Character Profile

Xilonen is a Nightsoul Geo support that Shreds nearby enemy RES through her Skill and is able to heal through her Elemental Burst under certain (loose) conditions. A fairly simplistic kit that can nonetheless be a solid option for a breadth of teams thanks to her short animation times and access to Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City or other artifact support options.

Although generally falling behind more specialized options, she remains a solid pick for teams like Mavuika and Arlecchino Melt, Mualani Vape teams, as well as Lohen + Durin teams. She is able to be used with some newer characters like Flins or Sandrone, although she might not necessarily be the best option without her Constellation 2. A solid generalist pick that is rarely the absolute best in the slot.

Energy Recharge Requirements: N/A - 200%

Xilonen's stats are not important except in specific conditions:

  • A little DEF % if she has Peak Patrol Song
  • Crit Rate with Favonius Sword
  • Energy Recharge if she's using her Burst, and DEF % for the healing.

Xilonen does not want to use her Elemental Burst if she can. It is a long animation that does nothing besides heal. The only team it is notably useful in is Neuvillette + Furina.

Best Teams

Pyro Teams

Mavuika

Mavuika - Citlali - Xilonen - Bennett or Nicole

Xilonen is one of Mavuika’s best 4th slots for Melt teams next to Iansan, although outdone by a C6 Iansan if Xilonen doesn’t have her Signature,Peak Patrol Song, or her C2. There are other team styles that Xilonen is good for, such as Mono Pyro alongside Iansan or Kaedehara Kazuha.

Arlecchino

Arlecchino - Citlali - Xilonen - Bennett

Typically Arlecchino’s best 4th slot in Melt teams, and usually BiS in Mono Pyro teams. Same deal as Mavuika. She can also slot into a Vaporize team next to Mona + Nicole, although the Sucrose version tends to be stronger.

Example Rotation:

  1. Mavuika Skill
    →
  2. Bennett Skill
    →
  3. Xilonen Skill + N2
    →
  4. Bennett Burst
    →
  5. Citlali Skill + Burst
    →
  6. Mavuika Burst + Melt combo

Cryo Teams

Sandrone

Sandrone - Yae Miko - Xilonen - Qiqi

One of Sandrone’s best RES Shred options presently, as she also shreds Electro for Yae Miko. Typically scales better with Sandrone vertical investment than other options thanks to her uptime and buffs. Scroll is not a very good set here, but Instructor works alright.

Example Rotation:

  1. Yae Miko Skill x3
    →
  2. Qiqi Skill
    →
  3. Xilonen Skill + N2
    →
  4. Sandrone on-field combo (with Burst in-between CAs)

Lohen

Lohen - Durin - Xilonen - Nicole

The best RES Shred option for this team in terms of Lohen’s personal damage, and often generally the best period. Gets better than Citlali the more damage Lohen is doing, whether that's through a strong Weapon, Artifact investment, or better play. She cannot trigger Cryo Scroll generally, but the RES Shred she gives to Lohen outweighs most other buffs.

Example Rotation:

  1. Nicole Skill ( + Burst )
    →
  2. Durin Skill + N1 + Burst ( Dark Mode )
    →
  3. Xilonen Skill + N2
    →
  4. Lohen on-field combo

Hydro Teams

Mualani

Mualani - Xilonen - Mona - Durin

Although outdone by the Mona - Sucrose core nowadays, Xilonen remains a competitive Mualani option thanks to Durin. Durin might want to hold Celestial Gift over Mona, but either works.

Example Rotation:

  1. Mona Skill
    →
  2. Durin Skill + Skill or N1 + Burst ( either Mode is fine )
    →
  3. Mona Burst + N2 - N3
    →
  4. Xilonen Skill + N2
    →
  5. Mualani on-field combo

Neuvillette

Neuvillette - Furina - Xilonen - Kaedehara Kazuha

Neuvillette - Columbina - Xilonen - Ineffa

Xilonen is the strongest RES Shred slot for both versions of Neuvillette carry teams. She is able to reliably trigger Hydro Scroll thanks to how Lunar Crystallize interacts with a Lunar-Charged aura.

Example Rotation: Neuvillette Skill → Columbina Skill + Burst → Ineffa Skill → Xilonen Skill + N2 → Neuvillette CA + Skill + CA + Burst → Ineffa Burst → Xilonen Skill + N2 → Neuvillette CA + CA

Geo Teams

Navia

Navia - Xilonen - Durin - Nicole

Navia’s strongest 2nd Geo teammate. Unlike most other teams, Xilonen will want to switch in more than once in order to apply more Geo.

Example Rotation: Navia Burst → Nicole Skill (+ Burst) → Durin Skill + Skill + Burst ( Light Mode ) → Xilonen Skill + N2 → Navia on-field combo

Zibai (only with Xilonen's C2)

Zibai - Columbina - Xilonen - Linnea or Illuga

A competent Zibai 4th slot at C2 thanks to her always active Geo RES Shred. Scroll and Instructor are both fine and about as good as each other.

Example Rotation: Columbina Skill ( + Burst ) → Illuga Skill ( + Burst ) → Xilonen Skill + N2 → Zibai on-field combo

Electro Teams

Flins

Flins - Columbina - Ineffa - Xilonen

A strong 4th slot, though typically not as good as Sucrose. Can be as strong or stronger at C2 thanks to the Energy refund.

Example Rotation: Ineffa Skill ( + Burst ) → Columbina Skill ( + Burst) → Xilonen Skill + N2 → Flins on-field combo

Best Weapons

BiS Option: Peak Patrol Song

Xilonen’s Signature Weapons, it provides the entire team with 25.6% DMG Bonus. The conditional is automatically fulfilled with Xilonen’s Skill + N2. Can be used on other units like Albedo, but Xilonen is the only one who can make strong use of it. The DEF% requirement is very easy to fulfill.

Alternative: Favonius Sword

Her only real option besides her signature. Xilonen does not do a lot of damage or need any stats besides for her healing, so feeding the team more Energy ends up being worth it.

Other weapons to not do much. Freedom-Sworn can be a worthwhile alternative, though it requires some rotation shifts. Besides that, no other weapon will do more than Fav Sword will.

Best Artifacts & Stats

Typically BiS: Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City

Xilonen’s best buffing option by far, and will generally be one of the strongest buffing sets for any team. Xilonen can use Archaic Petra or Instructor without losing out on anything, so if there are multiple Nightsoul users in the same team, she should shift to one of those.

Alternative: Archaic Petra

35% DMG Bonus for a singular Element can be very powerful in Melt or Mono Pyro teams, though less so elsewhere. A strong option in Citlali Melt in particular.

Alternative: Instructor

The duration is quite short, especially considering Xilonen’s usual placement in the rotation, but the buff can be good.

Talent Priority

  1. Elemental Skill

Her Skill talent contains the entirety of Xilonen's kit value: her RES Shred. It is very much worth leveling. If her Elemental Burst's healing is valuable, you can also level that. Her NA Talent is worthless.

Constellations

C1Sabbatical Phrase
C2Chiucue Mix
C3Tonalpohualli's Loop
C4Suchitl's Trance
C5Tlaltecuhtli's Crossfade
C6Imperishable Night Carnival

Overview

Xilonen's Constellations are firmly on the bad side. Her C2 is decent and her C3 and C4 are occasionally useful, but the are more or less. useless in terms of damage.

Constellation Details

C1: Great for climbing and exploration, not so much for combat. The extra Interruption Resistance can be nice sometimes, like for Sandrone or Mualani teams.

C2: Xilonen’s only good supportive Constellation. While the effects have niche cases where they’re not very useful, they tend to be at least decent. Usually a team DPS increase of 10-15% depending on the Elemental makeup.

C3: An extra 9% RES Shred isn’t the worst thing in the world, but it’s not good either. Around 4% team DPS.

C4: There are teams that can make good use of these quills such as Arlecchino, but they’re typically not worth that much.

C5: More or less useless.

C6: Makes Xilonen a somewhat usable on-fielder, but doesn’t do anything for her as a support. Not good.

How to Play

Overview & Nightsoul's Blessing

Xilonen is a Geo Support that requires a specific Elemental makeup to be one. She provides RES Shred, and the rest of her utility is in her Artifacts and Weapon. She can technically play as a bad a Geo on-fielder in certain team setups.

Xilonen enters her Nightsoul’s Blessing stance through her Elemental Skill. She technically has two modes of use: one is as a support that she accesses when at least two Pyro / Hydro / Electro / Cryo units are in the party, and the second that she defaults to when that condition isn’t fulfilled. The RES Shred she causes is only accessible in the first mode of use, and will correspond to the team’s Elements. The second mode of use is intended as an on-fielder, and is not strong at all.

Elemental Skill & Nightsoul Points

Xilonen’s Elemental Skill will deal a bit of DEF-scaling damage to enemies hit by it, and also generate 4 Geo Particles if it hits an enemy. Xilonen will then enter her Nightsoul’s Blessing. She will gain 45 Nightsoul points out of a max of 90, and infuse her Normal Attacks with Geo. During this state, Xilonen will consume 5 Nightsoul per second while she’s not dashing or sprinting. Dashing consumes 5 Nightsoul on action, and various (normally exploration focused) actions will consume various amounts of Nightsoul points.

If the aforementioned Elemental teammate condition isn’t fulfilled, Xilonen becomes unable to gain further Nightsoul. She will only be able to lose Nightsoul, and she will keep her infusion. At C0 this has a maximum duration of 9 seconds.

If it is fulfilled, Xilonen’s Normal Attacks will instead grant her 35 Nightsoul points on hit through her Ascension 1 passive. When Xilonen reaches 90 Nightsoul points (so after 2 Normal Attacks performed quickly after her Skill cast) she will consume all of it and exit her Nightsoul’s Blessing, activating all ‘Samples’.

Source Samples

While Xilonen is in her Nightsoul’s Blessing state, she will gain 'Source Samples' corresponding to the Elements of her team. One of these will always be Geo, whereas the others will take after her teammates. This Geo Sample will always be active while Nightsoul’s Blessing is active in both of her states, whereas the rest of the Samples will only activate if Xilonen is able to fill and consume her Nightsoul gauge. Doing so will activate the non-Geo Elemental Samples and begin Shredding the corresponding Elemental RES of enemies near her. This effect has a duration of 15 seconds.

Her Skill has a 7 second cooldown, and this cooldown will only start after she exits her Nightsoul’s Blessing state.

Elemental Burst

Xilonen’s Elemental Burst has an Energy cost of 60 and a cooldown of 15 seconds. On cast, it will deal some DEF-scaling damage in an AoE around her. Depending on the same conditional as her Skill (the amount of PHEC units in the team), its follow-up effect will change.

If there are at least 2 PHEC characters in the team, she will begin healing the active character for an amount scaling with her DEF, healing them on 2 second intervals. The effect lasts for 12 seconds.

If the team does not contain 2 PHEC characters, she will instead cause follow-up DEF-scaling hits that deal the same damage as the original.

Additional Info

Additional Nightsoul Burst

With her Ascension 4 passive, Xilonen is able to trigger an additional Nightsoul Burst. While on its own the Nightsoul Burst might not do a lot, it has a very significant use of being able to trigger Scroll of the Cinder City’s effect an additional time. This is quite valuable in a team with Citlali, as the extra Energy does reduce her Energy Requirements by a decent amount.

C2 Details

With her C2, Xilonen will always shred the Geo RES of enemies as long as she is in the team, unconditionally. This makes her a halfway decent support for Zibai, though it is not useful for too much else.

Release Date

Xilonen was officially released as a playable 5-star Geo character in Genshin Impact on October 9, 2024, during the Version 5.1 update.
