Kit Overview

Strengths:

As a Void Hunter, Miyabi has a really high damage ceiling. Most of this damage will come in the form of her level 3 Basic Attack: Shimotsuki. Her second and third damage source would be her Ultimate: Lingering Snow damage (inflicted three or four time on one deadly assault fight) and her attribute anomaly damage in a form of Frostburn: Break and Frost disorders. Having these three weapons in her kit makes it possible for Miyabi to constantly dealing damage while outside and inside the stun window.

Miyabi’s level three hold basic has about ~90% of her ultimate damage multiplier. And with the right agents to support her, she can keep doing her hold basic once every 10 seconds or less. Miyabi’s M2 helps her to generate her resource, fallen frost stacks, for her hold basic more, but with proper rotation, even M0 Miyabi will have no problem on her resource management

The base team for Miyabi would be a disorder team comp with another anomaly agent and a support agent that ideally can turn on the second anomaly agent additional core ability (if needed). Either way, you REALLY WANT a support or HSO member in Miyabi’s team, as Miyabi’s Additional Ability: Bask in Frost is REALLY IMPORTANT.

Miyabi base rotation involves her fallen frost stack management, as you'd want to spam this move as much as possible. The base rotation is as follows:

  • Miyabi start the battle with three fallen frost, > EX (+2), > basic until FROST (+1)
  • Miyabi hold basic (-6)
  • Swap to support for buff/debuff refresh
  • Swap to the second anomaly agent to trigger their anomaly attribute and frost disorder (+2)
  • Swap to support if needed, then to Miyabi when her hold basic is done,
  • Miyabi EX (+2) > Basic until Frost (+1) and trigger disorder on the other attribute anomaly (+2), repeat from step 2.

And as in any other disorder team, it would be best to proc attribute anomaly alternatingly between frost and the second attribute, as double attribute proc would mean a damage loss.

At the last step of the base rotation, you might see that if Miyabi miss the 10s count to trigger disorder, she will not have enough fallen frost stack for hold basic, and forced to use energy for another EX. This is the “problem” that her M2 will solve, but I wouldn’t say it is needed for her rotation. Triggering the next frost within 10s after the second attribute anomaly would be hard only on neutral weakness enemies (with no buildup buff), or ice resistance enemies.

In a disorder team, Miyabi’s decibel generation would have no problem as every attribute anomaly will constantly generate decibels for her, The rule of thumb of her ultimate timing is, if in a fight the team can only get two stun window, then its better to use it ASAP while still trigger it inside stun if possible, but if it is possible to get three to four stun window, timing it at the starts of the stun window is better, as her Ultimate: Lingering Snow gives her ice DMG buff (30%, 12s). On top of that, do still consider the attribute anomaly order and fallen frost stacks.

Weaknesses:

As strong as she is right now, there might be a possible fallout that Miyabi can face in the future. Against neutral weakness enemies, Miyabi would really want anomaly buildup buff from the stage buffs and from support teammate. It would be really hard for her to face an Ice resistance enemy even with good buffs (at least for low mindscape Miyabi), so she does have her limitations.
Miyabi really needs disorders for her resource generations and damage, if there are circumstances where she cant get ample amount of disorder in her rotation, then her damage will significantly decrease as it also decreases her hold basic count in the fight.

Skill Priority

  1. zzz core skill Core Passive
  2. zzz basic attack Basic Attack
  3. zzz ultimate Ultimate
  4. zzz ex special attack EX Special
  5. zzz dodge Dodge & zzz assist Assist

Core passive is the most important leveling aspect on most of ZZZ Agents, including Miyabi. having it maxed at F is recommended. And as pointed out in the kit overview, Basic Attack: Shimotsuki and Ultimate: Lingering Snow is her main source of damage, hamster caging them would also be recommended. As her EX Special Attack: Miyuki is frequently used throughout the fight, leveling it to high level is good.

W-Engines

Hailstorm Shrine

Hailstorm Shrine is her best in slot, giving around 20% or more damage increase compared to the next best alternative. as it gives Miyabi a nice CRIT ratio (24% CR + 50% CDMG), 40% Ice DMG%, and high base ATK, this W-Engine gives a wide amount of value on Miyabi DPS variables, giving another reason why focusing her build on PEN (for M0) is good.

Fusion Compiler

Next to her signature, Fusion Compiler is a fine alternative as it gives a combat ATK buff and PEN ratio substats. Do note that combat ATK buff that Fusion Compiler provides is calculated during the combat, so it is a really good buff in paper (Example: Miyabi with 2900 ATK in the stat screen, will have 2900 + 348 ATK in combat with R1 Fusion Compiler. The PEN ratio subtats does makes it possible for Miyabi to build 48% or even 56% PEN ratio, which is really good (DEF modifier in ZZZ gets better the higher it is, its not scaled linearly), but without any Crit rate substats, you might need 2pc Woodpecker Electro and considerable amount of CR substats to get at her baseline CR

If you have multiple copies, at R3-R5, Fusion Compiler will have considerably close performance with R1 Hailstorm Shrine, but will never be better than it.

Weeping Gemini

Weeping Gemini is the easiest F2P option as it is a craftable W-Engine, but it face the same problem with Fusion Compiler where building Miyabi becomes a bit hard as you'll need a good disc substats roll for her crit ratio. and as the passive gives a huge amount of AP, Miyabi damage source priority will shifts. Her Basic Attack: Shimotsuki will drops a lot, but her shatter, and mainly frost disorder damage will be buffed a lot (she could deal 1-2m disorder damage even outside stun), so getting a high frost disorder count with Weeping Gemini Miyabi is best strategically.

Drive Discs & Stats

Branch & Blade Song is the custom made drive disc especially made for her, there's no reason to deviate from this 4pc.

Miyabi has a variety of optimal builds depending on the other conditions (stage buffs and teammate), so leaving your Miyabi builds flexible would be the best option. here's a base guideline on your Miyabi build:

  • CRIT ratio: You'd want to keep Miyabi combat CRIT rate at least 80% (68% initial CR with 4pc Branch & Blade Song). this can be achieved with Hailstorm Shrine CR substat and CR disc 4.
-If the CR baseline is still not achieved, you might need to consider using 2pc Woodpecker Electro or a support that can hold Unfettered Game Ball.
-If you can achieve the CR baseline without CR Disc 4 thanks to a lot of CR substat rolls on your discs or Unfettered Game Ball huge CR buff, you can use ATK% disc 4 instead.
-Miyabi CRIT damage baseline will be around 120%. Branch & Blade Song and Hailstorm Shrine already gives suffice CDMG for Miyabi damage. and considering Miyabi is mainly an anomaly agent that deals both anomaly (frost disorders) and skill damage, building her on more ATK stat is better as it affect both damage source, while CDMG only increase skill damage.
  • PEN ratio build: the most optimized build for M0 Miyabi is building her full PEN with 32% PEN ratio (PEN disc 5 + 2pc Puffer Electro). If your Miyabi is M1 or higher, or if your Miyabi is in a fight with DEF shred buff (from teammate like Nicole or Trigger, from DA buff like Artful), then her best build will not be on PEN anymore, as DEF shred and PEN stats clash with each other, so changing to ATK build with ATK% disc 5 and 2pc Hormone Punk would be better.
-Ice DMG% Disc 5 is calculated to be the worst at almost all scenario compared to PEN and ATK, but if your Ice DMG% has more good substat rolls, it may still be the best option.
  • AM build: Generally Miyabi will only use AM disc 6 against neutral weakness enemy, as her anomlay buildup on Ice weakness enemy is not a problem. The only exception to this is she is in the Yuzuha Soukaku team where both gives huge ATK buff, making the damage drop from changing her disc 6 from ATK% to AM become negligible, and AM build is better in this team as it gives a lot more momentum on the disorder count in the fight.
-As of 2.1, DA bosses currently is buffed with +10% max anomaly buildup, making Miyabi frost buildup on ice weakness enemy become be a bit slower, and on neutral weakness become painfully slow (without the help of buildup buff from other sources). If you want to compensate for this but don't want the damge drop from dropping ATK% Disc 6, using 2pc Phaethon's Melody is a viable option.

Teams

Double Anomaly Team

Just like it is explained in the base rotation, Having a partner that can proc disorder fast is really good for her resource generation and frost disorder damage, as disorder damage is time dependent (the faster it procs, the higher the damage).

her example disorder partner can be Burnice, Vivian, Grace, and Piper, and for the third slot, preferably a support that can buff both anomaly agent like Lucy, Astra Yao and Yuzuha

I do have my opinion that this team scheme is the weakest compared to Miyabi possible team after this. Double anomaly team consist of two DPS plus one support that needs to buff both of them, the damage will be divided between the two DPS and Miyabi damage output will comparably not as high as if she is in a hypercarry scheme.

Yanagi

Yanagi also has the same reasoning with the other anomaly agent on why she is good for Miyabi, but i choose to mention her separately with an addition that she is a really great sub-DPS that can act as “Miyabi’s battery”, because her polarity disorder from her EX and ultimate will generate 2 stack of fallen frost for Miyabi. With an optimized rotation and good Management on the attribute anomaly uptime and Miyabi’s fallen frost stack count, Yanagi can increase Miyabi’s hold basic count by a lot.

Double Support Team

As Miyabi is a really strong main DPS, in a scenario where she has two support agent buffing here, her damage output will be increased by a lot. although this team scheme gives a problem in Miyabi base rotation where her supports needs to proc frost disorder for Miyabi fallen frost stack generation. This is rather hard, but achievable in Nicole and Astra Yao team where Nicole energy field will build the ether anomaly meter, and Astra Yao tremolo will proc the corruption off field, although it will not always happen consistently fast, but Nicole Ultimate: Ether Grenade energy generation effect for Miyabi will compensate for it so Miyabi can do one more EX Special Attack: Miyuki in the base rotation.

Soukaku

Miyabi Soukaku core team can also be considered as a double support team, but just like Yanagi, I think Soukaku need a separate mention on how good her synergy with Miyabi is. She has a good supportive capability for any Ice DPS agents, including Miyabi, but what makes her better for her than any other support agent is that she has a really good "pseudo anomaly" build with 4pc Freedom Blues, AM Disc 6, and Kaboom the Cannon, which can proc freeze as fast as an anomaly agent. This back to back frost and freeze anomaly also shows another strong synergy between Miyabi and Soukaku where, with the right rotation, they can stunlock freezable boss enemy in a 25 - 30s stun window, and Miyabi can fit 3 to 4 of her level 3 Basic Attack: Shimotsuki inside it.

This strategy does need some practice on executing and masterign it, starting with Soukaku dash attack cancel for her energy and ice anomaly meter management. Even though Soukaku ice anomaly buildup is really high, her EX needs a lot of energy to use. If in the middle of the rotation she doesnt have any energy to use it, then the disorder count in the rotation might get messed up. her dash cancel tech solve this problem by giving her more ways to build anomaly and generating energy actively.

There are mainly three viable teammate for the third slot agent

  • Lycaon, the classic flavor of this team, deemed the "mono ice" team, has been the strongest team in the game for quite a while until recently. his overall debuff capability (25% Ice DMG RES shred, 35% stun mult) is very synergistic with Miyabi, and his dazing capability also fits really well with the team strategy, making it possible to get 3-4 stun window that is amplified by Lycaon stun mult debuff, and prolonged by Soukaku freezes.
  • Trigger, at M0R1, I would consider has the same capability as Lycaon, and worse without her signature. She has some cons where her aftershock attacks will shatters boss enemy freeze prematurely (except for Bringer), and her dazing capability is lower againts ice weak enemy compared to Lycaon, considering her Additional Ability: Silver Lantern's Gaze is inactive in this team. She fits very well with Miyabi on a high mindscape scheme (Synergy with M1 Miyabi), but at low mindscape baseline, the team is hard to play.
  • Yuzuha the new best team for Ice weak enemy, she makes it becomes really easy for both Miyabi and Soukaku to proc freeze and frost, while also gives a lot of buffing on miyabi anomaly damge. even though she has minimal stunning capability, this team make use of the high disorder count to inflict daze on the enemy, making it still possible for them to get 3 stun window against Notorious Butcher in Deadly Assault. And as Yuzuha makes it easier to proc attribute anomaly, the stunlock is also comparable easier to perform as now Soukaku doesn't need to worry much about her energy consumption

Nondisorder team comp

This group of team consist of Miyabi hypercarry team that doesn't consider disorder in the base rotation, (for example: Trigger Astra Yao). Generally these type of team is only good for short duration fight (Daily farm, some shiyu defense fight), but for long fight, require Miyabi to be M2 or higher to make use of the additional way of generating fallen frost stack by full basic attack string.

Mindscapes

Mindscape 1

Virtually 36% DEF shred and 20% team anomaly buildup rate (10s). A good start of her mindscape, as compared to M0 Miyabi that can only build 32% PEN ratio. M1 allows Miyabi to not only get more DEF variable, but also diversify her stats to other variable like ATK. the buildup rate buff also makes it easier for Miyabi to face neutral weak enemy. M1 also makes DEF shred teammate value like Nicole and Trigger higher for Miyabi, as DEF shred stacking is good.

Mindscape 2

30% DMG for Basic Attack: Kazahana and Dodge Counter: Kan Suzume, 15% CRIT rate, and new way of fallen frost generation outside of disorders. M2 is generally the convention on the first place to stop for pulling Miyabi Mindscape. The stat buffs is certainly nice, as for the extra fallen frost generation, for now it'll only be a precaution to if Miyabi missed the 10s disorder in the rotation. This Mindscape shouldn't change Miyabi rotation.

You might think that with M2 Miyabi doesn't need to proc disorder anymore as she can get 6 fallen frost stack just by basic and EX, but I believe it is still too early for that. You'd still want Miyabi to proc disorder so the 30% Ice RES ignore from her Additional Ability: Bask in Frost would still be active.

Mindscape 4

Considerable amount of damage increase on her Frostburn damage, and extra decibels generated will make it possible for Miyabi to get possibly one extra ultimate in the rotation

Mindscape 6

Powers up Miyabi Basic Attack: Shimotsuki by a lot, making her unleash the level 1 and 2 EBA in the middle of charging the level 3, which means a lot more damage multiplier. This does makes the boss stun lock strategy with Soukaku not be as effective, because her level 3 EBA now will shatter the boss freeze instantly (except Bringer), but honestly, the sheer damage of this Mindscape doesn't need stun window to kill the boss.

Additional Tips

I would consider Miyabi to be an easy to learn, but hard to master agent.

Easy to learn because there isn't a lot to manage other than her fallen frost resources. Her base rotation already covers all the conditional buff that she needs from her kit and drive discs.

Hard to master because of how high her potential is.

Start to play her by making sure to trigger anomaly in the correct order and on time by keep watching the anomaly on the enemy by visual cue, or by looking at the anomaly icon below the enemy HP.

Then, we can step up our game with agents that can amplify Miyabi’s rotation, like in a High efficiency fallen frost usage strategy with Yanagi as her battery, or in a Ice-Frost Stunlock strategy with Soukaku and Lycaon that can extend the amplified stun window duration to more than 25s, but do require advance technique such as manual chain trigger and swap cancel tech to properly execute the rotation to its full potential.
