How do you start from that point in the skill tree?? I can get to the spell damage starting node but i cant delete the previous nodes i used to get there?

You need to path from your starting node to the first gem slot, put the ruby in the slot, and then path from that slot, all the way around the tree (go around the left side, clicking the attribute slots) to the first gem slot on the sorceress side, where you are actually going to be pathing from for the build. Once you've reached the slot that the ruby is actually going to stay in moving forward, you lock in your changes. Then you can go back and move the ruby from the old slot to the new slot, and then you can refund all the old nodes that you used to path from the merc start to the first gem slot, and refund all the nodes that you used to path around the tree. Then you're good to go.

Hi, can I play this build on the Witch as well? Or does it only work on the Mercenary?

The build is centered around the Gemling ascendancy, but there are plenty of builds for ED Contagion you can use with Witch. Just search for a different one :)
