Character Profile

Fischl is an 4* Electro off-field Support with some personal damage and potentially high Electro application, all of which she accomplishes through her imaginary friend and turret summon, Oz. Fischl has historically been a great unit, and although she had started to fallen off with recent releases outcompeting her in several niches, her Hexerei buffs have restored her to the spotlight. Fischl is particularly good with Overload alongside Nicole or Durin, but she’s also able to slot into a couple other teams with Electro-Charged alongside Mona or Sucrose. Those archetypes are where her buffs can be activated in, but as the only requirement is the corresponding Reaction being triggered, she has decent flexibility.

Fischl can have a tough time with Energy Recharge in Stygian Onslaught, especially without her C6. Having always been an important Constellation for her, it's now vital to her performance. Her buffing straight up doubles with her C6, making her quite reliant on it. Additionally, it can be difficult to use her without another strong Hexerei unit, with her having very limited use without the Hexerei: Secret Rite effect active.

Energy Recharge Requirements: 100 - 200%

Fischl will almost always want to use her Burst on every other rotation. If she is the only Electro unit in the team, the requirements for that can be quite high. She has lower ER requirements than most owing to her great particle generation, but they can still be pretty steep. This is particularly true in Stygian Onslaught, where Fischl might have to build even more ER sometimes.

Best Teams

Overload

Fischl is typically the best Electro off-field option for Overload teams. This is thanks to how powerful Nicole and Durin can be, and the relatively few options available alongside a Hexerei core. Such Overload teams will generally have a defined structure:

[Pyro or Electro on-field DPS] - Fischl - 2 of Nicole / Durin / Chevreuse. The best users of this structure include Arlecchino, Varesa, Clorinde, Klee and more. Other relevant carries in the archetype that she can be useful for include Lyney, Chasca and Raiden Shogun.

Example Rotation:

  1. Arlecchino Skill All Is Ash
  2. Nicole Skill Revelation: Uncreated Light ( + Burst Revelation: Ladder of Divine Ascent if necessary )
  3. Fischl Skill or Burst
  4. Chevreuse Hold Skill ( + Burst with Noblesse Oblige )
  5. Arlecchino on-field combo

Lunar Teams

Flins - Columbina - Fischl - Durin

Fischl is typically the best alternative to Ineffa in terms of DPS if you don’t happen to have her. Considerably worse than her, but Sucrose / Durin both activate her Hexerei buffs. Celestial Gift is unfortunately not very useful here. Worth noting that with Durin, both her ATK% and EM buffs will be triggered consistently.

Nefer - Columbina - Fischl - Sucrose

Tends to be one Nefer's best team without Lauma. Columbina enables Lunar-Charged for some extra damage, and Fischl's EM buff is very strong for Nefer.

Other teams that she’s an okay option in:

Varka - Prune - Fischl - Iansan

Fischl is the only unit that can make this team viable. Her Hexerei buffs don’t activate here, but Celestial Gift is pretty good. Can work against certain Electro-focused content, but is otherwise not a great Varka team. Similarly, Fischl can be an alright alternative for Venti carry teams if missing any of his better supports. Never the best, but she can do the job.

Hyperbloom

She can work in various Hyperbloom teams, fallen out of favor as they have. The EM buff from Hexerei can be good if it’s activated. Other assorted Dendro teams can similarly benefit, but they will usually not be very good.

Best Weapons

Best Personal Damage Option: The Daybreak Chronicles

Venti’s new signature is technically a little better than other 5 star bows. She maintains full uptime on the 60 Skill DMG%, and the statline is quite favorable for her. Bows like Polar Star, Aqua Simulacra and The First Great Magic are not very far from this weapon, and it's certainly not worth pulling just for Fischl.

Best Support and Energy Option: Elegy for the End

Typically her best Energy Recharge option. She’s competent at triggering the passive effect, but not excellent, and there will be a few rotations in which she can’t proc it due to its cooldown.

Standard 5 star option: Skyward Harp

Often equal to or slightly worse than most Limited 5 star Bows.

Best 4 star damage options:

Alley Hunter

Great once the passive stacks, which can take a while to do in a setting like Stygian Onslaught. Still, a strong weapon for her.

The Stringless

Easily accessible and very good in teams where she procs any Reactions, including Overload teams.

Best 4 star Energy option: Favonius Warbow

The best choice for ER if you don’t have Elegy, and even better sometimes depending on the Energy situation. Particularly useful in Stygian Onslaught, as not having enough ER to burst on the 2nd rotation can happen easily, and can lead to Fischl not being able to use Oz for a rotation.

Best Artifacts & Stats

Damage Options:

Golden Troupe

Typically her best damaging option, as she makes full use of the 70 Skill DMG%. Arguably not worth farming for if you don’t already have a set due to the existence of other strong options, unless you’re also looking to farm Marechaussee Hunter. It is available in the stronghox, but so is TotM.

A Day Carved From Rising Winds:

Not very far from Golden Troupe in terms of Fischl’s personal damage. Might be worth farming for, especially if Fischl finds herself in Hexerei teams with carries that already want this set.

Support Options:

Celestial Gift

Fischl’s best buffing option if available, as long as there’s no other unit that is better at using it like Nicole or Mona. The extra ER can be very useful.

Tenacity of the Millelith

A strong support option that Fischl can maintain good uptime on. Can be worth considering if Celestial Gift is already taken, as Fischl’s personal damage isn’t as important as it used to be.

Talent Priority

  1. Elemental Skill
    >>>>
  2. Elemental Burst

Oz's damage is contained entirely in Fischl's Elemental Skill talent. Her Burst talent only scales up her initial Burst cast hit, which is not particularly good. Her Normal Attack talent is not useful.

Constellations

C1Gaze of the Deep
C2Devourer of All Sins
C3Wings of Nightmare
C4Her Pilgrimage of Bleak
C5Against the Fleeing Light
C6Evernight Raven

C1: Fischl does not want to stay on-field for very long. Not useful.

C2: A little bit of extra damage on Skill cast. It’s alright.

C3: Significant increase to her personal damage. Said personal damage tends to not be that high in most teams, so it’s overall not huge.

C4: About as good as C2 (not very), but the extra healing can be really nice in some times.

C5: Doesn’t buff Oz’s damage at all, just the Burst cast. Mostly negligible.

C6: By far Fischl’s strongest Constellation. The Oz increase itself leads to a larger personal damage increase than any other Constellation, and the extra C6 hits on teams with on-fielders that use Normal Attacks is substantial for her. Most importantly, it doubles the value of her Hexerei buffs, which is very significant. Essentially all of Fischl’s modern teams use her primarily for her buffs, and this will usually take C6 into account. Fischl isn’t unplayable without it, but she is much worse.

How to Play

Overview & Oz

All of Fischl’s mechanics revolve around summoning or maintaining her familiar Oz on the field, and she can do this through her Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst both.

Oz acts as a stationary turret that will periodically attack nearby enemies, dealing single-target Electro DMG once per second. Fischl’s baseline Electro Application through just these periodic attacks is quite bad, only applying Electro once every 5 hits. Said Electro ICD is shared with her C6’s additional attacks, making it potentially quite a bit faster.

Oz has a ⅔ chance to generate 1 Electro Particle when he hits an enemy, making Fischl a very good source of Energy, particularly with her C6.

Fischl has a few outdated passives relating to her Normal and Charged Attacks. These should largely be ignored, as she is not an effective on-fielder.

Elemental Skill

Fischl’s Elemental Skill will summon Oz at the target position and deal a little bit of AoE Electro damage around the location of the cast. Fischl’s Skill has a very long cooldown of 25 seconds, making it necessary for her to use her Burst to summon Oz at least every other rotation.

Elemental Burst

Fischl’s Elemental Burst will transform her into Oz for a short time that you can cancel out of it. She will deal a bit of damage to enemies around her, and once the transformation is over, will summon Oz where she was previously standing. This Burst has a cooldown of 15 seconds and a cost of 60 Energy. While relatively low, Fischl will often be the only Electro in the team making it necessary to build a little bit of Energy Recharge. With Electro Resonance active, this issue is significantly reduced.

Passives & Hexerei Buffs

Fischl’s Ascension 1 passive is irrelevant, and she should never use it.

Fischl’s Ascension 4 passive will trigger an additional hit of Electro DMG when the currently active character triggers an Electro-related Elemental Reaction while Oz is on the field. This hit is quite small but has no ICD, applying Electro every time it hits. It does have a cooldown of 0.5 seconds for how often it can happen, which is still very often. Electro Reactions triggered by off-field teammates will not trigger this effect.

When the Hexerei: Secret Rite effect is active and Fischl has completed her Witch’s Homework quest, Fischl will gain an additional effect:

  • If the team triggers an Overload reaction, the active character and Fischl will gain 22.5% ATK for 10 seconds. This duration refreshes if Overload is triggered again within those 10 seconds, and the ATK buff transfers between characters switching in and out.
  • If the team triggers an Electro-Charged or Lunar-Charged reaction, the active character and Fischl will gain 90 EM. If Fischl has unlocked her C6, these effects are doubled to be 45 ATK% and 180 EM. These effects can stack if the team is able to trigger both Reactions.

Additional Info

'Snapshotting' & Oz

It is worth noting that because Fischl ‘snapshots’ her buffs at the time of casting Oz, Oz’s damage and Reactions will be determined by Fischl’s stats at the time of his summoning. Because of this, she will often not receive her own buffs unless she re-summons Oz after the buffs have been triggered. Fischl can re-cast Oz by using her Elemental Skill while he is active, which is often not worth it bc of the time wasted. She is also able to refresh Oz’s duration by using her Burst while Oz is already on the field.

Release Date

Fischl was officially released as a playable 4-star Electro character in Genshin Impact on September 28, 2020, during the Version 1.0 update.
