Build Overview

Mobbing 5/5

Bossing 4/5

Loot Acquisition Difficulty 3/5

This build is an ordnance focused build with Amon that can be easily set up for mobbing, but requires some varied looting for bossing. Luckily, with how strong purple ordnance is in BL4, you can easily farm drill sites for the ordnance you want to boss with.

You can boss very well with it when you have the right ordnance for the job, but it won't be a one shot kill. Expect kills on vault monsters to be hovering around 5-10 second kill times. The attached video is also missing an optimal class mod as none of the passives are supporting us when we are element matching. This means your damage can noticeably improve if you find desired passives such as ordnance damage, gun damage, etc.

Strengths And Weaknesses

  • Very Approachable
  • Mobbing
  • Requires a world drop class mod
  • Bossing requires more farmed out ordnance

Build Variants

Skill Tree

LMB Allocate
RMB Unallocate
Onslaughter

We use Onslaughter as our action skill because it gives us bonus incendiary damage without the need to setup

Your class mod can give you points in (Blue Tree) Scorched Kairos, Primal Surge, Ballistic Bulwark, and (Green Tree) Endless Bombardment. All of these skills are important and strengthen the build, but at least one point in Ballistic Bulwark is essential for overshield uptime which leads to other synergies in equipment like Watts 4 Dinner and helps with overall survivability and uptime on (Blue Tree) Battleborn.

Class Mod-

Class mod MUST be a Cyborg class mod since it can roll with points in (Blue Tree) Scorched Kairos, Primal Surge, Ballistic Bulwark, and (Green Tree) Endless Bombardment. Preferred passives include ordnance damage, splash damage, gun damage, gun fire rate, or whatever else may suit your build if you want to match elements for example.

Shield-

Watts 4 Dinner is your go-to mobbing shield and is even useful for more streamlined bossing as it requires no setup to proc. The +25% shock damage is actually bonus damage, which means it will always contribute to your damage, not just when you're using shock weapons. If you don't want to farm Origo for one of these, then a Firewerks from Splashzone will suffice, as it is an excellent mobbing shield.

Enhancement-

Since manufacturer bonuses on enhancements don't get applied to ordnance, you are just looking for suitable passives, which also makes farming one out easier. The strongest enhancement passive in the game is gun damage because it counts as a multiplicative value when on your enhancement ONLY! Other suitable passives would be gun fire rate, gun crit damage, and gun splash damage.

Repkit-

War Paint is an excellent repkit for bossing, but most ordnance will be stowed and put on cooldown whenever you use a repkit, so having a bossing repkit is kind of the only option. If you really want to look for a repkit to use while mobbing, you can use the AF1000 because its effects will last longer. Look for passives that benefit whatever weapon you're using. This will usually be splash damage or fire rate.

Ordnance-

Disc Jockey is easy to farm out and drops from Sidney Pointylegs in Fadefields, Hungering Plain, Drill Site. The discs will target enemies on ricochet, which makes this weapon one of, if not the best, mobbing weapons in the game. You can shoot the floor and it will seek enemies. It benefits from splash damage too, so almost any ordnance focused passives work well with this weapon as well. It can even be used for bossing sometimes as some larger bosses like The Timekeeper will end up ricocheting into itself and never hit the floor in-between bounces.

Deadeye provides 100% crit damage when at full stacks and in most cases it will be. We have 15% from Blackout and an extra 5% from Fragmentation Payload. This can also be increases by any passives you roll on your class mod that improve crit chance. While this isn't always the safest option because you are hedging your bets on landing crits with ordnance, it has a huge pay-off when it gets to full stacks. You will be hitting crits often with Disc Jockey.

High Caliber's 2 piece bonus is actually a seperate multiplicative value since it is on-shot, not on-hit like with most other sources of gun damage, which makes it a lot stronger than it appears on the card, and will beat out the additive bonus from Gadget Ahoy's 20% ordnance damage increase.

Specialization

Specialization 1The Best Defense
Specialization 2Full Spectrum Arsenal
Specialization 3Fragmentation Payload
Specialization 4Riddle You This

Riddle You This is just a 50% gun damage increases, so easily finds itself contributing heavily in most builds.

The Best Defense will always be giving you the full 30% if you're using Watts 4 Dinner.

Full Spectrum Arsenal is just increasing ordnance damage even further through gun damage bonuses which are already feeding themselves into the damage of heavy ordnance.

Fragmentation Payload brings us to 20% crit when paired with Blackout and can go even higher with class mod passives. Not to mention 50% increased crit damage with ordnance is a high amount as well.

Gameplay

Mobbing-

Just run around and shoot at things, you don't even need to land your shots as the ricochets will home in on targets. Just watch that you have plenty of ammo before spraying, as it can be a common occurence to either shoot to many projectiles at a group of enemies and find that you can't regen any ammo by hitting them because they are already dead. You may also run out of ammo if you shoot too many shots at enemies that are far away, as the Disc Jockey has a slow projectile speed. So just keep an eye on your ammo to make sure Primal Surge and Endless Bombardment are keeping your ammo up.

Bossing-

Whenever you start a fight, make sure to have Protean Cell, Onslaughter, and your repkit procced before doing damage. Most of the time you can get all 3 of these off either on the way into the arena, or during the bosses wake up. If you are opting to use Bellows, then make sure to work your forgeskill in at the end of your damage prep because it has the shortest duration.

Notes

At the time of writing, Blackout is not recieving the full benefit of the shock damage and will only provide its level 1 benefit of 21% even at level 5. Once this gets fixed the build will be significantly stronger than it is now.
