Build Overview

This Jaguar Endgame Build focuses on optimising the Poison Damage from the Balazan's Maxtlatl whilst staying tanky enough to beat all end game content.

Check the How It Works Section below to learn how the Rake + Balazan's Maxtlatl Spiritborn decimates all Endgame Content

If you've just started your character check out these LEVELLING GUIDES which will help you get from Level 1 - 60 and head to the TIER LIST for all other available endgame builds.

I'l be live streaming most evenings (GMT) on Twitch, YouTube, Kick or X. This is a great time to come ask me questions directly!

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Poison Thorns Build
  • Good Clearance
  • Easy Playstyle
  • Gear Dependant
  • Off-Meta Build
  • Average Mobility

Build Variants

This variant is designed to get you started towards getting to T4 Content straight from Levelling.

For this build to function it is Mandatory to have the Aspect of Wild Claws but there the Damage Roll does not matter here.

You will ideally have a Balazan's Maxtlatl by this point which makes the build functional.

This build is also elevated by the Xan because this allows your Thorns Damage to be affected by Critical Damage and Overpower Damage modifiers.

Everything else is Optional but very nice to have.

If you have everything this requires be sure to check out the T3 Variant for Next Steps.

    How it Plays

The main focus here is to apply attacks as Fast as Possible so that the Aspect of Wild Claws will activate causing all Rake Instances to Hit Twice and as a result apply more Balazan's Maxtlatl Thorns / Poison Damage.

We unlock Critical Damage and Overpower Damage through the user of the Xan Rune which is currently the only way for Thorns Damage to gain access to these Multipliers. This in turn scales the Balazan's Maxtlatl Poison Damage even further.

The Shattered Vow has a huge amount of Damage Over Time Scaling on it in Season 11 so this also plays very nicely with the Balazan's Maxtlatl Poison Damage.

The following steps are the recommended Build Rotation for skill usage:

    • Cast Ravager to grant additional Jaguar Attacks.
    • Cast Armored Hide for 100% Block Chance.
    • Cast Counterattack for 100% Dodge Chance.
    • Cast The Protector for Barrier Generation, Unstoppable and Immense Damage Output.
    • Cast Rake liberally around the other skills.

    Repeat each step as necessary

    How it Works

    Build Overview

This Rake Spiritborn focuses on optimising the Thorns / Poison Damage from the Balazan's Maxtlatl in combination with the Aspect of Wild Claws whilst staying tanky enough to beat all End Game Content. It does this through the following:

    • The Balazan's Maxtlatl enables the Thorns / Poison Damage to be applied on Close Attacks.
    • Doubles Each Instance of Rake with the Aspect of Wild Claws.
    • Doubling down on the Gorilla Spirit Halls via the Loyalty's Mantle.
    • Counterattack for 100% Dodge Chance in combat.
    • 100% Block Chance using Armored Hide.
    • Toxic Skin passively awarding 100%[x] Thorns Damage.
    • The Protector for incredible Utility.
    • Maxing Attack Speed through Aspects, Equipment, Paragon and Ferocity.
    • Barrier for extreme tankiness.

Check out the In-Depth Explanations below for further details on the build.

    Extra Details

This build went to Pit 85+ in the Season 11 PTR. This was achieved at Paragon Level 200 - 220 with Decent Equipment, Maxed Glyphs and Zero Sanctifications.

We have been told the Pit Scaling will be reduced when Season 11 drops and that All Builds will go about 5 - 10 Pit Levels higher so this build should get to Pit 95+ easily enough.

With the correct gear this build should easily beat all the Hardest Content In The Game without issue.

    FAQ

If you have any questions about this guide feel free to reach out to me whilst live on Twitch, YouTube, Kick or X or contact me offline via my Discord.

How do I make my Thorns Critical Strike and Overpower?

The only way that is available to allow your Thorns Damage to Critical Strike or Overpower right now is by using a Xan Rune which combined with the Ahu Rune will cause our Thorns Damage being applied from the Balazan's Maxtlatl to have have a near 100% Uptime of having access to Critical Damage and Overpower Damage.

Why Does The Critical Damage And Overpower Damage Matter?

Having access to the Critical Damage and Overpower Damage multipliers that the Xan grants us allows for an enormous Damage Boost to the Thorns Damage being applied from the Balazan's Maxtlatl which is important because this occurs Before it is converted into Poisoning Damage so it is essentially scaling the base value that our Balazan's Maxtlatl uses.

This in turn is then scaled by our Poison DoT Damage multipliers provided by the Shattered Vow and Ring of the Midday Hunt which both provide Extra Poison Damage and Damage Over Time Duration.

How Much Attack Speed Do I Need?

Aim for 100% Attack Speed on Equipment, Aspects, Paragon, Mercenaries and Elixirs.

You can only attain Attack Speed in Attack Speed Bucket 2 via Ferocity and Adaptive Stances if using a Jaguar Skill so we prioritise Ferocity where we can.

We achieve this through Casting Rake which is the Only Core Skill that allows us to Natively Generate Ferocity.

Why Do You Only Equip The Hesha E Kesungi Later On?

In the Sanctification Variant you are able to equip a Hesha e Kesungi to gain access to the Extra Damage and Pull In Utility it provides because it is possible for you to Sanctify the Aspect of Wild Claws on an Offensive Slot freeing up the Gloves Slot for this purpose.

This is extremely good for your build since it provides a lot of Damage as well as allowing us to swap tIgni + Kry for Tam + Ohm for an extra 15%[x] Damage.

Note: The requires the Aspect of Wild Claws to be Sanctified on an Offensive Slot before you can equip a Hesha e Kesungi.

    Do NOT swap before this!

Why Do You Swap Toxic Skin For Scourge?

In the Sanctification Variant you swap Toxic Skin for Scourge because we can equip aWound Drinker Sanctified with the Ring of Starless Skies Power which allows us to gain the Passive Effect of Toxic Skin without needing to have it equipped.

Scourge grants you a juicy 50%[x] Damage Against Crowd Controlled Enemies allowing you to output More Damage that before.

Note: This requires you to have the Ring of Starless Skies Power Sanctified before swapping Toxic Skin for Scourge which we believe is going to be possible.

    Do NOT swap before this!

Why Do You Equip The Melted Heart Of Selig Later On?

In the Sanctification Variant you can equip the Melted Heart of Selig for Extreme Defence synergising nicely with your already equipped Ring of the Midday Hunt.

You are able to do this because you can Sanctify one of the many Offensive Aspects mentioned in the Sanctification List above in the Equipment Section.

Note: This requires you to free up the Amulet Slot through Sanctifications before you can equip a Melted Heart of Selig and is more of a defensive option. You can wear a Legendary Amulet with an Offensive Aspect if you want more Damage.

How Much Cooldown Reduction Do You Need?

You will ideally aim for at least 40 - 50% Cooldown Reduction to help reduce the amount of Skills you have on Cooldown and to allow a 100% Uptime of Counterattack which grants you a Huge Thorns Damage Increase as well as increasing your Defence Drastically.

You can gain Cooldown Reduction through the following:

    • Glove Affix
    • Ring Affixes
    • Amulet Affix
    • Spiney Skin Paragon Board
    • Sancitifcations

It's worth nothing that your Gorilla Skills will already have up to 60% Cooldown Reduction from having a Loyalty's Mantle equipped so Armored Hide and The Protector will have Significantly Lower Cooldowns already.
