Build Overview

Fleshrender is a unique Item in Diablo4, truly unique as it allows you to deal damage with your defensive skills. It's damage scales with WILL, meaning it will buff the damage of your skills twice. Invest heavily in this build. This build is a lot of fun, as you just run around yelling.

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Most fun build in the game
  • Incredible Clear
  • Incredible Single Target
  • Great for Hordes
  • Good in Pits
  • Gear Specific, needs 10s cd Petrify
  • Hard to Play
  • Medium Mobility

Build Variants

This variant is designed to get you started towards what your ideal build is, it has lower requirements compared to the End Game Version Harlequin Crest helps reaching high level of CDR without perfect items.

Spirit Boons

Deer

  • Wariness to be tankier. Prickleskin is an option for more damage if Pit Pushing. Otherwise you can choose damage reduction or movements speed depending on your needs.

Eagle

  • Swooping Attacks for Attack Speed or Iron Feather is also an option to be tankier. Otherwise you can get more Critical hit chance and Lucky hit chance which is my favorite at the moment.
  • Avian Wrath for Critical Strike Damage I would never swap.

Wolf

  • Calamity to help with Cataclysm uptime.

Snake

  • Early on, we will use Calm Before the Storm to help with Petrify uptime on trash mobs.
  • Later on, we will use Overload inflict poison more consistently..

Requirements:

  • Enough cooldown reduction to make your Petrify a 10 second cooldown is needed for this build or you will not reset it's cdr for bosses due to Supreme Petrify.

Harlequin Crest is not mandatory, but without it it's difficult to obtain a Petrify with 10s CDR. When you gear is really good you can play with Gathlen's Birthright for more damage.

Rakanoth's Wake can be swapped for the new unique Khamsin Steppewalkers that has 37.5% CDR for Nature Magic Skills (with GA).

Runes

We are lucky that Zan+ Qax combo still works for our build since the downside of losing all our resources is negated because we do not really spend resources on anything else.

Yul + Xan is a great combo since we produce a lot of energy with the use of our Ultimate Petrify. Meaning we get an insane proc rate for Xan and increasing our damage with the guaranteed crit and overpowered attack.

Divine Gifts

Andariel:

Essence of Screams is very helpful with it's 20% resistances bonus, if you find yourself overcapped in resitances you can always opt out of this Divine perk for Essence of Anguish and gain some extra Movement speed which is never bad. Be careful not to overcap your Mov Speed, the maximum bonus you can have is +100% total.

Azmodan:

Essence of Sin is the only viable choice; an extra 20% armor makes it a lot easier to cap your armour and build a more offensive character.

Belial:

Essence of Lies is the stronger buff with it's 1% Fortify per second, but if you find yourself in trouble with crowd control you can always switch to Essence of Shadows

Duriel:

Essence of Pain is pretty useless in my opinion, having a barrier when already on low life isn't going to save your life very often. For that reason, I decided to take Essence of Squalor, which can be helpful for long fights like T4 Bosses or high pits/Towers.

Mercenary

Mercernaries

Use Raheir if you need to cap your resistances or Armour, otherwise:

We use Subo with Wire Trap for Movement Speed and Cover Fire for Critical Strike Damage. In addition, Subo provides us with the invaluable ability to see Elites on our Minimap.

Our secondary Mercenary is Raheir with Crater to pull in.

How it Plays

  • 1. Cast Wind Shear to proc Constricting Tendrils (Paragon Node) and poison enemies.
  • 2. Cast Cyclone Armor and then all your other defensive skills, you need at least 1 enemy to be poisoned.
  • 3. Use Petrify to pull your enemies and reset the cooldown of your abilities.

How it Works

This build requires a lot of CDR, so that your Petrify is below 10 seconds of cooldown, allowing the skill to reset instantly on bosses with Supreme Petrify. You can also reduce the CDR with Supreme Petrify by klilling any enemy, including white enemies.

Cataclysm will proc due to your Keystone passive and should be giving you Vulnerability while wearing Shroud of False Death, I understand this is not ideal but this is a very gimmicky and cool build that works with combos and has some Item Requirements.

The Poison comes from Constricting Tendrils, which is one of your Paragon Nodes. The alternative is to use Virulent Aspect and Rabies.

Leveling

It is not really possible to level with Fleshrender, I suggest playing with this leveling Shred leveling build

Masterworking and Greater Affixes Explained

Masterworking

  • Since Season 11 Masterworking no longer increases your item’s affix values. Instead, it improves the Quality of an item, which gives a bonus to the base damage, armor, or resistance of an item.
  • Items can be Masterworked to a maximum Quality threshold of 20. Each time you Masterwork the item, it adds a random amount of Quality to the item (from 2-5 levels). Once at maximum Quality, you can roll it one last time for a Capstone bonus.
  • This Capstone bonus upgrades a random non-greater affix on your item into a Greater Affix. You can then choose to re-roll the Masterworked Greater Affix, without resetting your Masterworking Quality. Re-rolling the current Masterworked Affix will cost Obducite and Neathiron.

Greater Affixes

Greater Affixes (GA) on an item force the affix to roll at the top of it's range of possible values and then applies a 50% increase to its value. GA increases are additive with Masterworking increases.

In this planner, the yellow star to the left of an affix denotes that is a GA.

Masterworking and Greater Affix Priority

Unless a certain amount of a stat is required and no more, like in the case of Attack Speed Breakpoints, Armor and Resistances, the Capstone Bonus is not necessary.

Guides, which follow a Starter -> Midgame -> Endgame progression, are structured such that the difficulty of the MWing outcome and amount of GAs on items also progresses as expected.

For example, a Starter variant will generally have 1GA items. A Midgame variant will generally have 2GA items. An Endgame variant will generally have 2GA/3GA items with a perfect Capstone Bonus.

From this you can derive that the GA on the starter version is the most important, the second GA added is the second most important and the third GA added is the third most important affix.

When GA and Capstone don't align you are most likely in the presence of a stat with a certain threshold you have to meet or a cap and those will be explicitly stated in the guide anyways.

In the case of Uniques GA and Capstone, progression standards are generally shifted by one as they are easier to MW because they have 4 affixes and also easier to acquire with multiple GAs.

Elixirs and Incenses

It's important to run Elixirs and Incenses at all times. Not only because they increase your Experience gain, but also because they provide very strong combat boosts.

For Elixirs, you will use Elixir of Advantage for Attack Speed, or Elixir of Fortitude for more Maximum Life.

For Incenses, you will use Spiral Morning for All Stats, Reddamine Buzz for Maximum Life and Soothing Spices for All Resistances and more Armor.
