SKILL PROGRESSIONS:
There are 5 separate pages that show the skills and supports you should be using, and show which acts you will be able to get them. I have also included a written explanation of *HOW* and *WHY* you should be using these spells and supports.
ACT 1 SKILL USAGE:
Spark is picked up in the first zone, and will be a big part of our damage the entire way through the campaign. It will be used to trigger multiple
Orb of Storms. I bind spark to right click and orb of storms to left click, on the mouse.
Frost Bomb amplifies all of our damage, by inflicting exposure debuff on enemies. I would only use this on bosses, and make sure you keep the gem leveled up, because it will lose the exposure effect if you leave it at a level too low in comparison to the enemy. We start to use the same tech as we do on
Orb of Storms in order to generate triple cold infusions, as these provide a huge damage boost upside.
Orb of Storms is going to become a massive damage disher for us. Every time a spell is cast within range of this skill, the orb will shoot out lightning that chains through all enemies. In act 1 we have a setup that drops double orb of storms every time we press the button thanks to Unleash coupled with Overabundance I. In act 3 we will grab +1 limit on the passive tree so that we get 3 orbs that will ALL do massive chaining damage every time we press
Spark
Flame Wall amplifies the damage done by spark bolts that pass through it. This is the least important button in the build, by far. But it does help with damage and you can pre-load it on bosses if you want to!
Arctic Armour or
Mana Remnants should be your first aura. The first is defensive, the second helps with mana (i do not think this is necessary early, because Unleash saves alot of mana. But it does feel good to have!) You will grab the other one in act 3 regardless.
ACT 2 SKILL USAGE:
The skill gems to not change at all, but we prioritize our first lesser jewellers on
Orb of Storms and add supports to various skill gems.
ACT 3 SKILL USAGE:
Sigil of Power is found on a
Chiming Staff. You can make use of weapon swaps in order to get this massive DPS buff while still using a different staff for your damage. Here is a youtube video guide on how to set up weapon swaps. You don't have to use the different weapon swap passive trees, just make sure your spells are allocated onto the correct weapon, as shown in the video.
Elemental Weakness should be cast only on bosses, alongside
Frost Bomb. These are MASSIVE damage amps, especially since now with frost bomb, we are scaling a ton of exposure effect on the tree. This is how I am deleting these bosses in the demo run I provided on youtube.
Mana Tempest I did not use this in my test run. I am including this here because it does add alot of damage, but it does come at the cost of a big mana drain. If you decide to add this button into your rotation, its GREAT at clearing mobs, and you want to press it and then immediately step out of it. The reality is that Orb of Storms + Spark is already fantastic and this is almost overkill, but it is definitely worthy of mentioning as a great tool to boost the build further.
Mana Remnants or
Arctic Armour, whichever one you did not take earlier. If you have extra spirit from gear, you can add Clarity I or Vitality I to either of these auras, or you can choose to use ONE of the auras and then add these supports. Flexible as everything here provides some form of comfort.
ACT 4 SKILL USAGE:
Nothing changes
INTERLUDES SKILL USAGE:
By this point some tier 1 supports can be upgraded further. Nothing important to mention though.
ENDGAME SETUP
I recommend grabbing
Call of the Brotherhood to freeze enemies, as it's a great budget (as well as expensive) defensive layer. Because all our damage will be cold, we need to swap ascenancy from
Constant Gale into
Shaper of Storms in order to keep our shock chance.
We also want to spec
Chaos Inoculation asap to avoid chaos and bleed damage. The best ways to scale energy shield are the body armor and the helmet.
ADDING ON CRIT
We can easily add a ton of damage with crit scaling, if we can afford the
Maligaro's Virtuosity gloves. These gloves lock crit damage at a massive 250%, and it cannot be raised or lowered by any means. Therefore we can leverage Pinpoint Critical on
Spark as well as
Orb of Storms for massive crit chance while ignoring the downside. We can also spec
Careful Assassin on the tree for a ton of crit chance while avoiding the downside. This is very efficient damage scaling, although the gloves can be expensive.
