Nightreign Build

Blood Loss Duchess Build (Playtest)

Updated on May 14, 2025

Intro

This build revolves around proccing blood and reapplying the damage of the status effect with the use of Duchess’s ability “Restage” as often as possible, resulting in an easy-to-use, very high damage build.

All of the Blood Loss options can be replaced or comboed with Frostbite for a similar or even better effect.

You can have a set of Blood Loss weapons, such as Reduvia and a set of Frostbite weapons, such as Frozen Needle to alternate between, since proccing a status effect increases the target’s resistance to said status effect, you can, after 2 to 3 Blood Loss procs, swap to Frostbite to avoid using something you’ve made a boss resistant to.

Game Plan and Pathing

Day 1

On Day 1, you should immediately kill small enemies around where you spawn to reach at least level 3.

After that, head to the nearest Blood Loss or Frostbite settlement, loot every chest, and kill every enemy in hopes of finding the ideal set of weapons for your preference with said status effect.

If you’re unable to find 2 weapons of the same type of said status effect, just try to find 2 of the matching weapon class.

For example, you can still dual-wield using a Scimitar in one hand and a Scavenger's Curved Sword in the other. As always, look for churches and plan your route around them; always pass as many churches as possible since it’s the only source of healing upgrades.

Pick up any weapon with a beneficial passive skill for your additional weapon slots, even if you’re not going to be wielding it.

Day 2

On Day 2, head back to the Blood Loss or Frostbite Settlement and look for potential upgrades of your weapons or perhaps even a Legendary of that damage type. As always, look for churches and plan your route around them; always pass as many churches as possible since it’s the only source of healing upgrades.

Day 3

Day 3, immediately check the merchant’s inventory, see if he has anything worth buying over leveling up, such as weapon upgrades (Smithing Stones).

Additional Tips

  • The Talismans listed above are great because they boost damage when bleed effects trigger and help your stamina recover faster. This means you can attack more often and deal more damage over time.
  • If you haven’t been lucky enough to get two Blood Scavenger's Curved Sword (since it depends on random drops), you can use a Frostbite-based weapon instead — it’s still very effective.
  • For your extra weapon slots, try to equip as many weapons with the Improved Chain Attack Finishers (+20%) passive as possible. If you don’t have those, just use anything that gives you a helpful bonus — just make sure not to leave these slots empty!
  • If you don’t have the best-in-slot (BiS) weapon yet, Rivers Of Blood or any curved sword that causes Blood Loss are great alternatives.
  • Blood Grease and Freezing Grease can in Elden Ring Nightreign even go on weapons with status effects, and both just increase your overall damage output, so pick them up and keep them for big fights if you come across them.
