Overview
Venti can function as either an on-field Anemo DPS, or an off-field support for Anemo units like Varka. He is technically able to be used by other Anemo DPS, but Venti will not be nearly as strong for them as for Varka.
Venti’s on-field state requires using Elemental Burst to access, and additionally requires Hexerei: Secret Rite to be active. This is also true for the buffs he can provide to other on-field Anemo DPS. Venti’s top performance with the strong Hexerei units is significantly higher than Venti’s performance without them, namely
Durin and
Nicole.
Elemental Burst
Venti’s Elemental Burst has a cooldown of 15 seconds and Energy cost of 60. One thing to note is that Venti’s Energy drain actually starts quite late, making the 15 second cooldown be higher than advertised and making it harder for Venti to catch Elemental Particles.
On cast, it will shoot a ‘vortex’ that pulls enemies in and deal fast-ticking periodic damage to enemies within its (relatively large) range. If it comes into contact with an enemy that has Pyro / Hydro / Electro / Cryo aura on them it will infuse that Element, and additionally deal a few periodic hits that deal the damage of the infused Element. It will check for enemies in the above order, so Pyro will always be prioritized if available.
Hexerei Buffs & Normal Attacks
If the team has Hexerei: Secret Rite active, Venti will turn his Normal Attacks into ‘Windsunder Arrows’ that deal significantly increased Anemo DMG. This Anemo infusion will last as long as Venti’s Burst is on the field. If these Windsunder Arrows hit an enemy they will extend the duration of Venti’s Burst by 2 seconds, giving it a total duration of about 10 seconds. This effect will also increase Venti’s Burst’s cooldown by 1 second.
Elemental Skill
Venti’s Elemental Skill will deal AoE Anemo DMG around the target enemy on cast. This Skill has a Press and a Hold version. The Hold version will take far longer to cast, deal more damage and also launch both Venti and enemies hit by it into the air. This is generally not going to be worth using in combat. The Press version has a 6 second cooldown and will generate 3 Anemo Particles on hit, whereas the Hold version’s cooldown is 15 seconds and it will generate 4 Anemo Particles.
Passives & further Hexerei Buffs
Venti’s Ascension 4 passive will give 15 Energy to all teammates of the Element Venti infuses with Wind’s Grand Ode after the effects are over, as well as refunding Venti the same 15 Energy no matter what. This Energy refund significantly reduces Venti’s and those teammates’ Energy Requirements.
Venti’s Hexerei passive will grant 50% DMG Bonus to the active character if they trigger a Swirl. If this passive triggers, it will also significantly increase the damage of Venti’s Burst. As said earlier, this is essentially exclusive to Venti and Varka.
