Lucia is an Ether Support Agent who distinguishes herself by being focused exclusively on buffing Rupture Agents. Her total buffs to a team add up to
Note that the Combat HP bonuses do translate to increases in Sheer Force for Rupture Agents.
Ether Veil: Wellspring is the buff that provides the 5% Combat HP increase to the team.
It lasts 40 seconds, and when it's active, a slight tint will overlay the screen and the edges will fill with some special effects. This is a brand new type of buff, functioning as a sort of stage or area effect.
To activate it, Lucia must enter the "Dream State" - this is the only way that the effect can be activated.
If she enters Dream State again before Ether Veil: Wellspring has run out, it will extend the duration by another 40 seconds, maxing out at 300 seconds.
This "Dream State" relates to her Core Passive. Lucia can build "Dream Points", up to 100 - and once this cap is reached, she will go into the Dream State when hitting enemies with certain skills.
When entering the battlefield, Lucia will immediately gain 60 of these Dream Points, and different attacks will generate a varied number of them:
Dodge Counter: Stardust Echo
Quick Assist: Crushing Mist
Special Attack: Symphony of the Reaper - StormAll generate 20 Dream Points, with an independent 5 seconds cooldown.
This means a
Quick Assist followed by a
Special will build 20 + 20 Dream Points. However multiple
Specials cast in a row will only build 20 Dream Points once, with the next generation only happening after the cooldown has expired.
The next set generate 40 Dream Points, being:
Basic Attack: Orbital Combo
Assist Follow-Up: Harmony of Painted Dreams
Chain Attack: Stage of BrillianceThen 60 Dream Points are generated by:
EX Special Attack: Symphony of the Reaper - Daybreak
And 100 Dream Points by:
Ultimate: Charge, Great Armor!
The Dream State isn't just used to activate Ether Veil: Wellspring.
Entering the Dream State will trigger a Quick Assist. This, and
Ultimate, are the only ways of getting Quick Assists with Lucia, as unlike other supports, her
EX Special does not trigger Quick Assists.
The Dream State is also tied to the Ether Veil: Wellspring buff. If it runs out, Lucia will exit the Dream State - even if she's still got 100 Dream Points.
Dream State can also run out once Lucia runs out of Dream Points, which will inevitably happen as she cannot generate Dream Points while in Dream State.
Instead, skills can consume points instead, such as when using Whim skills. When a Whim attack is used during the Dream State, it will consume 25 Dream Points and be upgraded into a Harmony attack, significantly increasing its damage multiplier.
Whim skills are:
Basic Attacks
Dodge Counters
Quick Assists
SpecialsThere are also skills which are always of the Harmony type regardless of use. These are:
EX Specials
Assist Follow-Ups
Chain Attacks
UltimatesAs they are already Harmony skills, they cannot be upgraded, and so do not consume Dream Points.
EX Special Attack: Symphony of the Reaper - Daybreak and
Ultimate: Charge, Great Armor!however, do get a bonus of extending the duration of Ether Veil: Wellspring if used in the Dream State, by 16s and 32s respectively.
As
Ultimate cannot generate Dream Points while in the Dream State, it instead will automatically refresh the state once it runs out, making for an immediate transition from 0 back to 100. This effect cannot be stacked.
Upgrading Whim skills is not recommended, as Lucia can also use up 25 Dream Points to perform an Aftershock, where she summons an Ethereal to attack. There are 3 variants:
Basic Attack damage.
Special damage.
Assist damage.Which one is used is random. All Aftershocks do the same damage (1,100% at level 12), far exceeding any Whim to Harmony skill upgrade.
There is a cooldown on Aftershocks, being 8 seconds, however this cooldown is shared with the skill upgrades.
So once an Aftershock is triggered, no other Aftershock can happen again for 8 seconds. Likewise, if Dream Points are used upgrading a Whim skill, that refreshes the cooldown, meaning no Aftershocks can happen for another 8 seconds after the upgrade.
There is no cooldown on upgrading Whim skills, but that's a bad thing, as it makes it easy to accidentally burn through Dream Points very quickly.
Aftershocks will also activate and refresh her other buffs: Darkbreaker and Dreamer's Nursery Rhyme.
Darkbreaker is what gives the Sheer Force buff and - if Lucia's Additional Ability is active - provides an extra 30% Crit Damage on top, lasting 20 seconds, triggered by using any Harmony skill or Aftershock.
It does not give 900 Sheer Force by default, as it scales with Lucia's pre-combat HP. That is the number seen on the stat sheet in the Agent menu before loading into a fight.
By default, Darkbreaker only gives 12 Sheer Force at base, but for every 200 points of HP that Lucia has, that value increases by 7.4 - capping at 24,000 HP. This is a steep requirement, necessitating 3x HP % Drive Discs in most circumstances.
Dreamer's Nursery Rhyme, is what provides the 20% DMG bonus stat, lasting 12 seconds. When any skill upgrade or Aftershock is used, the buff is refreshed.
As Darkbreaker can be activated with Aftershocks and so can Dreamer's Nursery Rhyme, relying on it to periodically refresh the buffs and do damage is the ideal choice.
Lucia's damage is poor, despite the good multipliers.
As she is almost certain to run multiple HP % Drive Discs and is not a Rupture Agent herself, the lack of offensive stats significantly hinder her damage contribution.
When using Harmonies however, the final hit of the skill is enhanced with up to 70% of Lucia's max HP as additional damage, scaling with
EX Special.
As it is a fixed increase, regardless of the move's damage multiplier, the last hit of any Harmony attack or Aftershock gets increased by the same amount.
This is applied based on Lucia's Combat HP and as a bonus to the base damage, and not as a separate multiplier - so defence, resistances, crits all matter, and buffs like Ether Veil: Wellspring, Darkbreaker and Dreamer's Nursery Rhyme all contribute to having it hit harder.
The damage is still quite low, but over the course of a run it can add up.
Most of Lucia's kit is unremarkable.
Basic Attack: Orbital Combo deals middling damage and takes far too long, and
Dodge Counter: Stardust Echo will never see use, as she's always in the backlines.
Quick Assist: Crushing Mist is more of a hindrance than a boom. As it is a Whim skill, it consumes Dream Points and delays Aftershocks when it isn't good to do so, and its 20 Dream Point generation is hard to use.
Assist Follow-Up: Harmony of Painted Dreams can be decent, mostly due to its Harmony type as well as being fast for the Daze it builds. Despite it having higher Dream Point generation, it's difficult to make use of, and Defensive Assists are better given to the Rupture Agent or a Stunner if available.
Special Attack: Symphony of the Reaper - Storm is weak - even if upgraded into a Harmony - and its Dream Point generation is too meager to give it value. Yet it is still a good skill, if only for being one of the fastest Heavy Attacks in the game while also having good range, making it great for triggering
Chain Attacks. Be mindful that as it can consume Dream Points, it will mean exiting out of Dream State faster.
Chain Attack: Stage of Brilliance is fast, but its Dream Point generation is hard to use effectively and current Rupture Agents either rely either on Chain cancels or double Chains, so this rarely sees use.
The problem with all of the above attacks is how adding up to 100 Dream Points is difficult to do so in practice. Doing a
Quick Assist, then a
Special, then a
Chain Attack only generates 80 points - still 20 points short. With the 5 second cooldown on the 20 Dream Point skills, Lucia ends up being locked out of Dream State until its up.
EX Special Attack: Symphony of the Reaper - Daybreak then is the best skill in her arsenal, as it generates 60 Dream Points and - most importantly - shortcuts to the final hit of
Basic Attack.
With 60 Dream Points from EX and 40 from Basic 5, that's the 100 needed to immediately get back to Dream State.
Ultimate: Charge, Great Armor! is another great skill, with it always leading to an instant entry into Dream State. Using it in Dream State for the automatic refresh and extension to Ether Veil: Wellspring is even better.
It also has other additional properties, namely:
The immortality is nice to have, but functionally useless, as the Ultimate provides full invulnerability outside of the extension. Said extension is also weak, with a low damage multiplier that does not justify how long it takes. Unless the extra range is needed, it shouldn't be used.
The AoE heal is useful though, as some Rupture units, like
Manato, use their own HP as a resource and can struggle with regenerating it fast enough.
Although the heal immediately ends if the character is swapped out of, it will linger on an active character for 4s after exiting the zone, be it from moving out or it expiring.
Core Passive |
EX Special
Basic Attack |
Assist |
Ultimate
DodgeLucia's Darkbreaker and HP damage add scales with
EX Special, whereas Dreamer's Nursery Rhyme scales with
Core Passive: Lost Nocturne. This makes them both a priority, especially Core due to its Energy Regen level bonuses.
Ultimate healing scales with level, so it's good to prioritize if using her alongside Agents that benefit from the regen (like
Manato), but as Aftershocks scale with
Basic Attack and
Assist, they're just as important if not more so.
Dodge is rarely used and does not contribute to buffs or Aftershocks so it can be left at 1.
As a Support, Lucia has good W-Engine options, but as she's meant to be run with Rupture Agents, Attack increases do not translate all that well, which limits their effectivess.
Since her signature is the only usable option that provides HP %, any other pick would require very good substats.
Dreamlit Hearth (P1) provides:
Being Lucia's signature weapon, it's unsurprising that this is a great weapon. As it has an HP % main stat, it makes building her a lot easier, significantly reducing the number of Attack Substats required to hit the 24,000 HP required to max out Darkbreaker's Sheer Force buff.
The ER it provides may not be as much as that of an ER D6 or W-Engine main stat, but it's enough to afford an EX Special cast every 25s for
Moonlight Lullaby or whenever Dream State drops off.
What makes this such a good W-Engine however, are the team-wide gains. 25% DMG Bonus is already more than other S-Rank Support W-Engines, like
Elegant Vanity.
15% Combat HP is also huge for Rupture Agents - translating to an extra 200 Sheer Force or so (depending on the unit's Max HP).
All these put together make it far better than most other alternatives.
Unfettered Game Ball (P5) provides:
50% Energy Regen
20% Crit Rate for 12s on hit against enemies weak to the user's element
Despite being an A-Rank weapon, it is still an immensely powerful option. With Lucia's Aftershocks happening every 8 seconds, the buff should have 100% uptime, and its Crit Rate increase is very strong.
As most bosses in the game are Ether weak, its matchup spread is good, but it completely falls apart against neutral or resistant enemies.
Kaboom the Cannon (P5) provides:
It's the safest all-rounder option. Constant Aftershocks means that Lucia will always be able to maintain her own stack. Most times it'll be at 3/4 stacks, for a 12% Combat Attack bonus, as the final stack would need to come from a Bangboo (the Ethereals summoned do not count as separate units).
Combat Attack is always good, but for Rupture Agents who have only a 30% conversion rate on Attack to Sheer Force, it falls off significantly. It is still a strong pick regardless, and shouldn't be underestimated.
Weeping Cradle (P1) provides:
The PEN Ratio main stat does very little, as Lucia's damage isn't particularly high. The little that she does is unlikely to be saturated, which would make Attack a better main stat.
It also means no ER main stat, and with her running no ER D6 Drive Disc, this can be a problem. The 0.6 ER bonus counteracts this, but as it only applies when the user is off-field, it stops working whenever she comes in for an Aftershock.
On the flipside, its team-wide buff is DMG bonus rather than Attack. This gets around the issue of Attack bonuses not translating well to Sheer Force.
And although the ER is lackluster, in practice it is more than enough to sustain an EX Special cast every 25 seconds, which means no issues in terms of
Moonlight Lullaby or Dream State uptime.
Do be careful about using
EX Special in Dream State though, such as to trigger Chains, as that could lead to energy issues if Ultimate is not available.
D6 - HP %
D5 - HP %
D4 - HP %
There isn't much to comment for stats, as even with
Dreamlit Hearth and a 2-piece
Yunkui Tales, Lucia is still likely to need all 3 Drive Disc main stat options to be HP % in order to max out Darkbreaker's Sheer Force buff.
If there are enough substats, then one of the 3 slots could be replaced with a different stat, such as ER for D6, ATK or DMG Bonus for D5, or Crit Rate for D4, but the total gain would be minuscule - especially as Lucia's Harmonies scale with HP anyways.
ER could see a use case for specific fights, like Miasma Priest, where Daze thresholds can be tight and extra uses of EX Special can be helpful, but maxing out the buff would still take priority.
With barely any ways of triggering Quick Assists,
Astral Voice's 4-piece is not an option, which leaves only
Moonlight Lullaby.
It ends up working out very well with the natural cadence of Dream State cycles, as they'll usually last somewhere between 25 to 30 seconds - so just using EX Special to re-enter Dream State is enough. Ultimate does extend this, but then just remember to use it every so often to maintain the buff.
2-piece is almost always going to be
Yunkui Tales, due to the steep HP requirements. If using
Dreamlit Hearth and not lacking in HP substats damage-oriented sets, like
Woodpecker Electro,
Hormone Punk or
Chaotic Metal are fine to use.
On some fights and certain rotations, having a little extra energy can mean either an extra out-of-stun
EX Specials for daze build, or better timing on its uses, in which case
Swing Jazz works as a niche but still useful option if HP is already maxed.
As non-Rupture Agents gain no benefit from Sheer Force, Lucia's teams are rather restricted. It boils down to a shell of:
Lucia | Rupture | Filler
With only
Yixuan and
Manato as Rupture Agents in the game currently, they are the only 2 units that Lucia will run with until more are added to the game.
For the "Filler" unit, a strong Stunner or Support that is compatible with Rupture works fine.
Ju Fufu would be the best general option, but
Qingyi,
Trigger,
Astra Yao,
Koleda,
Pulchra,
Pan Yinhu, etc. all work fine.
Secret Friend provides:
To all Agents with the Dreamer's Nursery Rhyme Buff, as well as:
Echo is attained whenever using a skill upgrade and has a cap of 4.
This is arguably one of the strongest M1s in the entire game, this is a significant improvement not just to damage but to routing.
The damage gains are sizeable, with it being comparable to other strong Mindscapes like
Astra Yao's M1 12-Tone Equal Temperament, but it comes with the added benefit of enhancing all Agents' Decibel Generation by 5%.
All sources of generation are enhanced, so that's Decibels from skill use, but also those from action bonuses (like
Assists or
Perfect Dodges), stage mechanics (Unknown Corruption Complex's Leg Breaks) and even generalised gains, such as
Ju Fufu's
Additional Ability: Aura of Authority.
5% may seem small, but over the course of a run this can help better align
Ultimates and in some cases - namely with
Yixuan and
Ju Fufu - unlock brand new in-stun rotations.
The automatic re-application of Dreamer's Nursery Rhyme is a minor Quality of Life improvement, as some characters can have long animations on their attacks that lead to it falling off halfway through.
Although Lucia doesn't really want to use skill upgrades most of the time, some routing will demand it to better align Dream States, so it's a nice help to have that minimises the need to micromanage attack finishers to refresh the buff.
Great Magician provides:
A solid stat-boosting Mindscape, but moreso for Rupture Agents rather than Lucia herself.
The Harmony boost doesn't do much, as Lucia's damage is generally poor, and while it does add up over the course of a fight it isn't making a significant difference. As it is a DMG % Bonus and not a change to skills' multipliers, it gets saturated by stage buffs,
Dreamlit Hearth and even Dreamer's Nursery Rhyme.
Sheer DMG, however, is very strong. As it is a separate multiplier from DMG % Bonus and it stacks with Sheer Force directly, it sees very little saturation. Unlike Attack bonuses, which are diluted by Flat Attack gains, as this is applied to the final Sheer Force stat, HP % increases and flat Sheer buffs - like Darkbreaker - receive full benefit.
As only Rupture Agents scale with Sheer Force though, this means it benefits them, and them alone.
Late-Night Hours provides:
This Mindscape ranges from absurdly strong to worthless depending on how it's integrated. Having 100 Decibels given freely to the whole team is a massive increase. As it applies to extensions, it means that
EX Special Attack: Symphony of the Reaper - Daybreak and
Ultimate: Charge, Great Armor! both trigger it while in the Dream State, not to mention any entry of the Dream State itself.
This will often far exceed gains given by M1 Secret Friend in Decibels, and can allow even more optimised routing in fights and damaging combos, enabling double
Ultimates in 1 stun period with
Yixuan (and sometimes @Yidhari, depending on the fight).
As the Mindscape offers no generic stat boosts, its value is entirely determined by whether these extra (or earlier) Decibels see use, so it will require some thinking and adaptation to shine through.
The Never-Ending Journey provides:
This Mindscape allows for Lucia to function as a sub-DPS unit of sorts, significantly increasing her personal damage. Compared to M0, after her previous Mindscapes are taken into consideration, this is likely to average a near x4 increase in her damage contribution to a team.
Unfortunately, as her damage is poor to begin with, this is not too great an increase. The Combat ATK is based on initial HP, not combat HP, so bonuses from Ether Veil: Wellspring and
Dreamlit Hearth do not boost it further.
As many of her buffs focus on improving Sheer Force - which Lucia does not benefit from - and she needs to use HP % Drive Discs and substats to max out her Darkbreaker buff, even a 100% Crit Rate does not do all that much, as Lucia will not have a large enough amount of Crit DMG to make too great a difference.
If she is built with a Crit DMG D4 and still manages to scrounge up enough HP substats to sustain it, this Mindscape can perform better, but otherwise its a nice passive boost to Lucia's personal damage but nothing particularly outstanding.
For once, the skill level Mindscapes can be useful too, as Darkbreaker's buff increases based on
EX Special level. This increases it from 900 to 948 at M3 and 996 at M5, making it a handy boost to Rupture Agents' damage.
Step 1: Position yourself in such a way that you can go straight into
Basic 5 just as combat begins, getting a fast entry into Dream State and buff activation from her Aftershocks.
Step 2: If you're not very high on energy, do not use
EX Specials while in the Dream State - that way, when Lucia runs out, you can do an EX into Basic 5 shortcut to immediately get it back up.
Step 3: When
Ultimate comes up, use it while Dream State is active for a refresh later.
If at any point Lucia is at the risk of overcapping on energy, it's fine to throw out an
EX Special during Dream State. In fact, try to use EXs every 25 seconds to sustain
Moonlight Lullaby.
Doing so should not risk Dream State maintenance. The first Aftershock happens as soon as Lucia enters Dream State, so that leaves her with only 75 Dream Points for 3 more Aftershocks. Since they happen every 8 seconds, and each costs 25 Dream Points, that makes the first Dream State cycle 24 seconds long.
Realistically it may be longer, 26, 28, a bit more depending on how frequently enemies are being attacked, but that's enough of a buffer to build energy for full buff uptime.
Further cycles will take longer, at least 34 seconds, but with delays between Aftershocks adding up, boss mechanics and refreshes from
Ultimate, you might only need to refresh Dream State once or twice over the course of a whole fight.
With an Energy Regen W-Engine - like
Unfettered Game Ball or
Kaboom the Cannon - or even
Dreamlit Hearth, then even with a triple HP % setup in Drive Discs, there's so much energy that
EX Specials need to be used in Dream State anyways just to avoid overcapping.
Daze thresholds can be quite hard to meet at times, especially on fights like Miasma Priest.
This tends to need gimmicks, like making use of
Yixuan's Auric Array's Vital View to hold the boss in place to afford your team enough time to build the Daze.
With
Yixuan |
Ju Fufu |
Astra Yao teams, it often still isn't enough, mandating out-of-stun Ultimates to keep Miasma Priest locked down. It's to the point that
Qingyi is arguably a better stunner for the fight, simply because she makes skipping Miasma Shield and getting 4 stuns a lot easier.
At times like these, the Daze contribution that Lucia brings to a team can be surprisingly helpful.
On the surface, her total Daze contribution really isn't any good, as her Aftershocks do 0 Daze.
EX Special Attack: Symphony of the Reaper - Daybreak however, can build a decent amount of Daze, especially if followed through with a
Basic 5 shortcut. Doing this in critical periods can be key to meeting tight thresholds and getting extra stuns in difficult fights.
Lucia does not need to hit enemies to generate Dream Points, she just needs to be in combat. This means that by positioning yourself well at the start of a fight, you can use her
Basic Attack: Orbital Combo string in such a way that the fight begins just as she's about to cast the 5th hit.
As it generates 40 Dream Points and Lucia starts with 60, that allows for an instant entry into Dream State.
EX Special Attack: Symphony of the Reaper - Daybreak functions more like a melee skill than a ranged skill. Its "Heavy Attack" potion is on its first hit, yet it has "Finishers" on both its first and last hits.
What this means is that it will only trigger Chain Attacks in stun on the very first slash attack, but can still initiate stun with the last hit of the projectile attack. Be wary of this if you're expecting a quick Chain trigger going into a stun, as most of the Daze built by
EX Special comes after the initial slash.
