Character Profile

Valeriyis a 4 star Electro Support, made to be used primarily in Electro Stellar-Conduct teams with some limited viability in other Electro teams. As a 4 star with an Electro Vision and no Stellar Linchpin, Valeriy will not inherently enable the Stellar-Conduct Reaction in his teams.

Valeriy's Skill provides an Electro Shield to the team, while his Elemental Burst will deal some off-field Electro DMG and periodically apply Electro. Due to this and how his buffs work, Valeriy's main niche is found in on-field Mitya teams and little else.

After using his Skill or Burst, Valeriy will gain a special resource called Impact Momentum. When he has enough Impact Momentum, he can consume it to cast a special Charged Attack, and after using it, he will provide quill-like effects to teammates' Electro DMG. Consuming more Impact Momentum than required will further increase this effect, based on the amount consumed, with this increase being tripled for Electro Stellar-Conduct DMG compared to other sources of Electro DMG.

As a 4 star character, further buffing and enhancements to his kit will be found in his Constellations and especially his C6, which contains the majority of his buffing.

  • At C0, Valeriy will only provide quills.
  • At C2, he will provide a teamwid 100 EM Buff.
  • At C6, he will give 10% Crit Rate to all Electro DMG and an additional 40% Crit DMG to Electro Stellar-Conduct DMG only.

Valeriy only becomes a worthwhile option with his Constellation 6, being entirely subpar without it even for Mitya teams. He will be featured on Mitya's banner, but as a newly released 4 star, acquiring his C6 without also getting some Mitya Constellations along the way will be a tall task.

Besides on-field Mitya, he will likely be decent for Cyno but probably not better than other options. He will not a better option than a unit like Sucrose in a Flins team or even Iansan in an Electro Varka team. He should be considered a Mitya exclusive support.

Valeriy will want to use his Elemental Burst every rotation in order to make his buff stronger. He should always be parked on Favonius Sword, which does ease his ER reqs a little.

His quills scale on his own ATK, so that should be the focus after ER. Crit Rate substats will be useful for Fav Sword procs.

Best Teams

Support for on-field Mitya

Mitya (or Cyno) - Odette - Valeriy - Yae Miko or Sucrose

  • At C6, Valeriy is one of Mitya's strongest support options, competitive with C1 Yae Miko and Sucrose. Without it, he's a mediocre option that provides nothing except quills and his Shield.
  • Mitya is a very vulnerable character while using his Enhanced CA, making said Shield quite strong for him against most enemies. He's a Catalyst and very easily staggerable, and the ECA has a ramp-up cast time. C6 Valeriy will be preferred for him because of this.
  • For Cyno teams, Valeriy can be worthwhile at C6 if looking for a solid defensive option, similar to Mitya. However, he is comparitively a bit worse there, as off-field Mitya himself is one of Cyno's strongest support options.

Best Weapons

Favonius Sword

Valeriy is a Sword user, and as a support of his type, Fav will be his strongest option bar none. Other ER weapons such as Xiphos' Moonlight could be useful alternatives. Lacking a Favonius Sword, any Sword with an ER secondary stat or other Energy refund mechanics will have to suffice.

Best Artifacts & Stats

Valeriy does not have access to many strong Support set options. He does not deal Stellar-Conduct damage, which will make triggering Heart of the Furnace consistently very difficult. Mitya teams don't use ATK, so Tenacity of the Millelith and Noblesse Oblige aren't very strong in those, though they should be decent in Cyno teams.

Instructor is a viable alternative if Valeriy is able to trigger a Reaction reliably, same with Heart of the Furnace.

Generally, Valeriy will have to settle for 2p2p ATK % options such as Gladiator's Finale and Fragment of Harmonic Whimsy. This will boost his quill values, and let him stack more ER. 2p is itself a viable alternative.

Talent Priority

Valeriy's Shield scales with the Talent Level of his Elemental Skill, so it will be worth levelling for Mitya teams. The rest of his talent values only boost Valeriy's own personal damage, which is negligible.

C4Fortitude Unshaken by Attrition

Overview

Valeriy is a 4 star and heavily reliant on his Constellation 6 to be a consideration for his niche, so C6 should be considered his baseline in terms of usability. His C0 kit is generally bad, and Valeriy has several important Constellations even before C6.

Constellation Details

  • C1: A significant Energy refund for Valeriy makes it much easier to use his Burst every rotation without requiring obscene amounts of Energy Recharge, particularly for the first rotation in a Stygian Onslaught encounter. The additional Impact Momentum on Valeriy's first Skill cast does alleviate not using his Burst on that first Stygian rotation, but using it will be worth it anyway if possible.
  • C2: Valeriy will now provide a teamwide bonus of 100 Elemental Mastery after using his Skill. This bonus will last for 18 seconds, which should be roughly the rotation time for Mitya teams. The additional shielding doesn't change much.
  • C3: Useless.
  • C4: Makes his quills a good bit stronger. Not particularly valuable, but alright.
  • C5: Useless.
  • C6: Valeriy only becomes decent upon acquiring this Constellation. The bulk of the buff is the 40% Crit DMG for Electro Stellar-Conduct DMG, which is only usable by the aforementioned Mitya and Cyno. The 10% Crit Rate to all types of Electro DMG will not be enough on its own to make him a consideration for any other team.
    • C6 Valeriy will generally be wanted for most Mitya teams below certain vertical investment thresholds. He buffs Mitya more than almost any other character, and other shield options aren't worth using.

Release Date

Valeriy will be released alongside the launch of Patch 7.2.
