The medic class is a cornerstone of any competitive team no matter what game you play. In Marathon
Triage is an absolute must to survive the challenges of Tau Ceti IV. The gear that we show below for the beginner section are pretty easy to find out in the world with looting events and defeating world enemies. You can even find many of these from random drone crates or supply drops as well. With our min/maxed build it will require looting and events in some of the higher tiered maps. Overall these builds give you all the tools needed to ensure your team thrives in fights whether its enemy squads or UESC troops!

Equipment

Lets look at the gear you should be bringing in for these first runs on Tau Ceti IV.
1.) For weapons the
BR33 Volley Rifle and
V75 Scar are your bread and butter. Volley Rifle is the most coveted weapon out there for any fight due to it's ability to shred in close and long range fights. The Scar on the other hand is perfect for
Triage's Overload ability. You'll activate @EMP's on targets shields when breaking them while also dominating in close quarters.
2.) For your Shields and Backpack obviously bring in the biggest shield you can find. Every bar of health matters in this game especially on shields. Your backpack will be the big one here for you. Focus on equipping Med Pack Backpacks due to the higher level of healing you get from them. Remember you share healing with teammates that have your
Med-Drone on them so faster healing is optimal for the whole team.
3.) When it comes to Cores you need to focus on abilities that help the whole team. Lower level
Triage cores focus on the offensive abilities of
Battery Overcharge while later cores build up your entire team.
4.) Implants ultimately will be up to your own play style and how you want to play. For this beginner build we recommend focusing on building up your team with mods that benefit them. There are plenty out there to give you bonuses, but being the healer means making sure the team stays afloat.
How It Works
So how should you play
Triage when you're first starting out? First lets do a quick overview of
Triage's abilities and how it all works.
1.)
Med-Drone - This small floating robot is what you'll focus on the most while on a run. The
Med-Drone attaches itself to you and your teammates filling basic health first and the into shields. What's also nice about this little bot is it will ensure you don't bleed out if you get knocked in a fight. Make sure to crawl away if you can into a corner and
Med-Drone will keep you healthy until your team arrives. Also if your drone is low on healing you can recharge it by interacting with a new one.
2.)
Shareware.exe - This ability works in tandem with your
Med-Drone while it's on a teammate. Whenever you heal yourself or use a consumable it shares those benefits with your team as well. This is massive for fights meaning you can consistently boost your team as long as they have a drone on them.
3.)
Battery Overcharge - This is the offensive ability of this medic classes kit. When activated you sacrifice heat for a boost to performance with your weapons. If you are using a Volt weapon breaking an enemy shield creates an EMP that affects nearby enemies as well. This is great for close quarter combat since that small blast will have a big affect.
4.)
Reboot+ - This Prime ability might be the strongest in the game for its defensive and offensive capabilities. When activated you charge up energy and can release it to revive downed teammates and EMP enemies it touches. This ability only works on two targets at once, but this is massive for getting back into the fight if you're the last member of your team.
Now we must remember that even though
Triage is the healing character they have multiple abilities that have offensive use. Because of this your positioning in fights should put you mid-range and behind your team. You are going to be the one who's focused on reviving your teammates that fall in a fight and getting
Med-Drone to those in need. At the same time you have the ability to EMP targets with your Volt weapons so don't sit out of fights. Stick with your team in each fight and keep an eye out to make sure they have a
Med-Drone to share heals.
Faction Priority
When it comes to factions the three biggest to focus on will be CyberAcme, NuCaloric and Arachne.
1.) CyberAcme is your general bonus faction starting out. You get bonuses to your vault space, wallet, heat meter, and much more. You absolutely should feed into this to make sure all your basic needs are met while out in Tau Ceti IV. Definitely focus on the ones for your heat meter since that can be make or break in a fight.
2.) NuCaloric or NuCal is your biggest health based faction. They provide you with basic healing and consumables that benefit you and your team while in battle. Remember teammates that share your
Med-Drone benefit from any health or consumable you use so make sure to stock up!
3.) Arachne is going to be the faction you slay out with. Not only do you get bonuses for offense, but Arachne also provides bonuses for reviving teammates and health within their tree. I personally didn't think I would invest much time into them, but I was completely wrong once I saw the faction tree. Slay out Runners!
