Build Overview

Thief is undoubtedly one of the strongest runners in the game when it comes to the buffs you can receive while passively playing the game through looting. Her base trait The Finer Things already boosts handling and grapple recharge speed based on how many items you have in your bag, but you can also build into this with cores as well. Both Botique and Greed is Good increase these benefits further, by adding Reload Speed and Agility (movement speed & jump height) bonuses to you as well if you have a full bag. Through implants and faction tree upgrades, this build gives you 100 Loot Speed, perfect for speeding up the looting process, while also giving you improvements to key stats that will aid you in combat.

Strengths And Weaknesses

  • Great mobility
  • Fast looting
  • Not reliant on high tier cores
  • Inventory management can be difficult as this build wants you to have a full bag
  • Not super beneficial to a squad
  • Not a stealthy build, grapples are easy to notice/hear

Build Variants

Low-Tier Loot: Grey/Green rarity loot

Mid-Tier Loot: Blue rarity loot

Weapons/Equipment: The WSTR Combat Shotgun is my go to choice right now on Outpost, with close quarters action consistently, and this weapon being readily available from Arachne, it's a must use. If you aren't running Outpost, I would argue switching it up for a Longshot if you prefer sniper gameplay. Depending on your choice for the hard hitting weapon, I would choose to go with one of 4 options:

- The Stryder M1T or M77 Assault Rifle have been my go-to when paired with the Shotty. Both provide great longer ranged options, while still being solid up close.

- The Bully SMG or Copperhead RF have been what I like to pair with a Sniper. The Bully is a slow firing, but harder hitting SMG, and is easily more available than the Copperhead, but the Copperhead is better for ammo economy, and is super strong up close too.

For equipment, there are a few options to choose from. EMP Grenade is by far the best for PvE, especially useful when doing in-game events that spawn multiple enemies in one spot, or for Boss Fights. Frag Grenade, Heat Grenade and Flechette Grenade are all great PvP oriented options.

Cores/Implants: Botique & Greed is Good are the only cores you need, both providing great passive benefits tying into Thief's trait The Finer Things. Botique adds to the bonuses The Finer Things gets with Reload Speed and Agility. While Greed is Good makes your sprint and slide much faster/further while your backpack is full.

The Implants Ping+ V2, Nimble Fingers V2 & Graceful Landings V2 (Any Tier) are fantastic options for Thief, providing stat bonuses in some of the best categories for her (Loot Speed, Agility, Ping Duration).

How It Works

Before you even enter a run, you should have a good idea of what loot you want to be going in for, whether that's a money run (Sellable Focus) or a salvage run (Upgrade Material Focus), this way you aren't spending too much time with inventory management, because you will want to fill your backpack up as quickly as possible to gain the most benefits out of your cores.

In the run, start by hitting your nearest POI, filling your bag up to hit those benefits from The Finer Things, Botique & Greed is Good. Once you're filled up, you're good to go. This is the main loop of the build, because now you have increased Grapple recharge, faster movement speed, better reload speed and weapon handling. Super simple build to get going and to use.

Faction Priority

- CyberAcme: Heat_Sink.exe (+20 Heat Capacity, Rank 1), Quick_Vent.exe (Heat Recovery Speed -20%, Rank 4), Active_Coo.exe (Heat Recovery Rate +15%, Rank 13) Scavenger.exe (Loot Speed +20, Rank 1, 4, 16). These should be the main focus in this tree, all providing HUGE benefits to Thief and this build.

- Arachne: Hard_Strike.exe (+20 Melee Damage, Rank 5), MIPS Shotgun (Unlocks WSTR Combat Shotgun for purchase, Rank 7). The Melee damage is fantastic for low-tier UESC, but the Shotgun unlock is HUGE for just being able to purchase it and get back into a run with one.

- Sekiguchi: Thief Cores (Rank 3), Tac_Amp.exe (+30 Tactical Recovery, Rank 2), Head_Start.exe (Partial fill of Tactical on Start of run, Rank 4). The cores is the most vital, but the other 2 are absolutely fantastic for quicker grapples in runs.
