Making your base is a big step in the early game, especially since the fabricator in the life pod locks you out of a ton of recipes, meaning you are required to make one eventually.
But before you can even make one, you need something. A Habitat Builder.
Getting the Habitat builder
To get the Habitat Builder, you need to get 2 fragments to unlock the blueprint. Some of the easiest locations are:
Outside the welcome centre, 90 meters southeast of the lifepod.
Below the Digestion Adaptation Chamber, 150 meters North of the lifepod.

1 x Basic Battery
1 x Copper Wire
Creating your first Base and Important Structures
Unfortunately, your first base will not be pretty; you need efficiency above anything to not waste resources.
This means that, unfortunately, your base will look like a tube for the first couple of days, on which you can expand later.
Some structures have priority; we will first go over these, and afterwards go over what we can use to improve the base.
Fabricator, the most important tool in your base, is used to craft almost everything

1 x Copper
1 x Quartz
Wall Locker, the first real chest to store your items in
2 x Titanium
Biobed, your respawn point
3 x Titanium
1 x Glass
1 x Copper Wire
Solar Panel: Gives power to your base. Without it, you cannot use your base, nor can you breathe inside
1 x Titanium
2 x Quartz
Power Storage: Stores power; without it, you will be without power at night. Blueprint needs to be scanned and found.
3 x Titanium
2 x Salt
1 x Germanium Ingot
Processor: Used to craft Ingots and more advanced materials
2 x Titanium
1 x Mild Acid
1 x Copper Wiring
NoA Terminal: Used to interact with NoA outside of the lifepod. Also used to find Blackboxes.
3 x Titanium
1 x Glass
1 x Copper Wire
These are the most important recipes to get your base started. You should always prioritize these cause the rest of the base is made using them.
You can easily expand your base using the build feature of the Habitat Builder, which is very user-friendly and easy to use.
But don't just place your base in the first best location; maybe you want to use the ocean currents for energy? Maybe you want to use heat for energy? These are things to think about after you finish your first base cause maybe you know a better location to make your permanent base!
Upgrading your Base
Now that we have a good basic base, we can expand upon that with more stations, maybe some fashionable decoration if you want to make it pretty, and eventually a Moonpool with a Tadpole to traverse the ocean. Let's start with some extra stations we can use:
Battery Terminal: Used to recharge empty batteries
2 x Titanium
2 x Quartz
1 x Copper Wire
Power Cell Terminal: Used to recharge empty power cells
3 x Titanium
3 x Copper
1 x Wiring Kit
Scanner Station: Used to scan for mineral locations, Altera bases, Anomalies, and eventually Biohacking Chambers.
1 x System Chip
3 x Titanium
1 x Wiring Kit
Bioreactor: Turns bionic matter into energy
2 x Titanium Ingot
2 x Copper Ingot
Time of Day Display: Displays the time of day
1 x Titanium
1 x Enameled Glass
1 x Copper
Thermal Plant: Turns heat into energy
3 x Titanium
3 x Copper
3 x Gold
Hydroelectric Turbine: Turns water currents into electricity(place only inside natural water currents)
3 x Titanium
3 x Copper
3 x Silver
Those are all the less important crafts that still add value to your base, but there is one thing we didn't mention. How to add a part to your base for the Tadpole:
Tadpole Dock: Used to dock and charge your Tadpole
2 x Titanium Ingot
1 x Silver Ingot
2 x Copper Wire
Vehicle Fabricator: Used to craft vehicles
2 x Titanium Ingor
1 x Copper Ingot
2 x Glass
Moonpool: Used to go into the ocean, dock your Tadpole using the Tadpole Dock, and craft vehicles using the Vehicle Fabricator
4 x Titanium
That's all the crafting stations. If you want more insight into how to upgrade or craft the Tadpole, check out my guide for the Tadpole: Tadpole Guide
