Senna

The first champion that we highly recommend you pick up if you haven’t already is Senna. Senna is basically pick or ban right now as she is such a good champion in both the ADC and Support roles. Her aggressive playstyle and poke allow her to be a dominant champion in the current meta.

Senna is a lane dominant Support who has a lot of tools in her kit to make the laning phase for the enemy a nightmare. She has a heal, lots of poke with her Q, and a CC tool with her W. She can also use her Ultimate to pick off enemies around the map, or save her allies. The longer the game goes, she will scale quite hard and can be really strong in the later parts of the game with her large range and damage.

Senna Mid-Patch Stats:

  • Senna isn’t getting any buffs or nerfs this patch.
  • Her win rate in patch 14.3 was 51.4%.
  • She had a 10.7% Pick Rate.
  • Senna is really annoying to play against in both the ADC and Support role. Unsurprisingly, she has a ban rate of 9.4%
  • In Emerald+ and in the Support role, she was played 195,382 times.

Rakan

The next champion on our list is Rakan. Rakan is a really versatile Support who has a lot of play-making potential and can protect his allies. He can engage with his W or Ultimate, but also protect his allies with his Q and E. Learning how to play aggressive Supports is really good if you can abuse their playstyles and don’t mind taking risks.

When playing Rakan, you should look for plays whenever the enemy makes a mistake in the lane. For instance, if they waste their dash, or walk too far forward. You can also look to roam and help your allies out by teaming up with your Jungler. Or you could invade the enemy’s jungle (with your Jungler instead). The main thing to keep in mind is that you need to play aggressive and look for plays. You can’t be a Passive Rakan player and win.

Rakan Mid-Patch Stats:

  • There don’t seem to be any buffs or nerfs directed towards Rakan in this patch.
  • Rakan’s win rate on patch 14.3 was 51.5%.
  • He had a 6.1% Pick Rate.
  • Rakan is honestly one of the more annoying Supports to play against, and that is why he has a 1.2% ban rate.
  • In Emerald+, he was played 111,348 times.

Rell

While her stats might not be the best right now, she is a very deadly Support in the right hands. You’ve guessed it- we are recommending you to play Rell. Rell is an engage champion who loves to make plays throughout all stages of the laning phase. Wait for the enemy to walk a little too far forward and then all-in them to gain an early advantage!

Just like Rakan, you shouldn’t really pick her if you’re not prepared to play aggressively and try to make plays. Without playing aggressively, it’s going to be hard for you to win the laning phase. However, she will always shine in team fights if she gets a good Ultimate off: but you might die fast if you are weak or behind. Remember that you must play aggressively and look to make plays frequently.

Rell Mid-Patch Stats:

  • Rell isn’t getting any direct buffs or nerfs this patch.
  • Her win rate in patch 14.3 was 50.8%.
  • It surprises me how few games Rell has this patch. She only had a 3.1% pick rate.
  • She is sitting at a 1% ban rate. I always ban Rell, regardless of the role I am playing, so I am a part of this statistic!
  • In Emerald+, she was played 56,368 times.

Janna

The 4th champion on our list is the only fully utility champion on our list. If you play any of the champions so far, you should ban this next champion as she can counter their all-ins and make it harder for you to win against her. Janna is a great, easy to play Support who is very versatile and can offer a lot of peel and protection for her allies.

Janna is a great utility champion who can provide a ton of healing and shielding to keep her and her allies alive. In team fights she is superb as she can interrupt engages, stop her team from dying and keep them alive for longer while they dish out damage. The only problem with Janna is that she can’t necessary carry or make plays like the other champions, so you’re somewhat at the mercy of your allies so if they’re bad, you’re kinda screwed.

Janna Mid-Patch Stats:

  • They are not getting any direct buffs or nerfs this patch.
  • Their win rate in patch 14.3 was 52.9%.
  • They also had a 9.3% Pick Rate.
  • Currently, Janna has a 2.2% Ban Rate in patch 14.3.
  • In Emerald+, they were played 170,701 times.

Pyke

The final champion who has seen a rise in popularity lately is Pyke. Pyke used to be my go-to ban when he first came out as he was extremely obnoxious to play against with his Q. He is a strong, aggressive all-in Support that can make plays at level 1 and 2. Post 6, his kill pressure intensifies as he can make plays.

To play Pyke well, you need to look for plays whenever the enemy miss-positions or walks too far forward. We’ve suggest looking for that Q wind-up when they’re away from the minion wave, or when they’re mispositioned. This makes it easier for you to land those crucial shots on them. Post 6, if you’re unable to get kills in the bottom lane, you should look to roam. Roaming will help your allies get ahead.

Pyke Mid-Patch Stats:

  • They are not getting any direct buffs or nerfs this patch.
  • Their win rate in patch 14.3 was 51.2%.
  • They also had a 8.1% Pick Rate.
  • Currently, Pyke has a 10.3% Ban Rate in patch 14.3.
  • In Emerald+, they were played 148,983 times.

Final Thoughts

In Patch 14.4, you can play a ton of different champions, and we’ve only suggested 5 of the very best. Remember you should always play champions you enjoy rather than the ones we recommend as you’ll always climb faster when you enjoy the champion you’re playing.
