Overview

WARNING: This guide contains spoilers for the story of Borderlands 4

Callis, the Ripper Queen is the final boss of Carcadia Burn and one of the three Timekeeper's lieutenant's encountered by the player.

Enlightened (or maddened) by a vision of divine ascension, Callis ripped out The Timekeeper's bolt used to control her to declare independence from the despot of Kairos. She enhanced her body with cybernetics and created her own army, the Rippers, which clashed with a local faction called The Electi. Lead by Levaine and aided by Zane, the Vault Hunter must bring down Callis to retrieve her Bolt and save Carcadia Burn.

Location

Callis, the Ripper Queen is located in the Moon-Called Throne in Carcadia Burn. Progress through the main story line in Carcadia Burn until you get "Her Flaming Vision".

How to Beat

Callis, the Ripper Queen is a 2 phase boss fight. Despite a unique transitionary period, both phases are very similar.

FIGHT TLDR

  • Avoid circles on the ground
  • Dodge melee attacks
  • Stay at range as much as you can
  • Kill adds during transition period
  • Repeat

Phase 1

Danger Orbs

What Happens: Orbs litter the boss arena throughout the fight. Standing on them triggers an explosion, damaging the player.

What to do: Be careful backpedalling, always watch your feet. The orbs can be shot at and destroyed.

The orb is the hovering thing. Plenty will spawn throughout the fight.

Molten Wave

What Happens: Waves of fire flow from Callis' position out to the edge of the arena. After a short delay, the waves return. Both instances deal heavy damage.

What to do: The waves are slow and easy to avoid. If in doubt, jump! Watch behind you for the return wave.

Standing in between waves is safe but be wary of their return.

Spinning Charge

What Happens: Callis turns in to a vertical disc and charges the player, dealing damage.

What to do: Dash to the side as Callis is about to connect.

That at the top is Callis. Side dash when she's about to land.

Swipe

What Happens: Swipes upwards in a X shape at the player, dealing damage and knocking them back.

What to do: Only goes off if Callis is in melee range. Keep your distance and side dash if needed.

Stay far away and sidestep.

Rocket Launch

What Happens: Callis immobilises herself to fire out several rounds of rockets towards the player. These rockets deal damage and knockback in a circle on the ground.

What to do: Watch the floor and run to the empty spaces.

The circles are where the rockets will land. Avoid them!

Phase 2

Transition Period

What Happens: Callis attaches herself to a web on the wall becoming immune to damage and spawning waves of adds.

What to do: Kill the adds to force Callis down.

Callis takes to her web; avoid pillars and kill adds.

Scorpion Sting

What Happens: A mechanical stinger appears on Callis. After a brief delay, a web is fired from the stinger in a direction in front of the boss.

What to do: Callis doesn't track you with this ability so moving sideways is an easy dodge.

When you see this stance, she's charging her Stinger!

Tips & Tricks

  • Callis has two healthbars: Armor, and then Flesh. As Armor she will take extra damage from 🟢Corrosive and ☢️Radiation, and as Flesh she takes increased damage from 🔥Incendiary (up to 175% on Hard/UVH5 difficulty)
  • The Danger Orbs can be killed for Second Wind revivals
  • Callis' move pool can be somewhat telegraphed by her stance. If she's scuttering around like a bug she's looking to come melee; if she's standing more upright she will fire her rockets.
  • Most of Callis' melee attacks can be dodged simply by walking sideways.
  • There is not a continuous stream of adds in this fight making KIll Skill builds less viable. The orbs can only get you so far!
  • There are ammo crates scattered alongside the outer edge of the arena.
