Character Profile

Klee is an on-field Pyro DPS and part of the Hexerei archetype. After a long tenure of not being particularly good, her Hexerei buffs have made her a fairly decent Pyro carry. They’ve also made her significantly easier to play; pre-buff Klee was notorious for having significant optimization that made her gameplay quite clunky and unwieldy, which her buffs have mostly removed. She can be Burst reliant and require specific strong supports to become good, but at least she is able to. Klee is one of the fastest Pyro applicators in the game, making it difficult for her to be the one to trigger Elemental Reactions consistently. This can lock Klee out of making proper use of many of the best supports for Pyro characters, such as Citlali.

Klee can also acquire her C1 for entirely free through the ‘Temper Thyself and Journey Far’ event, which awards a free Constellation of your choosing from a predetermined pool of characters as a reward for consistent log-ins. Her C1 is quite decent, and further allows her to stay afloat in the very competitive field of on-field Pyro carries. Even with that C1 she is not as good as the top carries, but she can usually hold her own.

Best Teams

Hexerei Carry

Overload: Klee + 3 of:

Nicole / Durin / Fischl / Chevreuse

Other options:

Mona / Albedo / Emilie / Prune

Klee will always require at least 1 more Hexerei teammate in order to activate her buffs.

  • Nicole: The Hexerei Witch is the strongest support for any Hexerei on-fielder, and Klee is no exception. Through her ATK buff and Celestial Gift set, she buffs Klee more than any other support; her shield is also quite valuable for Klee, who is generally vulnerable to interruption.
  • Durin: Klee’s second best Hexerei option after Nicole, occasionally just as good as her. You can also use both of them together in a few different teams. Durin’s RES Shred can be quite useful in a team with Albedo or Emilie, and is what allows non-Chevreuse teams for Klee to be good.
  • Fischl: Another excellent Hexerei option. 45 ATK% is a sizable buff, and Fischl is a consistent Electro Application source for Chevreuse teams. Her personal damage is not particularly great though.
  • Chevreuse: One of the strongest units for any Overload team, especially at C6. She is replaceable with Nicole or Durin prior to C6 though. The Energy Chevreuse provides is very useful for Klee, who needs to use her Burst to access most of her buffs
  • Mona: Mona’s Hydro Application is too low both in duration and frequency to let Klee Vape any sizable portion of her damage. Despite that, the DMG% buffs she provides will last through Klee’s entire duration and her cooldowns are quite short, making her a decent fit for Klee teams. Prior to her C4, she’s not a high priority slot for Klee, but with it she becomes fairly good.
  • Albedo: A decent Sub-DPS option that provides some buffing for Hexerei characters. Not quite as good at it as Durin, but he’s far from bad.
  • Prune: Particularly good at C6, but also usable at lower Constellation. Parts of her buffs are locked behind Swirl, which Klee can’t do, limiting her buffing. She is nonetheless usable, but likely not the strongest compared to other support slots.
  • Emilie: Very strong as a Sub-DPS for non-Overload Klee comps. Synergizes greatly with both Nicole and Durin, although she is unable to gain the boons of Celestial Gift in Klee teams.

Best Weapons

Limited 5 star options:

Klee does not have a true BiS signature weapon. There are several 5* weapons she can make decent use of, but none fit her perfectly. Notable such weapons include:

  • Reliquary of Truth
  • Tulaytullah's Remembrance
  • Cashflow Supervision
  • Memory of Dust

Standard 5 star option: Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds

One of the two Standard Banner 5* Catalysts, ostensibly the better one on Klee by a bit. Fairly close to a lot of the limited 5* Catalysts available.

Best 4 star: The Widsith

The best 4* option available to Klee. She can make use of ⅔ of the passives and gets decent uptime, as her field time tends to not be that long.

Event option: Dodoco Tales

Event reward for the first Golden Apple Archipelago and sort of her signature weapon; it is a 4 star though, and not particularly great. Widsith is often better.

Best free option: Flowing Purity

The Fontaine Craftable Catalyst is her best free option by far, though it requires a healer for the full passive. Best alongside Chevreuse.

Best Artifacts & Stats

BiS Option: A Day Carved From Rising Winds

Klee’s best artifact set by a very significant degree, and the first strong 4 piece she can make full use of. She is a Hexerei character and thus gets the full effect. Little else to say, it’s very strong and very worth farming for if you plan on playing Klee.

2p2p combos: Not bad, but mostly to hold you over until you have a Day Carved 4 piece set.

Talent Priority

  1. Normal Attack
  2. Elemental Burst
  3. Elemental Skill

Constellations

C1Chained Reactions
C2Explosive Frags
C3Exquisite Compound
C4Sparkly Explosion
C5Nova Burst
C6Blazing Delight

C1: Solid Constellation that gives her a little extra Talent damage and a ton of extra ATK%. This does dilute the value of Nicole in her teams, but not by that much. As mentioned, this is free to acquire through the current ‘Temper Thyself and Journey Far’ event, and should be considered to be available to her unless upcoming rotations remove her from the character pool. Comes out to an approximately 15% personal DPS increase, which is usually about 8-12% team DPS.

C2: A great Constellation for team DPS, and used to be Klee’s lynchpin of viability prior to her Hexerei buffs. 23% DEF Ignore translates to a roughly 13% damage increase, and it is entirely teamwide, permanent, and easy to access.

C3: Skill levels don’t do a whole lot for Klee’s damage. Most of her damage is in her Normal Attack talent. Negligible.

C4: Quite a bit of extra Talent value. Incentivizes Klee to always run her Burst duration out fully, which is something she can do without too much fuss usually. Does about as much damage as 2 Boom-Boom Strikes.

C5: Just like C3, Klee’s Burst contains very little of her damage. Generally negligible.

C6: The extra DMG% is decent, but the chaotic amount of Boom-Boom Strikes Klee is now able to get comes out to a pretty substantial increase. Difficult to quantify, but will generally net Klee about 4 additional Boom-Boom Strikes.
