Overview

Scylla is the singing Guardian of Oceanus. Fighting all three sirens can feel chaotic and makes it difficult to survive. When you understand what attacks belong to each of these three foes, the fight becomes much more manageable.

Don't get distracted by their songs like Odysseus' men did!

TLDR Scylla Guide

  • Attack all three. Roxy is an easy target to stay near because she doesn't move and her attacks are fairly easy to dodge. Try to keep damage on Roxy plus at least more siren at all times.
  • Hitch makes the fight significantly easier. All three sirens share a single health pool, so Hitch damage adds up quickly.
  • Maintain a bit of distance. Stay near the edge of your optimal attack range. The space will help you evade their faster attacks.

General Tips and Tricks

Managing Three Foes

You'll often need to dodge more than one attack at a time. Try to not tunnel vision on any one sirens attack. Keep a survey of the screen around Melinoë.

One Tip that is a bit specific to speedrunning or when you have a very high damage build going is to focus Jetty (Guitar) first. You can phase her before she dives and moves to a random location on the map.

Phases

All three sirens have multiple phases. Once you've deal enough damage to one, they become impervious until you've damaged through the phases of the remaining sirens. After All three sirens have been phased, Scylla will select a Featured Artist. The selected foe will have buffs and improved effects to their base attacks.

Positioning and Distance

The easiest way to defeat the sirens without taking too much damage is to employ a hit and run playstyle. Dash away from every attack. None of them individually attack rapidly, so you'll always have a window of time to counter attack after dodging their attack.

Staying too close to Jetty and Scylla can make it difficult to react to the Guitar Dash and Spike Shells, and orbs. But too far away and you'll be vulnerable to random orbs, and might not see a dash coming. When using an Weapon with good range like Aspect of Melinoë or Aspect of Charon, keeping your distance while attacking is a nice and easy strategy.

Vow of Frenzy

(Later in the game)

After you've unlocked the Oath of the Unseen, you'll be able to invoke the Vows. At rank 2, Vow of Frenzy increases move and attack speed of Guardians. All the same tips will still apply, and you can dodge all of their attacks using the same methods. You'll just have less time to react and tighter windows to dodge.

Scylla Mechanics

Scream

When you see Scylla take a breath, you have two options: Run away and keep outside of her screams range, or stay close to her and rotate behind her as she rotates.

Rotating Lasers

The lasers first come out stationary, then Scylla will start rotating. Either Dash through the individual laser, or Dash outside of the laser's range. She won't be able to chase after you while using this attack.

Scylla Orb

The slow moving orb is easy to avoid as long as you see it coming. Keep an eye out, it always spawns form her body floats towards you. You can dash straight through it if need be.

Scylla Punch

Watch for her white flashing wind up animation, and dash sideways. She'll always punch directly in front of her.

Spiked Shells

Most of the time you won't be able to run away from the spiked shells. Your best option is to wait, and Dash straight through them towards Scylla.

Featured Artist

Scylla can chose herself, Roxy, or Jetty to be the Featured Artist. Whichever one selected will gain improved effects to their standard attacks.

  • Scylla Featured Artist launches multiple Scylla Orbs, has increased Scream range, and will shoot out spiked shells while using the rotating laser.
  • Roxy Featured Artist drum blast will first spawn a cluster of blast zones around herself. She'll also start changing the direction of the blast to include sideways patterns.
  • Jetty Featured Artist guitar dash produces two damaging waves instead of one.

Reinforcements of Oceanus

Once you've fought your way through Roxy and Jetty's 2nd phases, and get Scylla down to 10% health, she'll spawn in a school of Pinhead fish. You'll need to dodge them while rotating in front of Scylla to finish her off. She'll keep turning away from you, trying to block your attacks with her shell.

Immediately start attacking Scylla before the fish make it to you. If you start getting overwhelmed, run away and kill a few fish before going back in for the finisher.

Roxy Mechanics (Drummer)

Drum Blasts

The damage zones will glow red before exploding. They always follow an ordered pattern in one direction. If you are standing on a glowing area, dash towards the direction they came from so you won't have to worry about the follow up explosions.

Outer Area Explosion

When the entire map glows except a small circle around Roxy, run inside the circle and unload damage on her. Don't leave until after the explosion. Even if you get hit by a normal attack like Scylla's Scream, that will deal far less damage than if you accidentally step outside the safe zone trying to dodge.

Inner Area Explosion

After exploding the outside area, she'll switch to a small circle around herself. Run away to the outside, but be ready to have to run back in. The inner area explosion is faster than the outer area explosion.

Roxy Featured Artist

  • Roxy Featured Artist drum blast will first spawn a cluster of blast zones around herself. She'll also start changing the direction of the blast to include sideways patterns.

Jetty Mechanics (Guitarist)

Guitar Dash

Jetty's main attack is to dash straight at you. Dash sideway, perpendicular to her dash path. At the end of her dash, she'll send out shockwaves, that you'll need to either run away from, or dash through.

Small Guitar Orbs

Jetty strums her guitar to fire out small orbs. They travel in a straight line, then explode when they hit the ground. Stay away from these, and try to get around Jetty, or focus on a different siren.

Jetty Featured Artist

Jetty Featured Artist guitar dash produces two damaging waves instead of one. The new effect is she generates one shock wave at the start of the dash in addition to the regular one at the end of the dash.

Sound Waves

Jetty rocks out hits power chords that send out sounds waves. They will stun you, but deal no damage. Be careful because you'll likely be hit by Scylla or Roxy's attack when stunned.

Helpful Boons

Hitch

Hera's Curse effect, Hitch, is the deadly tool to use against Scylla in Hades 2. The shared damage of Hitch is insanely strong because all of the sirens share a single health pool. The exact weapon doesn't matter too much here, but inflicting Hitch with any of Hera's core boons (outside of Born Gain) will make this fight feel like a cool ocean breeze.

Cast Boons

Because Roxy doesn't move, Casts are very potent when used on her. Any damage overtime like Smolder Ring and Storm Ring destroy her. Additionally, she's a good target for Omega Casts so be she to take advantage of her lack of mobility.
