Character Profile

Prune is a 4* Anemo Support and primarily takes on the role of a buffer in Hexerei teams. Prune’s buffs are not entirely locked to Hexerei characters, but a lot of her kit’s power is locked behind Hexerei: Secret Rite and conditionals that are hard to fulfill without specific Hexerei units. While Prune’s kit is fairly decent at C0, her Constellations are powerful and will make her a much stronger option.

Able to slot into most Hexerei teams as a buffer, Prune will particularly shine in Varka teams and could be said to be made with them in mind. Prune’s buffing is also largely based on her own ATK, making her full potential difficult to reach without specific characters like Nicole.

Energy Recharge Requirements: 180 - 250%

Due to Prune's very high Energy Requirements, @favonius c\ will often be her best weapon. It will also significantly ease her team's ER requirements, often very appreciated in her best teams like Varka teams. If she and her team are able to fulfill these Energy reqs without Favonius weapons, she can opt to use a high ATK Weapon like Skyward Atlas, or Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers in Varka teams for additional Varka buffing.

Best Teams

Varka Carry

Varka - Prune - Durin - Nicole

  • Durin and Nicole can both be very difficult to replace in this team. Buffing alternatives like Bennett or Chevreuse at C6 are typically, but some off-field Pyro applicators like Xiangling can be alright.
  • Other Elemental combinations for Varka are outlined further in the Varka Guide; Prune is typically even more valuable in those teams, but the teams themselves aren't quite as good.

Prune at high Constellations, particularly C6, is the BiS Anemo support for this team. Varka essentially requires an Anemo support, making her a sure slot-in. At C2 or lower, she is more replaceable by units like Venti or Faruzan.

Example Rotation

  1. Durin Skill Binary Form: Convergence and Division + Skill + Burst Principle of Purity: As the Light Shifts ( Light Mode )
  2. Nicole Skill Revelation: Uncreated Light + Revelation: Ladder of Divine Ascent
  3. Prune Burst + Skill
  4. Varka on-field combo

Venti Carry

Venti - Prune ( C6 ) - Nicole - Durin

  • C6 Prune is BiS for this team for most Venti investments, although not necessarily that good before C6. A Venti at very high Constellation will prefer C6 Faruzan even over C6 Prune, but a C0 Venti will only prefer her if Prune isn't C6.
  • Stipulations about Durin and Nicole apply in the same ways as for Varka, but even more so because of Venti’s lower damage baseline.

Other Hexerei carries

Lohen - Prune - Durin - Nicole

C6 Prune can be a strong alternative to Citlali or Xilonen in a Lohen + Dark Mode Durin team. She buffs both Lohen and Durin by quite a bit, although she can only Swirl Pyro for her Viridescent Venerer.

Prune C6 is usually not the strongest option for any other Hexerei team, but she can do in a pinch. Before C6, Prune’s requirements tend to be too strict and her buffs not strong enough to compete with stronger supports.

Best Weapons

Best Energy Options:

Favonius Codex

Prune is a very Energy hungry unit, especially in optimal gameplay. Because she needs to build ATK of her own, Favonius’s Codex decent Base ATK is generally a boon. The clear particles will usually outweigh most other passives, especially as they help the rest of the team’s ER needs for units like Durin.

Oathsworn Eye

If Prune's ER requirements aren't particularly high and her team doesn't need the Fav particles, this is a great option for her buffing while taking care of some Energy needs.

High Base ATK Weapons:

Angelos' Heptades

Use this on Nicole instead if you’re using them together. If you somehow have it but not Nicole or are using Nicole on a different team in which she does not need to hold it, Prune can wield it decently to improve her own buffing.

Skyward Atlas

Not very far from the above.

Niche Buffing Option: Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers

A strong option for Varka, but generally not the best and comes with asterisks. TTDS has very low Base ATK and no Energy passive, making Prune’s build requirements very difficult to reach.

Best Artifacts & Stats

BiS Option: Viridescent Venerer

Prune is an Anemo character and her teams generally deal a good amount of non-Anemo DMG, making this a no-brainer for a team like Varka. It can lose efficiency in a team like Lohen + Durin since she won’t be able to Swirl both damaging Elements, while not being better than Noblesse Oblige in a Venti team.

Buffing alternative: Noblesse Oblige

Generally her best set in Venti teams and decent for Lohen teams. Prune does deal non-negligible Burst damage herself, so the extra Burst DMG% isn’t wasted.

Niche Buffing Alternative: Celestial Gift

Despite Prune being a Hexerei character, the teams she will generally be in make it a subpar option. Nicole will usually be a better holder because of the Element make-up, as will Durin. It can be usable for a team like Klee, though.

Personal Damage Option: A Day Carved From Rising Winds

An okay alternative if you want to focus on Prune’s personal damage or don’t have a good support set she can use.

2p2p combinations / Rainbow: Energy and ATK are the stats she needs, so focus on those.

Talent Priority

The only things Prune's Talents contain are her personal damage scalings. Prune deals non-negligible personal damage, but it's also not exactly particularly high. Her Elemental Burst is the most important, with her Elemental Skill coming in second and her Normal Attack being useless.

Constellations

C1With a Vow to Rescue, the Journey Begins
C2Useful for Cleaning Messy Baggage, Elemental Powers Are Indeed
C3The Caravan Exits the Mountain Pass, the Scenery Once More Changed
C4Looking Back Following the Wind, One's Shadow Still Halved
C5100 Defeats? No Problem, Tomorrow, We Go Again
C6And That's the Story! Share It With Your Friends!

Overview

Prune's C1, C2, and C6 are both very strong. Her C1 significantly eases her Energy Requirements, while C2 and C6 are strong team DPS Constellations.

Constellation Details

C1: Prune can be quite Energy hungry, and this helps significantly with her Energy requirements. Her build requirements get immensely strict without this Constellation.

C2: This personal ATK increase translates to Prune buffing the team more on top of improving her damage, so it ends up being quite strong. 5-10% of a team DPS increase.

C3: More personal damage, it’s fine. Nearly negligible.

C4: An extra proc of damage. It’s fine.

C5: It’s fine. All 3 above combine together to form a team DPS upgrade of single-digit percentage.

C6: Significantly improves her buffing on top of giving her more personal damage. Giving the on-fielder 350 ATK translates to a team DPS upgrade of at least 6% usually. On top of that, the personal ATK increase translates to a higher DMG% buff for her team.

How to Play

Overview

Prune’s buffs are accessed primarily through her Elemental Burst. These buffs come in the form of a teamwide DMG% buff that applies to Normal Attacks, Charged Attacks, Plunging Attacks, Skills and Bursts – notably, it won’t apply to type-less damage like Nicole’s Burst's Projections. She can also buff the active character’s ATK, but only if they are able to trigger a Swirl. The ATK buff in her Constellation 6 does not have such a requirement, which has a requireent of triggering any Elemental Reaction. This makes her far more effective at buffing Anemo characters.

Elemental Skill

Prune’s Elemental Skill has a 15 second cooldown and will generate 5 Anemo Elemental Particles on-hit alongside some ATK scaling damage. If this hit triggers a Swirl Reaction, Prune gets an Enhanced Skill that will deal damage of the Element that she Swirled – if it was a Pyro Swirl, it will deal Pyro DMG. This second hit – called a Banehunter Oathhammer – won’t generate Elemental Particles and will trigger her A4 buff. She is able to do this through other ways, so this is generally not the best option due to the rotation extension it forces.

Elemental Burst

Prune’s Elemental Burst has a cooldown of 18 seconds and an Energy cost of 70, which is relatively steep considering the makeup of her teams. On cast, it will deal a little bit of damage and summon a “Witchlure Bell”, which will attack enemies around the active character periodically. This effect has a duration of 12 seconds.

When the Witchlure Bell hits an opponent and triggers a Swirl Reaction, Prune will also summon a Banehunter Oathwhammer through her Ascension 1 passive. This is the same as her Enhanced Skill, and will trigger her Ascension 4 buff. Because her Burst hits have to trigger Swirl, Prune requires semi-consistent application of Swirlable Elements (Pyro, Hydro, Electro, Cryo).

Passives & Hexerei Buffs

Prune’s Ascension 4 will give a buff lasting 5 seconds, refreshed on the conditions explained above. Prune will give all teammates DMG Bonus based on her attack. For every point of ATK above 2000, Prune will give a bit of DMG Bonus. The maximum buff Prune can give is 50%, which is reached at 4000 ATK and scales linearly at 0.025% per 1 ATK. Reaching 4000 ATK on her is very difficult and not required, but having above 2000 is required. Aim for at least 3000. Nicole’s teamwide ATK buff makes this much easier.

When the Hexerei: Secret Rite effect is active, so when there are at least 2 Hexerei characters in the team, Prune gains an extra buffing vector: if a Hexerei character in the party (including herself) triggers a Reaction, Prune’s ATK is increased by 60% for 5 seconds. If that Reaction was a Swirl, the ATK of the character that triggered it will be increased by 30%. This means Prune will give herself 90 ATK% on Swirl, and do the same to Venti and Varka.

Additional Info

Skill and Burst timing

Because her Burst’s first hit generally comes at a slight delay, it is recommended Prune use her Burst before her Elemental Skill. If she doesn’t do this, she might need to use her Enhanced Skill in order to immediately give the team her A4 buff. This will increase Prune’s ER requirements and will be difficult to perform without C1, but it is generally doable with a decent build, especially if she’s using Favonius Codex.

Release Date

Prune was officially released as a playable character in Genshin Impact on May 20, 2026, during the Luna VII update.
