Build Overview and Variants

Maximized DPS Speed Farming Charge Blade

This Build maximizes the Charge Blade's Raw Damage by creating a risk vs reward system by utilizing Gore Magala's Tyranny and Antivirus to reach capped Affinity using Maximum Might & Weakness Exploit while maximizing Raw Attack power at the same time at the expense of all else. Recommended for Experienced Users Only.

How To Play

Gear Choices

For our Chrono Gear we want 6 or 7 Raw Attack Lines and 1-2 Sharpness Lines and Paralysis for extra CC potential or Blast for Slightly more DPS. With only 1 Sharpness you might be inclined to replace your Quickswitch/KO Jwl with Rzr Sharp/Handicraft Jwl as staying in White Sharpness every phase of an encounter is crucial to DPS. With 2 Sharpness lines however Quickswitch/KO Jwl Will chain stuns & paralysis back to back very easily even against powerful tempered opponents leading to a greater degree of DPS than an Attack Jewel IIIwould in most situations not to mention how much better your combat flow will feel thanks to Rapid Morph. Critical Jewel III is mandatory to take advantage of our 100% Affinity (Crit Rate) and Magazine/Attack Jwl Further improves our combat flow with Load Shells with some extra raw attack to boot with 1/5 Attack Boost. If you don't care for Rapid Morph or Load Shells for some reason, replace these two with 5/5 Attack Boost I suppose, but I can't say I care for the generic set personally.

Corrupting Mantle is by far the best mantle to use on every build period. It starts off by draining your health and increasing your affinity by 10%, but charges up through consecutive attacks ending the health drain. After it's charged you gain 10% more Affinity and 20 extra Attack until the Mantle ends, giving you capped affinity even when not hitting a wound.

G. Veldian Sibilus II can be played before or between combat segments to give yourself Attack Up (L) in your opener, Not a particularly necessary optimization, but one you might as well have at your disposal so your secondary weapon is good for "something" Any horn with Attack Up (L) Works here.

G. Fulgur Helm β socketed with Mighty Jewel gets us 2/5 of our Agitator and 1/3 of our Maximum Might Greatly improving our DPS and available very early on in HR.

Arkvulcan Mail β socketed with Chain Jewel & Mighty Jewel get's us a variety of strong passives granting a level of Weakness Exploit Maximum Might and our Burst 1/5, Burst 1/5 is great value as it's functionally 8 raw attack with 100% uptime, this is more valuable then taking our Agitator from 4 to 5/5 as we don't need anymore affinity and Burst has better uptime/raw attack.

G. Arkveld Vambraces β Is an extremely high value piece giving us not only 2/5 Weakness Exploit but 3 Level 1 Sockets to play with, 2 of these must go to Sane Jewel for Antivirus, but the last socket can be anything you desire, personally I leave it as a Protection Jewel for Divine Blessing.

Gore Coil β This piece sucks as Constitution is pretty worthless for us, but we need two pieces of this set somewhere for Gore Magala's Tyranny which is worth it on it's own. We do still get a Challenger Jewel and Mighty Jewel to finish out our 3/3 Maximum Might and gets us 1/5 Agitator.

Gore Greaves β This piece is equally terrible but necessary, a level of Antivirus isn't worthless but it is very low value, as is one level of Flinch Free. We us it's sockets to finish our 4/5 Agitator with another Challenger Jewel and get two more flex level 1 decoration sockets, I recommend one of them be Shockproof Jewel for Shock Absorber in multiplayer, and another level of Divine Blessing via Protection Jewel.

Afflicting ourselves with Frenzy and Corrupting Mantle makes this set dangerous to run if you're not locked in, but the pay off is 100% Affinity, Huge amounts of Raw Attack Power, and the ability to Chain CC even the most powerful Monsters in the game. If you start the fight off poorly though it's going to quickly result in getting you carted off, so be careful when running this set or instead choose to run my comfy version of my charge blade build https://mobalytics.gg/mhw/builds/balanced-burst-charge-blade-eravin

Consumables

The best meal for damage is Meat + Airy Egg + Eastern Honey
Meat gives +2 Attack, Airy Eggs gives Caprice Meal (Hi) for 10 extra Attack while active, and Eastern Honey gives you Medic Meal for improved healing.

Make regular usage of Mega Demondrug and Mega Armorskin, which grants you +7 Attack and +25 Defense for 30 minutes.
You can pop these when you eat your meal while equipped with 3/3 Item Prolonger to make them last 45 minutes saving you materials.
You can also Might Pill in your opener for +25 Attack for 20 seconds.
If you want to go nuts then Might Seed gives 10 Attack for 3 minutes.
Demon Powder a further 10 Attack for 3 minutes, all of this stacks.

Carry Shock and Pitfall traps as well as a tranquilizer consumable to utilize when you hear the call out informing you the monster is getting weak or when you see a skull icon on the monster on the minimap indicating it can be captured ending the hunt quicker then slaying it.

Rotation & Combat Flow

When playing for Savage Axe after charging your shield you absolutely want to overcharge your phials as that overcharge damage is going to be utilized for the next several minutes. Next we need to get into Savage Axe Mode, if at any point during the building phase you perfect guard and enter it through a counter attack that's great, but if that hasn't happened by the time you have overcharged phials and a shield infusion, you're either going to fish for a perfect guard to counter off, Look to perform a mount on the monster assuming it's off cooldown, or attempt to cause a wound so you can Double Rend to enter Savage Axe. The act of actually getting into Savage Axe can vary in the amount of time required, If you're sitting on overcharged phials for an awkwardly long period of time, attempting to cause a wound to rend with elemental discharges or SAEDs can be a good way to fill the gap. Wounds get harder to cause the longer the fight goes on, So you'll want to practice your perfect guard timing as a reliable method with no diminishing returns.

Once you get into Savage Axe Mode, You'll want to spend as much time as possible shredding with Held elemental discharge 1 and 2, after your second discharge you can either continue the combo with a Standard Attack in Axe Mode which you can also choose to hold down then loop back to discharges, or if you have the opening begin spending your phials half of one at a time by activating AEDs after your discharge 2 with a further held heavy attack as well as the proceeding follow-up, as these will deal extremely high damage in exchange for that half a phial. Axe mode in general I find much more user friendly when played almost entirely in focus mode, as the attacks are quite slow and are typically better when aimed manually.

Stay Mobile with your Sword Mode Focus attack and Heavy Attack Dash, Don't over commit with your axe and try to read the situation for when you need to go on the defensive with Sword Mode before it's to late.
