have much of a secret, because it's all about ES and chaos damage. So if you're dying a lot, focus more on getting ES, otherwise focus on damage.
That said, the path you should normally take is; head north, ignoring the ES points on the right at the start (insightfulness and melding); pick up Roil which helps a lot in distributing the Dots; head north ignoring all the lefts; pick up Whispers of Doom; follow the path to the right, until you've distributed all the extra points for the 2 weapons. From there, take what you think is most necessary.

How it Plays
Remember that whitering presence needs to be close to the mob for it to work.
Use contagion and then hit a target with contagion with Chaos bolt, watch the mob melt.
Rare mob or boss? Use Despair
Mob too tanky? Deploy totem (dark effigy)
Mob toooooo tanky? Keep all debuffs active at all times (essence drain/unleash/despair/dark effigy). They all last a few seconds, you can just dodge in the meantime, or if you prefer to give a bit more DPS spam Essence Drain which has a base damage.
Use Unearth to create mobs only and help you tank creeps
How it Works
Contagion spreads all damage debuffs and amplifies damage. So we fill the mob with debuff and spread the misfortune.
