Character Profile

Zibai is a Geo on-field DPS, and the premium Lunar Crystallize on-field carry of Nod-Krai. Lunar Crystallize is one of the 3 Lunar Reactions and is the most different from its base iteration in Crystallize. Zibai is one of the strongest on-fielders in the game, with that power being relatively easy to access at a lower investment. She is also relatively simple to play, with some (but little) room for optimization. Being as strong as she in Lunar Crystallize setups comes at the cost of being highly inflexible, with Lunar Crystallize and teammates that synergize with it being her only real options. Columbina is a particularly important teammate for her, arguably even moreso than for other Lunar archetypes.

This general inflexibility and her reliance on the Lunar Crystallize reaction can lead to her occasionally not being as good at clearing content unfavorable to her as the other top tier carries, but Zibai remains an excellent unit.

Zibai's Burst is not essential to use, but it is a good bit better to use it than not. Her team provides her with ample Energy, although she might still need to build a small amount of ER otherwise. Building ER in a way that cuts into her offensive substat can end up to be a damage loss though, and adjusting the rotation or weapons on her other teammates might be a more worthwhile option.

Elemental Mastery substats are about as good as DEF% substats, but EM mainstats are practically never as good as DEF% mainstats.

Best Teams

Zibai Lunar Crystallize

Zibai - Columbina - Linnea - Illuga

  • Columbina can be replaced by other Hydro options such as Aino or Xingqiu, but they're generally quite subpar to her. She is by far the strongest option in any Lunar team, but that's especially true for Zibai. C2 Nilou is the only competitive alternative.
  • Either Linnea or Illuga can be replaced by units such as Gorou at C6, Ineffa to form a hybrid Lunar Crystallize + Lunar-Charged team, Zhongli for added defensive utility (generally unnecessary), or Xilonen at C2. C2 Xilonen is by far the most competent of these replacements.

Generally considered to be one of the strongest premium teams in the game. This team provides ample Geo application for more Lunar Crystallize damage and buffs Zibai as much as possible while still having solid Sub-DPS in Columbina and Linnea. Linnea can heal the team when required, which tends to be more than good enough thanks to Zibai’s very high DEF stat. Illuga should ideally be on SMS, but requires C2 or higher to do so. The listed alternatives can result in a significant downgrade, particularly in the Columbina slot, but the team should generally not have too many issues even with them in most endgame scenarios.

Example Rotation

  1. Columbina Skill Eternal Tides + Burst Moonlit Melancholy
    →
  2. Linnea Skill Countermeasure: Lumi's Battle Cry! or Burst Memo: Survival Guide in Extreme Conditions (if healing is required)
    →
  3. Illuga Burst Shadowless Reflection + Skill Dawnbearing Songbird (to feed Geo Particles to Zibai)
    →
  4. Zibai on-field combo

Best Weapons

BiS Option: Lightbearing Moonshard

Zibai’s Signature weapon. It’s a big bundle of stats. The massive Crit DMG secondary is perfect for her, as she gains 30 Crit Rate from Night of the Sky’s Unveiling and another 5-10 from Illuga.

Limited 5 star alternatives:

Light of Foliar Incision, Uraku Misugiri

Both are quite decent, and will generally outperform the 4 star alternatives.

Best free option: Flute of Ezpitzal

The Natlan craftable Sword is quite solid on her, and a great free option if you don’t want to bother with the stringest requirements of Harbinger of the Dawn; this is quite competitive with it, anyway.

Accessible alternative: Harbinger of Dawn

As Zibai is a DEF scaling character, the extremely low Base ATK of 3 star weapons is not a big deal for her. The Crit buffs are very powerful, but require Zibai to stay at very high HP throughout her field time. This will typically require more Linnea Burst uses than usual, so even though it is her free option ceiling in theory, it might not be so in practice.

Best Artifacts & Stats

BiS Option: Night of the Sky's Unveiling

Zibai’s unquestionable best set just like the other Moonsign carries. It’s found in the same domain as Silken Moon’s Serenade, another vital piece for Moonsign teams, and there’s no reason not to farm if you don’t have a set of either.

Alternatives: Husk of Opulent Dreams / 2p2p combos

Only good if you don’t have an NSU set yet. Use them while farming NSU. Make sure to farm NSU.

Talent Priority

  1. Elemental Skill
  2. Elemental Burst
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>
  3. Normal Attack

Zibai's Skill Talent contains the vast majority of her damage, with her Burst containing a smaller but important portion. Her Normal Attack talent is useless even though she uses quite a few Normal Attacks; those scalings are found in her Skill talent.

Constellations

C1Burst Forth With Vigor, But Enter in Silence
C2At Birth Are Souls Born, and in Death Leave But Husks
C3Free From Constraints and Worldly Ties
C4The Spirit Passes, Then Form Follows
C5Perceive the Worthless and Debate It Not
C6The World, A Journey in Passing

Overview

Zibai's Constellations are expectedly strong for a modern DPS. They tend to be strong, but not outstanding, and have stiff competition with Linnea's Constellations. Linnea's Constellations tend to win that contest.

Constellations Details & Approximate Damage Increase

C1: Changes Zibai’s gameplay by giving her an extra use of Enhanced Skill and letting her start with 100 Radiance. Thanks to how Zibai generates Radiance, this lets her use 2-3 Enhanced Skill essentially back to back, letting her frontload her damage in a very significant manner. It results in a team DPS increase of 10-15%, about as much as her Signature Weapon..

C2: Makes Zibai and her team do more damage, doesn’t affect her gameplay. Going from C1 Zibai to C2 Zibai is a roughly 15-20% team DPS increase, and C0 → C2 Zibai is generally a 30-35% team DPS increase. This is typically not as strong as going from C0 → C2 Linnea is, even for Zibai teams themselves, but Zibai's C1 or R1 are stronger than Linnea's C1 or R1.

C3: It’s decent, but it’s not great. Can vary in value, but won’t be much over 5-8% usually.

C4: Offers an okay amount of extra damage. Her combo not resetting when she dashes can be valuable against aggressive bosses.

C5: Negligible.

C6: Significantly changes her gameplay loop, as it strongly incentivizes Zibai to only her Enhanced Skills when her Radiance is at full, as it gives Zibai Elevation for consuming more than 70 Radiance. At max, this is 48% Elevation, meaning Zibai’s Enhanced Skills will deal 48% more damage than before. Very strong, but not particuarly outstanding in terms of modern C6 Constellations.

How to Play

Overview

Zibai is an on-field Lunar Crystallize DPS. She enters an Enhanced State through her Elemental Skill, in which she gains access to powerful Enhanced Skills. It also powers up her Burst by quite a bit. Zibai's field time is on the longer side, although there are optimizations to reduce it if necessary.

Lunar Crystallize

Lunar Crystallize is what Zibai relies on, both for her damage and functionality. When a Lunar Crystallize Reaction occurs, it will spawn 3 Geo constructs called ‘Moondrifts’ near the subject of the reaction. Regular Crystallize has an inherent cooldown of 1 second, but Lunar Crystallize does not. When subsequent Lunar Crystallize Reactions are triggered, they will attack the enemy based on the Elemental Mastery and Crit of the Reaction participants, every 3 Lunar Crystallizes. This means that more Geo application correlates directly to more Lunar Crystallize Reaction damage. The damage of the Moondrifts scales with the EM and Crit of the characters that participated in the Reaction, with priority given to the ones with the highest EM + Crit scaling. This is one of Zibai’s and her teams’ main sources of damage.

Zibai has the standard 5-star Moonsign passive of increasing the Base DMG of the Lunar Reaction she’s made around based on her own stats, which applies to both Reaction and Talent Lunar-Crystallize damage. Also, as a character dealing primarily Lunar Reaction damage, EM will directly scale her damage up by becoming equivalent to regular DMG% for non-Lunar damage.

Elemental Skill

Zibai’s Elemental Skill makes her enter an Enhanced State called Lunar Phase Shift, giving her a non-overrideable Geo Infusion for her Normal Attacks, an additional Lunar Crystallize damage hit on her 4th NA, as well as a new Enhanced Skill. Zibai will generate 1 Geo Elemental Particle when she hits an enemy while in this state on a 2 second cooldown, generating about 6 of them in total with her long field time. It is on an 18 second cooldown, and the cooldown begins when Zibai uses her Skill. This means Zibai is forced into rotations that are at least 18 seconds long.

To be able to use her Enhanced Skill, she has to build up a resource called Phase Shift Radiance. Zibai can get this resource from 3 sources:

  • Passively generating 10 a second while in Lunar Phase Shift
  • Hitting an opponent with a Normal Attack gives her 5, with a 0.5s cooldown
  • Gaining 35 Radiance when Lunar Crystallize is triggered, on a 4 second cooldown. Requires Ascendant Gleam, which Zibai will always want to have on her teams regardless.

Zibai has a maximum of 100 Radiance, and she needs to consume 70 to use her Enhanced Skill. This Enhanced Skill deals a small Geo damage hit followed by a very significant Lunar Crystallize Geo damage hit. Zibai can only use this ESkill a maximum of 4 times a rotation, exiting Lunar Phase Shift after she does so. Zibai will also naturally exit it after 15 seconds have passed, if she hasn’t used 4 ESkills.

Elemental Burst

Zibai’s Elemental Burst costs 60 Energy on a 15 second cooldown, and like her Enhanced Skill deals a smaller hit of Geo damage and a massive hit of Lunar Crystallize Geo damage. When used while ZIbai is in Lunar Phase Shift, it will extend the duration of the Enhanced State by 1.7 seconds, roughly as long as her Burst animation. Since Zibai generally doesn’t want to run the full duration of her Skill, this shouldn’t matter much. This Burst does a lot of damage and is generally worth weaving into her combos, but it generally isn’t worth sacrificing damage substats to build the ER for it.

Ascension Passive Details

On top of Zibai naturally wanting teams that are made up of Hydro and Geo characters exclusively thanks to how Lunar Crystallize works, her Ascension 4 passive incentivizes further by giving her stat buffs when Geo and Hydro characters are in the party. These aren’t very significant, so it is possible for Zibai to use a character like Ineffa without losing out on too much.

Additional Info

On-field Combo variation

There are a few combo variations that Zibai can perform that slightly alter her Geo application pattern and thus Phase Shift Radiance gain. Generally, because her rotations are locked to 18 seconds alongside her teammates not having very long animations, she doesn’t want to cut her field time too short. Here’s a few:

Notation used:

  • E = Skill
  • Q = Burst
  • N = Normal Attack
  • d = Dash

3N4E + N1QE or 4N4E: the most basic of her combos. If you don’t have Energy for her Burst, replace it with another N4. Use N1Q whenever Q is available. Zibai’s Radiance gain will roughly line up with one N4 giving you enough Radiance to use ESkill once

N1 Q N4E N1E N4E N4E: this allows Zibai to get an extra Geo application in her Normal Attack strings as well as catch all of her own Elemental Particles. It also lets her catch Illuga's Particles more reliably, significantly easing her Energy Requirements if necessary. It generally reliably lines up ESkill casts with the string here, but you might have to do N4E N4E N1E N4E sometimes. If the rest of the rotation is short enough, you can perform a full N4E for every ESkill cast. This is notable when Columbina is using Burst every other rotation.

N4d N4 E Q N1E N4E: backloads Zibai’s Skill casts, but deals them in a shorter window. Can be useful against bosses like the Lord of Hidden Depths or other similar bosses with short RES down phases.

With C1: E N1E QE N4E N4E: Zibai’s C1 changes her gameplay accordingly and lets her frontload even more. Replace N1E with another N4E if the rotation is too quick.

Release Date

Zibai was officially released as a playable 5-star Geo character in Genshin Impact on February 3, 2026, during the Version 6.3 update.
