5 OP Mid Laners for Patch 14.2

We’re now into the second patch of Season 14, and you should’ve had time to adapt to the new changes to the map in the mid-lane, and to the plethora of new items that we received in Patch 14.1.

In this Mobalytics guide, we will discuss 5 of the best picks you can abuse this Patch in League of Legends. If you wish to master any of these champions or learn to play anyone else in LoL, head over to the Mobalytics’ Champion Page. for more!

Don’t see your favourite champion on our list? See where we rank them on the Mobalytics Tier Mobalytics Tier List for Patch 14.2.

Vladimir

The first champion on our list is Vladimir. Vladimir is a strong laner in this patch who has shown a dominating performance on the first patch of Season 14. If you like AP champions, then Vladimir might be for you.

The new item changes have benefitted Vladimir and have opened up new build paths for him. This means that he can buy better items that suit his playstyle more compared to the old item sets. All-in-all, Vladimir is a great champion if you want to learn or play mid right now!

Vladimir is an extremely balanced champion with a great build right now. In the next patch, he receives no direct buffs or nerfs.

Vladimir’s win rate on patch 14.1 was 42.93% in over 220,000 games.

Twisted Fate

While far from the most popular Mid laner in LoL, Twisted Fate will be a strong champion in Patch 14.2. He is a safe champion, who does have less kill potential than the other champions on our list, but he does have a ton of map pressure.

Post-6, Twisted Fate can start roaming around the map and helping his allies. One benefit to this is that he can positively impact losing lanes, and get free kills. Another benefit to Twisted Fate is that he can abuse the low health and squishy champions that are being played right now.

Twisted Fate is getting a lot of changes in this patch, which will positively impact him as a whole. But he will feel a bit different to play, so keep this in mind if you want to play him.

In the middle lane, Twisted Fate’s win rate was 51.94% in over 320,000 games on patch 14.1.

Cassiopeia

The next champion on our list is Cassiopeia. While she isn’t a popular champion either, she has a strong laning phase and the ability to carry if she gets a small lead. Cassiopeia can trade from levels 2 onwards with her Q>E spam.

Cassiopeia has good lane priority which is ideal for Junglers and other lanes. She can quickly rotate to help her Jungler if they want to take the objectives in the top or bottom side of the map. She is also great in the mid and late game, which is ideal.

Cassiopeia hasn’t been touched for a while and hasn’t received any direct nerfs or buffs this patch, either.

In this patch, Cassiopeia’s win rate was 53.56%.

Fizz

Fizz is the next champion who has shown a strong performance recently and will continue to in the upcoming patch. With the map changes, Fizz can all-in the enemy over and over again due to the lengthening of the lane.

Fizz has always been a strong champion from levels 2 and 3, and when he hits level 6, he can get another kill. The benefit to playing Fizz are extremely high, you just need to be cocky and love to fight. If you’re not someone who wants to play risky and get in the face of your opponents, then maybe Fizz isn’t the champion for you.

While Fizz will receive some small nerfs in this patch, his damage output will still be quite high, and these nerfs are not super painful.

Fizz had an impressive win rate of 53.57% in 380,000 games on patch 14.1.

Katarina

The final champion on our list is Katarina. If you’re new to Katarina, then you’re just in luck. Katarina is really strong right now and you will often see her solo carrying games just by getting an early kill or 2.

Katarina is always a good champion as her mechanics often surprise her opponents. She is extremely frustrating to play against as she can constantly dodge your damage and kill you repeatedly. If you’re a mechanical genius and love assassins with good roaming potential, why not add Katarina to your roster of champions!

There aren’t any direct Katarina buffs or nerfs, but there is a bug fix coming in on patch 14.1.

And finally, Katarina’s win rate was 51.62% on patch 14.1.

Final Thoughts

To conclude, climbing in LoL can be made easier by playing champions who are currently strong. We highly recommend you pick any of these 5 strong Mid Laners if you want to climb quickly at the start of Season 14.
