Intro

This build for Guardian revolves around using Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear or, alternatively, any other Great Spear or regular Spear with a Greatshield.

While wielding a Greatshield and a Great Spear or a regular Spear, you can guard and poke at the same time, leaving you very durable even while dealing damage.

If you’re not able to find Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear, alternative options could be Lance with Blood infusion, Vyke's War Spear, or any other spear with Bleed buildup.

Game Plan and Pathing

Day 1

On Day 1, you should immediately kill small enemies around where you spawn to reach at least level 3.

After that, head to the nearest Blood Loss and Fire settlement since these damage types are gonna be the places you have the chance of acquiring Mohgwyn's Sacred Spear.

Since it is a Fire and Blood Loss weapon, loot every chest, and kill every enemy in hopes of finding the ideal weapon and additional weapons with any of the listed passive effects attached to them.

As always, look for churches and plan your route around them; always pass as many churches as possible since it’s the only source of healing upgrades.

Day 2

On Day 2, head back to the Blood Loss and Fire Settlements to look for upgrades for your weapon and start looking for World Bosses such as Carian Knights and Dragons, such as Ancient Dragon, these will have a high chance of dropping powerful character passives, called Dormant Powers.

Like Day 1, continue looking for churches and plan your route around them.

Day 3

Day 3, immediately check the merchant’s inventory, see if he has anything worth buying over leveling up, such as weapon upgrades (Smithing Stones) or use leftover runes for Greases to increase your damage output for the final boss fight.

Additional Tips

  • To get the most out of this build, you should be using Guard Counters as often as possible. You perform a Guard Counter by blocking an attack and then immediately pressing your heavy attack button.
  • If you’re fighting a fast enemy that doesn’t give you a big enough timeframe to guard counter, you can just hold up your Greatshield and still use your weapon’s thrust attacks while still protecting yourself.
