Build Overview

The Shield Charge Paladin Build Guide teaches you about Gear, Skills, Paragon, Playstyle & Seasonal Mechanics in Diablo 4 Season 15.

We use Shield Charge with Relentless Charge to make it a Core Skill and Hits Are Blocks Shield Bash to have it Block on hit. Block, when combined with 100% Retribution Chance, causes a Thorns explosion on each hit.

Core Items and Requirements

Exploiter's Aspect Transfiguration on Amulet.
Ranks to Shield Charge do not increase the Thorns damage we deal with Shield of Retribution.
Tibault's Will is required to sustain Faith.
Herald of Zakarum is needed to cap Retribution Chance.
Weapon damage does NOT affect Thorns damage.
ONLY USE Fists of Fate IF MYTHIC!
- Goes from being a 50.5% Aspect to 95.5%.

Talisman Set

Berú of Righteous Will is used to be able to use Fortress for Resolve Damage Bonus Fortress. It also synergizes with Sentinel.

Mythical Seal

If you have Seal of the Diamond Mind, you can use 2x Berú of Iron Conviction + 4x Berú of Righteous Will. This is optimal.

Berú of Iron Conviction provides Aura Potency for Rite of Vengeance and Rite of Thorns while providing all upgrades for free, including Rite of Might, which also gets buffed by Potency.

Cast Fortress for the damage buff Resolve Damage Bonus Fortress provides.
1. Also gets your Resolve up for Aspect of Glynn's Anvil.
2. Re-cast it with Barricade.
3. Makes you Unstoppable for Tibault's Will.
Use Fanaticism Aura and Defiance Aura for their buffs and to lower Cooldowns with Resplendence Glyph.
1. Very important to maintain high Fortress uptime.
2. Wait until Fortress is off-cooldown to use these.
3. Defiance Aura makes you unstoppable for Tibault's Will.
Use Aegis to get a powerful Thorns buff from Impunity.
1. Aegis grants 30% Armor, Block Damage Reduction Aegis and Block Chance to cap our Block for Aspect of Redirected Force.
Cast Clash every 6 seconds.
1. Keeps Punishment and Crusader's March up.
Cast and hold Shield Charge.
1. When the Faith cost is too high, stop casting and cast again.
2. Will Block on hit applying your Thorns with Retribution.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I do damage?

Shield Charge changes from a Cooldown skill to a Core Skill with Relentless Charge, making it spammable. Shield Charge can block on every hit with the Hits Are Blocks Shield Bash upgrade. To do damage, we use Retribution, which applies our Thorns damage in an area on Block. We cap our Retribution Chance by using Herald of Zakarum, Aegis and ClashPunishment. We also increase it's AoE with Herald of Zakarum and Retribution. This makes Shield Charge an incredible high-damage skill that feels great to play.

Fortress is used with Resolve Damage Bonus Fortress and Maximum Resolve stacking to get over 120% damage. We maintain a high uptime with Resplendence Glyph in combination with Defiance Aura and Fanaticism Aura.

Rite of Thorns, Punishment and Impunity increase our Thorns massively. We further scale it with Aspect of Lapa's Scripture and Defiance Aura Skill Ranks + Potency from Berú of Iron Conviction 2pc.

How do we make enemies vulnerable?

With Aspect of Accursed Touch.

How do I generate resolve?

Fortress generates an insane amount per second.

There seems to be an issue with the skills in this build. Could you explain why you invested points into a skill that cannot be placed on the skill bar?

Also, it looks like the Speed Farming build does not actually use Clash. Is there a specific reason why you invested points into it?

I'm just curious about the reasoning behind it. Thank you!

Super fun playstyle, has been a great leveling build for me which was a little surprising, fell backwards into it based on what was working ---> so question, why no bristleback aspect?
