Hello All Blood Mage Enjoyers!

This Blood Mage Build Guide uses progressing variants during a league to go from Starter to Multiple fun Endgame Builds that utilize the same core build design. This guide was created in 0.1 Early Access and has been REBUILT every league to date. Join us on Twitch to watch build variants showcased throughout a league!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION about playing a High Critical Strike Chance Blood Mage. Each individual player will have different amounts of Crit Chance in relation to their equipment. Weapon, Amulet, Helmet, Rings, Gloves, Sapphires, etc. This means that EACH INDIVIDUAL PLAYER must adjust their Passive Skill Trees to meet the requirements needed for each variant. The Passive Skill Trees on all variants below show the path I used with the equipment I was wearing at that time. You may need to add or remove Crit Chance to manage your build properly.

Your goal will be to maintain at or near 100% Critical Strike Chance for your spells to achieve the desired results. 100% crit chance DOES NOT EQUAL lots of damage. It is the starting line to begin building your character.

We need to continue scaling damage by first increasing our (Spell Skill Levels) and then following with (% Increased Damage), (Gain % Lightning/Cold/Fire/Chaos), (Critical Damage Bonus), and (Cast Speed).

Some variants may have additional scaling damage modifiers or uniques that empower the character damage. Explanations should be included in those guides.

SPARK COMET BLOOD MAGE BUILD

YOUTUBE VIDEO - https://youtu.be/mL-WeOcXZjs

This super fun High End Variant takes our much loved Spark to a higher level that can complete ALL content POE2 0.5 has to offer. It is especially good for the current Ritual Farming Meta many are using to secure a Headhunter or Mageblood.

This build also fully uses Cast on Critical to rain down Comet while mapping and especially bossing.

We use Blood Magic on the skill tree to completely remove our mana and cast all spells with Life. We sustain this primarily with Leech, Undying Hate (tecrod), Life Remnants, and Life Flask if needed.

It is very common for your Life to deplete down to 1HP during Comet spam to kill bosses instantly. We are stacking massive Energy Shield as a layer of protection against any damage during this very small window.

WEAPON SET 1 - Spark Orb of Storms Cast on Critical

WEAPON SET 2 - Sigil of Power

You only need enough Spirit for Cast on Critical and Arctic Armour. Siphon Elements is optional if you have enough Spirit and it will be a nice boost for mapping.

Mysticism I or 2 are optional damage supports if you have extra spirit. Herbalism I or 2 are also viable options for extra survivability.

Life Remnants comes from your first ascendency Sanguimancy which is a mandatory point for all Blood Mages.

Sigil of Power comes from Chiming Staff in our second weapon slot. Chiming Staff will be available starting in Act 2.

Spark if your primary map clearing ability which can be enhanced with Orb of Storms to provide aoe damage and also Cold Infusions. The normal Lightning Infusions are changed to Cold when we take Elemental Equilibrium on the Passive Skill Tree.

Sigil of Power is used for a large spell power increase for bosses or tough league mechanics.

THIS IS MY SKILL TREE WITH 100% CRIT CHANCE ON ALL SPELLS. YOU WILL NEED TO ADJUST YOUR TREE ACCORDINGLY FOR YOUR PERSONAL CRIT CHANCE.

Critical Hit Chance for Spells or Critical Hit Chance on your Staff/Helmet/Amulet/Rings will help remove the burden of having so many Critical Hit Chance points on the skill tree so you can focus on more damage, utility or defense.

-Important Jewel Information-

You will want Critical Hit Chance and/or Critical Hit Chance for Spells on jewels.

Additionally you can get Increased Maximum Energy Shield on all jewels to have a very large increase to your overall ES. This will be great for large Energy Shield tanking.

Damage modifier options for jewels include but not limited to:

Critical Damage Bonus , Critical Spell Damage Bonus , Spell Damage

Mix your Crit Hit Chance modifiers with your damage modifiers until you find good deals or the perfect jewels.

Anoint - Zarokh Gift on amulet to get another Jewel Socket on your Passive Skill Tree. https://poe2db.tw/us/Zarokhs_Gift

Please update the build you are currently playing, and if possible, describe any nuances associated with it.

Why are you using elemental weakness instead of despair for doom toads?

0
S
SaltyRusnPotato•3d ago

Two reasons.

1) Impending Doom has exponential growth. Every level of your main skill gem is very important. Elemental Weakness has the tags "Lightning", "Fire", "Cold", and "Curse" which gives you a bunch of options to rank the skill up and save on some currency when buying weapons. With putting it directly on Despair, you only have the options of "+all spell" and "+curse skills" to rank it up.

2) The build utilizes "Gain X damage as extra cold/fire/lightning damage". Assuming you are using a staff you should be hitting +100% or more total extra damage. This extra damage is as the type described in the text. Despair only gives chaos weakness, not elemental weakness. Elemental weakness scales this bonus (and this bonus over half your total damage).

Efficient Inscriptions on Atlas + 20% qual Blasphemy should lower total spirit cost to 106. Don't forget to take Clarity off Life Remnants as well

I have truly enjoyed this league using your guide! Progressing from league start to crit stacking was easy with the detailed steps. Early atlas is when I did have to start using the trader rather than whatever was on the ground for gear. You can EASILY rock low level gear while leveling. (I was at 50, looking at some of my level 19 gear before I thought maybe I should replace it 😅).

I've now moved on to the Ember Comet Storm - MUCH tankier than the league start, slight damage loss at the moment, but I am sure that will remedy itself when I can afford some of the needed support gems.

spark does not crit?

0
S
shrd_sick•18d ago
Ultimate Predator

it does in the later stage of the build. league start you use controlled destruction which makes it not crit, but does more damage. you take that off and use pinpoint crit when you get to the Begin Crit Stacking stage of the build.

Hi, great guide. Been using it past two leagues and thanks for all your work. One question though, why take Commiserate in Orb of Storms?

It's just for expedition, to swap into spark when you get the rune that reflects shock.
