WoW Forever Alliance Leveling Guide: The Fastest Way to Level Alts and Earn Legacy Points

Beginner
Updated on Oct 26, 2026
Oct 26, 2026

Overview

This guide focuses on leveling nine Alliance characters efficiently while unlocking 21 Legacy Points, maximizing rested experience, and saving thousands of gold through smart profession choices.

Rather than rushing a single character to level 60, the strategy involves leveling four characters simultaneously, rotating between them to accumulate rested XP, and completing dungeon quests for large experience rewards.

Body Text

Our ultimate goal:

  • Four characters at level 35.
  • Five additional characters at level 25.
  • Six crafting professions at skill level 225.
  • 21 total Legacy Points.
  • A roster of characters accumulating rested XP.

Note: This strategy is based on beta information. Dungeon requirements and experience rewards may change.

-

Step 1: Create Your First Four Characters

Our first priority is creating four characters whose professions support one another:

Run the 3 alts to the first Inn and log them off to start stacking Rested Exp!

Main - Mage - Tailoring + Herbalism

Alt 1 - Warlock - Alchemy + Herbalism, later Enchanting

Alt 2 - Paladin - Mining + Blacksmithing, later Engineering

Alt 3 - Hunter - Skinning + Leatherworking

You don't have to choose these classes. The important thing is covering all six primary crafting professions.

-

Step 2: Level Each Character to 10

1. Start with your main character.

Train Tailoring and Herbalism, gather materials while leveling, and craft eight Linen Bags at level 10. Keep four and mail four to your first alt.

2. Next, level your Alchemy character to 10. Initially train Herbalism to gather additional herbs, then replace it with Enchanting when you're ready.

3. Your third character should train Mining and Blacksmithing. Save ore, stones, and cloth for Engineering. Craft inexpensive green items and send them to your Enchanter.

4. Finally, level your fourth character with Skinning and Leatherworking.

Important Reminder: Park characters at inns whenever you're not actively playing them. They'll accumulate rested XP while you level your other characters.

-

Step 3: Prepare for Hall of Thanes (Levels 10–16)

Hall of Thanes is one of the best early Alliance dungeons in WoW Forever.

Located in Ironforge, this dungeon offers several valuable quests. However, some require preparation before entering.

Hall of Thanes Quest Checklist

  • Travel to Ironforge and establish your inn.
  • Pick up Important Heirlooms from Thom Filch.
  • Pick up The Restless Dead from Afadra Dunwall.
  • Complete Underground Map in Dun Morogh.
  • Unlock Old Ironforge Incursion from Earthseer Farsen.
  • Reach approximately level 13–16 before entering.

Inside Hall of Thanes

Complete your objectives and collect:

  • Eight Dwarven Heirlooms.
  • The required enemies for The Restless Dead.
  • An Ancient Grudge, obtained inside the dungeon.
  • The Treaty of Understanding, obtained from a tablet in a vault near the final boss.

Make sure you collect the tablet in the boss room vault before leaving!

After completing the dungeon, turn in your quests and prepare for Deadmines.

-

Step 4: Prepare for Deadmines (Levels 15–18)

Deadmines offers excellent quest experience, but completing its prerequisite chains is extremely important.

Several of the dungeon quests begin in Westfall and Stormwind.

Deadmines Quest Checklist

  • Travel to Westfall and unlock Sentinel Hill.
  • Begin The Defias Brotherhood quest chain.
  • Complete the required Defias prerequisite quests.
  • Unlock Red Silk Bandanas from Scout Riell.
  • Begin Testing the Wells from Alba Fairmoon.
  • Unlock Destruction in Deadmines.
  • Pick up Collecting Memories in Stormwind.
  • Pick up Oh Brother... in Stormwind.
  • Pick up Underground Assault from Shoni the Shilent.

Completing these chains while leveling naturally through Westfall can save considerable preparation time.

-

Step 5: Run Deadmines (Levels 17–21)

Once you've collected the available dungeon quests, head to Moonbrook.

During your run:

  1. Complete the Defias Brotherhood dungeon objective.
  2. Collect Red Silk Bandanas.
  3. Complete Underground Assault.
  4. Collect the detonator for Destruction in Deadmines.
  5. Complete any remaining objectives.

The Collecting Memories and Oh Brother... objectives are in the mine areas outside the main instance, so complete those during your trip.

Don't forget An Unsent Letter!

Edwin VanCleef drops this quest-starting item, which leads into additional Alliance quests associated with Stockades.

After finishing Deadmines, turn in your quests and park your character at an inn.

Now repeat Hall of Thanes and Deadmines with your other characters.

-

Step 6: Rotate Characters to Maximize Rested XP

This is the foundation of the entire strategy.

Instead of leveling one character continuously, rotate between all four.

Example rotation:

  1. Complete dungeon quests on your Mage, then park it at an inn.
  2. Level your Warlock while your Mage accumulates rested XP.
  3. Switch to your Paladin and repeat.
  4. Level your Hunter while the others rest.
  5. Return to your Mage and continue.

Rested XP provides bonus experience from eligible enemy kills, including dungeon mobs. It doesn't increase quest turn-in rewards.

By rotating characters, you'll spend more of your playtime earning bonus experience.

-

Step 7: Continue Toward Level 25

After Deadmines, continue questing in Redridge Mountains, Duskwood, or Wetlands.

Your next primary dungeon should be Stockades, located inside Stormwind.

Complete as many associated quest chains as possible before entering, including the follow-ups from An Unsent Letter.

Stockades is particularly convenient because you can easily return to Stormwind for training, professions, and quest turn-ins.

Optional: Blackfathom Deeps

If you need additional experience, consider Blackfathom Deeps.

Alliance quests include:

  • Knowledge in the Deeps
  • Researching the Corruption
  • In Search of Thaelrid
  • Twilight Falls
  • Blackfathom Villainy

These require additional travel, so BFD isn't necessarily worth running on every character.

Your objective is to get all four original characters to level 25.

-

Step 8: Unlock Your First 10 Legacy Points

At this stage, we're working toward two major milestones.

First: Four characters at level 25.

Second: All six primary crafting professions at skill level 150.

Milestone // Legacy Points

Six professions at 150 - 6 Legacy Points

Four characters at level 25 - 4 Legacy Points

Total - 10 Legacy Points

If your professions aren't all at 150 yet, continue gathering materials and leveling them as resources become available.

Which Legacy Talents Should You Choose?

For characters actively leveling professions, prioritize 5/5 Working Overtime.

This talent increases your chances of gaining profession skill levels, reducing the materials and gold needed.

For additional leveling characters, prioritize:

  • 5/5 Well-Rested: Improves your ability to accumulate rested experience.
  • 5/5 Talented: Supports your character's leveling progression.

Alternatively, Thrill of the Adventure may be useful for classes that benefit from extra healing while chain-pulling enemies.

Be careful when resetting Legacy Talents, as respec requirements and costs can add up.

-

Step 9: Create Five Additional Alts

Once you've unlocked enough Legacy Points, create your remaining five characters.

Level them to approximately level 6–7 and park them at inns.

These characters will accumulate rested experience while your original four continue progressing.

There's no need to rush their leveling.

The goal is to build a roster of characters that will already have rested XP and Legacy Talents available when you're ready to play them.

-

Step 10: Excavation Site and Level 30

Once your first four characters reach approximately level 26–28, consider completing the Excavation Site dungeon in Wetlands.

This is important because completing the dungeon contributes toward the Novice Spelunker achievement, which awards another Legacy Point.

Pick up the associated quests before entering.

The nearby Skywatcher Plateau quest hub is also valuable, offering multiple convenient quests and rewards such as a 12-slot bag and a movement-speed trinket.

Repeat the dungeon and quests on your other characters as needed.

Optional: Shadowfang Keep and the City of Dalaran

Around levels 28–30, City of Dalaran becomes another potential leveling option.

Completing the Grimy Tome quest chain from Shadowfang Keep provides the Tome of Doran, which is used to summon a secret boss.

However, Alliance players face additional travel and quest preparation.

I would treat this as optional rather than mandatory for every character.

-

Step 11: Work Toward 21 Legacy Points

Now we're entering the final phase of our strategy.

Continue leveling your first four characters toward 35 while advancing their crafting professions toward 225.

Meanwhile, use the rested experience on your five newer characters to level them toward 25.

Our ultimate targets remain:

  • Four characters at level 35.
  • Five characters at level 25.
  • Six professions at 225.
  • 21 total Legacy Points.

Continue rotating characters and prioritizing efficient dungeon quests.

The precise route beyond level 30 wasn't fully established during beta, so you'll have flexibility in choosing zones and dungeons.

Alliance Dungeon Leveling Quick Reference

Level Range // Dungeon

14–17 - Hall of Thanes

17–21 - Deadmines

24–26 - Stockades

25–28 - Blackfathom Deeps (optional)

26–30 - Excavation Site

28–30+ - Shadowfang Keep and the City of Dalaran (optional)

These are recommended ranges rather than fixed requirements.

Final Thoughts

I love this leveling strategy because it rewards players who enjoy leveling multiple characters.

Instead of rushing one character to 60, we're taking advantage of everything the Legacy Talent system has to offer.

We're unlocking account-wide progression, maximizing rested experience, leveling professions efficiently, and potentially saving thousands of gold.

And the best part? You don't have to rush.

Play one character, complete some quests, run a dungeon, and park it at an inn. Then switch to another character and repeat.

By the time you're ready to push toward level 60, you'll have an entire roster of characters prepared for the journey.
