Restoration Druid Guide | <Progress> Devil

Updated on Oct 28, 2026
Oct 28, 2026

Overview

Restoration Druid is a healer that keeps allies alive with spells that restore health over time. These healing-over-time effects, often called HoTs, work best when you apply them before damage arrives. You also have direct heals for players who need health immediately.

Rejuvenation provides steady healing, while Regrowth combines an immediate heal with a lasting effect. Healing Touch is your larger cast-time heal. As you gain talents, Swiftmend adds a quick emergency heal and Wild Growth helps heal several members of the same party.

Good Druid healing means preparing for damage, choosing when a direct heal is needed, and saving mana when your existing HoTs can finish the job. You also bring useful buffs, debuff removal and a resurrection usable during combat.

Strengths And Weaknesses

  • Healing-over-time spells let you prepare for incoming damage.
  • Instant heals help you respond to danger while moving.
  • Battle resurrection and useful group support add raid utility.
  • Healing-over-time effects need time to work. Sudden damage may need a direct heal.
  • Wild Growth heals the targeted player's party, so choosing the right group matters.
  • Careless spell use can drain your mana. Plan recovery and cooldowns.

Guide Variants

Restoration works well if you heal a questing partner or a regular dungeon group. If you mainly quest alone, the Feral Druid leveling guide offers the Feral route. The talent setups here remain Restoration. Using forms between groups does not turn them into a Feral build.

Weapon damage and more item effects matter in forms, making your solo equipment worth checking.

Healer route — 0/0/21 at level 30

  • 10–14: Nature's Focus 5/5.
  • 15–19: Naturalist 5/5.
  • 20: Gift of the Earthmother 1/1.
  • 21–24: Gift of Nature 4/5.
  • 25: Swiftmend 1/1.
  • 26: finish Gift of Nature 5/5.
  • 27–29: Reflection 3/3.
  • 30: Nature's Swiftness 1/1.

This order takes the key early healing talents as soon as they become available. Gift of the Earthmother is the 11-point talent. Swiftmend is the 16-point talent and no longer consumes the target's Rejuvenation or Regrowth. Naturalist also helps damage, while Reflection improves mana regeneration during casting.

Gameplay & Rotation

Healing priorities

  1. Steady tank damage: apply Rejuvenation when the tank will need its ticks. Add Regrowth when both its initial heal and HoT are needed.
  2. Larger amounts of damage: use Healing Touch when you have time to cast. Keep a lower rank for smaller heals and your highest useful rank for heavy damage.
  3. Immediate danger: Swiftmend becomes available at 25 in this build. It needs a suitable HoT on the target but does not consume that HoT in Forever.
  4. A second emergency: at 30, Nature's Swiftness makes your next Healing Touch instant. Avoid using both emergency cooldowns when one is enough.
  5. AoE damage: train Tranquility at 30. Use it when several allies need healing and you can stand still safely for the channel.

Utility quick guide

  • Mark of the Wild: maintain your party buff and reapply after a resurrection.
  • Thorns: consider it on the tank when enemies are making melee attacks. Avoid wasting mana refreshing an existing buff early.
  • Remove Curse / Abolish Poison: clear a relevant dangerous effect instead of repeatedly healing through it.
  • Hibernate: control an appropriate Beast or Dragonkin when that is safer than fighting everything at once. Coordinate so damage does not immediately break it.
  • Entangling Roots: can be cast indoors in Forever. Use it when controlling the enemy helps the party. A rooted caster may still cast, so rooting is not an interrupt.
  • Faerie Fire: apply to a suitable priority target when healing is secure and the party benefits from reduced armor.

Resurrection and recovery

Use Revive between fights when trained. Rebirth is your combat resurrection. Carry the reagent required by the rank you know, and choose a safe moment to bring someone back. Rebuff revived allies.

Let HoTs finish when the target is safe. A safe pause in mana spending can improve regeneration. Do not keep casting just to stay busy. Communicate a drink break before the next pull.

Questing between groups

Use damage spells or forms between groups, heal between fights, and pull conservatively in healing gear. If you spend most of your time alone, use the class leveling guide linked in the Default and Leveling variants. In Forever, reassess weapons rather than following old Classic advice that ignores weapon damage in forms.

Solo combat by level

  • 1–9: pull with Wrath and apply Moonfire if the enemy will live long enough to use its damage over time. Finish easy enemies with weapon attacks when that conserves enough mana to avoid another drinking stop.
  • 10–19: complete the Bear Form quest. Use Maul on single enemies and Swipe for controlled multi-target pulls once learned. Heal before re-entering form, allowing your mana to recover during form-based combat.
  • 20–30: complete the Cat Form quest. Build combo points with Claw and use Rake when the bleed has time to work. Spend points with an available finishing move before the target dies. Use Rip only when its duration is worthwhile. Use Bear Form when survival matters more than damage.

Key spell milestones

  • 10: Bear Form class quest unlocks your first combat form.
  • 14: Cure Poison quest adds important support utility.
  • 16: Aquatic Form quest improves swimming and underwater travel.
  • 20: Cat Form quest opens the main Feral questing style. The healer route takes Gift of the Earthmother.
  • 25: Swiftmend in this Restoration build gives an urgent heal when a suitable HoT is present.
  • 30: train Travel Form and Tranquility. This healer route also takes Nature's Swiftness.

Level 20 also adds baseline Omen of Clarity. Track Clearcasting while healing and questing. Wrath does not consume it, so you can retain the proc for a useful heal.

Gear

Use these checkpoints to compare upgrades while leveling. Bring a group for dungeons and difficult quest steps. The listed levels don't mean they can be completed solo.

1–17: build a usable healing set

Use quest rewards and affordable green items with useful caster stats. Keep them when swapping into Feral equipment. You do not need a rare staff before healing your first suitable group.

18–20: compare early dungeon weapons

  • Living Root — Wailing Caverns: a healing-focused staff requiring 18. Compare its healing and spell-damage bonuses with your current weapon.
  • Emberstone Staff — Deadmines: an alternative to inspect when the dungeon fits your route. Compare its current stats with your weapon and prioritize a run that also completes your quests.
  • Crescent Staff — Horde, Leaders of the Fang: inspect this Wailing Caverns quest reward. Compare its current tooltip with your healing and questing weapons. It is not an automatic healing upgrade.

21–30: buy only a meaningful improvement

Staff of the Friar requires 21 and binds when equipped. Compare its healing bonus, Spirit and smaller spell-damage bonus if you find one or see an affordable listing. Carry on with your current staff if the improvement does not justify the price.

Keep healing and questing gear

  • Healing set: compare healing bonuses, Intellect, regeneration and enough Stamina to survive. Weapon DPS does not increase your healing.
  • Questing set: compare the weapon and stats that improve your damage style. Keep useful healing pieces in your bags when equipping a melee upgrade.
  • Fallback: quest rewards and affordable green items are enough to keep leveling. Don't spend hours chasing one rare drop.

Everyday leveling supplies

  • Water: buy the strongest vendor water you can currently use. Drink between pulls. Mana potions supplement this rather than replacing it.
  • Mana potions: carry Minor Mana Potion early, then upgrade to Lesser Mana Potion and higher ranks as you level. Use a potion before you go OOM (out of mana), but wait until enough mana is missing to avoid wasting it.
  • Food: Roasted Boar Meat grants a well-fed bonus that includes 5% extra experience from kills. Eat for at least 10 seconds to gain the buff. It lasts 15 minutes. This is not a bonus to quest experience. Other food can provide more relevant stats.

Optional, affordable upgrades

  • Elixir of Wisdom: usable from 10, granting 6 Intellect for an hour. Consider it when inexpensive, especially before a dungeon.
  • Light Armor Kit: an early upgrade for eligible chest, leg, hand or foot armor. Check the applied tooltip, since the bonus depends on the item. Use it on a piece you expect to keep rather than replacing kits after every quest reward.

Keep potions and other recovery items on easy-to-reach keybinds. Prioritize water, training and a meaningful gear upgrade before buying a full stack of optional buffs.

Leveling enchants on a budget

Save gold for training, bags and riding before buying expensive enchants for short-lived upgrades. If the price is low, Enchant Chest - Minor Intellect and Enchant Bracer - Minor Healing Power can improve a piece you expect to keep. The bracer enchant gives up to 8 healing and 3 spell damage. Light Armor Kit remains an optional early survival upgrade on eligible pieces. Compare it with any existing permanent enhancement before applying it.

Enchant Boots - Minor Speed is worth considering once it is available and affordable: spending less time running between pulls can matter more than a small stat gain. Check your other movement bonuses first. The Leveling and Endgame Gear sections include the full level-60 enchant checklist. Save those expensive upgrades for later.

Early healing gear worth checking

These are useful options to compare with your current set, not a mandatory shopping list. Useful cloth can be healing gear even if your class can equip heavier armor.

  • Filigreed Pristine Gown — usable at level 15. A cloth chest with Intellect, Spirit, Stamina and a healing bonus. Crafting requires Tailoring 75 and its pattern.
  • Filigreed Pristine Circlet — usable at level 25. A cloth helm with Stamina and a healing bonus, crafted with Tailoring 125 and its pattern.

Both Filigreed pieces bind on pickup. You cannot buy the finished item from the Auction House. Compare the cost of learning Tailoring and acquiring the pattern with your available quest and dungeon gear. Do not change profession solely for a small temporary upgrade.

Healer's Staff — a healing and mana-regeneration weapon offered by the Excavation Site: Wetlands quests Earthen Echo and Prehistoric Prism. Their minimum quest level is 24, but plan the run with a group ready for the dungeon. Compare the staff with your entire current weapon and off-hand setup.

Level Walkthrough

Choose a level bracket for class milestones, dungeon options and useful rewards. The bracket tabs here are separate from the main Default, Leveling and Endgame build variants. Dungeon ranges describe the content, not a guarantee that a new healer can safely clear it at the lowest listed level.

Talent milestone levels assume your first point is earned at 10. If you have the Talented Legacy perk, follow the same point order at your earlier unlock levels. Trainer spells and class quests still have their own requirements. Finish quest prerequisites before traveling and treat loot as an optional upgrade, never a guaranteed reward.

Stat Priority

Healing stats

Compare healing bonuses, Intellect, Spirit and other mana regeneration while keeping enough Stamina to survive. Spirit supports sustained healing through your Restoration talents. A larger mana pool helps during heavy healing. Regeneration helps you last through longer fights.

Match your set to the assignment: steady HoT coverage, direct tank healing and repeated group recovery create different mana demands. Rejuvenation can critically heal in Forever, but that alone does not establish a universal critical-chance priority. Avoid importing fixed stat weights from another version of WoW.

What the stats do

  • Healing bonuses: increase supported heals according to each spell's scaling. A bonus is not added in full to every tick or every target. Judge the upgrade by the healing you can actually use, not just the character-sheet number.
  • Intellect: increases your mana pool and contributes to spell critical chance. A larger pool gives you room for emergencies. It does not replace regeneration during a long fight.
  • Spirit: supports mana regeneration. Your specialization's regeneration talent allows part of that recovery to continue during sustained casting. Its value depends on your talents, fight length and time spent casting.
  • Mana per 5 seconds (MP5): supplies continuing mana recovery, including while casting. Compare it with the healing or Intellect you give up on the same item.
  • Critical chance: improves the chance of eligible critical heals and related talent effects. Plan urgent healing around a normal result. A critical heal can also overheal.
  • Stamina and armor: help you survive. Armor reduces physical damage, while Stamina gives you more health against all damage types. Positioning and mechanics still matter.
  • Damage stats: weapon damage, Strength, Agility and offensive hit are questing considerations. They don't improve the reliability of your heals.

From leveling to raids

  • During levels 1–30, prioritize a comfortable mana pool and survival while taking clear healing upgrades. Keep useful damage gear for questing between groups.
  • During 31–60, reassess mana use as deeper healing talents and group spells arrive. Avoid spending mana on group heals when a small direct heal would be enough.
  • At 60, balance healing output with enough regeneration for your assignment. Review how the set performs over an entire fight. Fight length, overhealing and cooldown use all affect which stats you need.

Choosing spell ranks: ranks far below your level receive less benefit from healing bonuses and have a reduced chance to activate class abilities and talents. Compare both the mana cost and healing amount. The cheapest rank isn't always the most efficient.

At 3/3, Reflection allows 50% of your Spirit-based mana regeneration to continue while casting. This depends on the talent ranks you have taken. It is not a baseline benefit shared equally by every healer.

Consumables

Leveling supplies: what to buy first

Spend gold on useful spell ranks, water and bag space first. These buffs are optional improvements, not a requirement for healing your first dungeon.

  • From level 5: Minor Mageblood Elixir provides 3 mana every 5 seconds for 30 minutes. Use it for longer sessions if the price is reasonable.
  • From level 20: Minor Mana Oil provides 5 mana every 5 seconds and up to 10 extra healing for 30 minutes. Apply it to an eligible weapon.
  • From level 40: Lesser Mana Oil upgrades those bonuses to 10 mana every 5 seconds and up to 20 healing. Compare its cost with the Minor version before replacing it.
  • Throughout leveling: carry water appropriate to your level, usable mana and healing potions, and food with a useful Well Fed effect. Replace recovery items as better ranks become usable.
  • At 60: move to the healing and mana buffs below as recipes and supplies become available. Do not pay raid-consumable prices for every leveling pull.

Consumables for leveling and endgame

Start with the leveling supplies below. The recovery items and stronger healing buffs are for level-60 dungeons and raids. Buy what you need for the encounter and what you can afford.

Recovery and emergencies

  • Major Mana Potion — your standard top-rank mana potion at level 60. Use it while enough mana is missing to avoid wasting recovery. Keep it accessible before you go OOM (out of mana).
  • Major Healing Potion — your top-rank standard healing potion. Carry it for personal emergencies. Healing, mana and healing-power potions can share a cooldown, so choose the one you need for the pull.
  • Conjured Crystal Water — high-level Mage water for drinking between pulls. Carry enough for a full session and recovery after deaths.
  • Heavy Runecloth Bandage — the highest rank in the standard bandage progression. Use during a safe window: incoming damage interrupts bandaging. Confirm that any special bandage recipes are obtainable before planning to use them.

Additional mana recovery: runes

Dark Rune and Demonic Rune each restore 900–1500 mana at the cost of 600–1000 health. Use a rune after spending enough mana to benefit from it and only when your health can safely cover the cost. Avoid it immediately before dangerous incoming damage.

Demonic Rune is bind-on-pickup, so you must obtain your own. Dark Rune can be traded. Treat them as alternatives and check their shared cooldowns in the current client. Carry mana potions as well, and do not plan around using both rune types back-to-back.

Healing and mana buffs

  • Sage's Tea — a high-tier healing drink granting 44 Healing Power. Drink for at least 10 seconds to gain its 15-minute Well Fed effect. At level 60, choose your food for healing stats rather than kill XP.
  • Greater Mageblood Elixir — the highest Mageblood rank, granting 20 mana every 5 seconds for 30 minutes.
  • Greater Cleric's Elixir — use the Greater rank for a healing-focused elixir at 60 rather than a starter Intellect elixir.
  • Elixir of the Owl or Elixir of the Whale — higher-level alternatives for Intellect or Spirit with critical chance. Choose the buff that suits your healing needs, and check which effects can stack.
  • Major Mender's Potion — the highest Mender rank, giving a temporary healing-power boost when available. It is not a health-restoration potion. Decide whether you need that boost more than a mana or emergency healing potion.
  • Brilliant Mana Oil — a high-tier weapon oil for mana regeneration and healing when its recipe and supply are available. Check weapon and temporary-enchant compatibility before applying it.
  • Flask of Distilled Wisdom — a flask that increases your mana pool for demanding content. Compare its cost and current buff restrictions with your ordinary setup. A flask is not required for every dungeon.

Encounter preparation

Bring the Greater rank of the protection potion required by the encounter, such as Greater Fire Protection Potion for relevant fire damage. Bring the resistance supplies needed for the encounter. Include resurrection reagents required by your trained rank unless your active Legacy perk removes that cost. Check current tooltips and exclusions before combining supplies.

Situational utility potions

Carry these when the encounter calls for them. A utility potion can delay your mana or healing potion, so choose before the pull which effect matters most.

  • Swiftness Potion — usable from level 5. Increases run speed by 50% for 15 seconds, useful for repositioning or escaping danger.
  • Free Action Potion — usable from level 20. Prevents Stun and Movement Impairing effects for 30 seconds. Use it before an applicable effect. It does not remove one already on you.
  • Restorative Potion — usable from level 32. Removes one magic, curse, poison or disease effect from you every 5 seconds for 30 seconds. It is personal recovery, not a replacement for group dispels.
  • Limited Invulnerability Potion — usable from level 45. Protects against physical attacks for 6 seconds. It does not provide general protection against magic damage.
  • Living Action Potion — usable from level 47. Removes existing Stun and Movement Impairing effects and grants 5 seconds of immunity. Consider it once its recipe and supply are available.

Professions

For your first healer, Herbalism and Alchemy work well together. Gather herbs as you travel, craft mana potions and buffs, and sell what you don't need. Choose professions for the activities you enjoy and the cost on your realm.

  • Alchemy: mana potions and useful buffs support long healing sessions. Buy supplies when the craft costs more than the finished item. Ordinary healing potions are made with First Aid in Forever, so do not choose Alchemy solely for those.
  • Herbalism: supplies Alchemy and can fund training. Take convenient nodes. A long detour can erase the value of a small herb pickup.
  • Engineering with Mining: an alternative if you want crafted utility items and can afford to level it. Check each item's profession requirement before choosing the profession for one device. Healing remains your first responsibility during dangerous pulls.
  • Enchanting: can turn unwanted equipment into materials and provide equipment upgrades. You can normally buy another player's enchanting service. Choosing Enchanting is not a requirement to receive an enchant.
  • Tailoring, Leatherworking or Blacksmithing: compare specific equippable crafts with your quest rewards. Do not assume a profession is mandatory because your class can wear its armor. Avoid an expensive skill grind for a piece you will replace quickly.
  • Gathering for gold: two gathering professions are a good starting choice if you prefer buying your consumables. Compare local demand and the time spent collecting materials.

Secondary professions

  • First Aid: learn it alongside your primary professions. Bandages restore health without using mana, and Forever adds healing potions and remedies. Incoming damage interrupts bandaging, so use it when the target is safe from further hits. Check curative tooltips for restrictions.
  • Cooking: turn gathered meat into food and maintain an appropriate Well Fed effect. Carry drinking water separately: eating for health is not the same as restoring your healing mana.
  • Fishing: a convenient source of cooking ingredients if you enjoy it. You don't need it to follow this guide.

Camping for group preparation

Sit or craft at a safe campsite for at least one minute to receive its benefits. A basic camp supports three features, with one contribution per player. Choose buffs your group is missing rather than duplicating existing class buffs.

  • Mana Well — mana regeneration. Does not stack with Blessing of Wisdom.
  • Incense Candle — Intellect. Does not stack with Arcane Intellect.
  • Faction Banner — Spirit. Does not stack with Divine Spirit.
  • Fish Bowl — 8% increased stats. Does not stack with Blessing of Kings.
  • Camp Chair — 2% critical chance. Does not stack with Moonkin Aura.
  • First Aid Kit — Stamina. Does not stack with Power Word: Fortitude.
  • Enchanted Lute — armor, stats and resistances. Does not stack with Mark of the Wild.

Level-dependent camp bonuses scale with the recipient. Higher-tier camps offer more feature slots or crafting conveniences. You do not need to craft every feature yourself to benefit from a group camp.

As a Druid, keep Mark of the Wild active. An Enchanted Lute is not an extra layer of the same defensive and stat buffs.

Campire Buffs

A Basic Campfire Kit supports three features. Initial profession features begin at skill 20. Spend at least one minute sitting or crafting at a safe campsite to receive nearby feature benefits. Mana Well supplies mana regeneration, Incense Candle supplies Intellect and Enchanted Lute supplies defensive and stat buffs. Their buffs overlap with Blessing of Wisdom, Arcane Intellect and Mark of the Wild respectively. Duplicate class buffs do not stack.

Suggested Races

For raiding, our Alliance choices are High Order Skyborne for mana recovery and faster casts, or Night Elf for planned burst healing. On Horde, we recommend Windshaper Skyborne.

Alliance

High Order Skyborne

Choose High Order Skyborne when you value sustained healing and another mana-recovery tool. Wind Blessed gives 2% passive haste for faster casts. Read Leyline increases Health and Mana regeneration by 50% for 15 seconds. Using it at a Ley Line grants Attuned for 1 hour, raising that regeneration bonus to 100%. Attuned persists through death.

Use Read Leyline separately from Innervate: it cannot be activated while Innervate is active, and Innervate replaces it as the stronger effect. Attuned strengthens the 15-second use. It does not give an hour of continuous regeneration. Haste also does not automatically increase every HoT's healing by 2%.

Night Elf

Choose Night Elf when you want a healing cooldown for predictable raid damage. Elune's Light gives 10% additional critical chance for 15 seconds on a 3-minute cooldown. Line it up with heavy damage to strengthen your burst-healing window. Quickness also helps you move between positions. This favors timed burst over Skyborne's separate mana-recovery tool.

Horde

Windshaper Skyborne

We recommend Windshaper Skyborne on Horde for faster casts and movement utility. Wind Blessed gives 2% passive haste, shortening Healing Touch and Regrowth casts when you need direct healing alongside your HoTs. The value is in faster responses and casting time saved. Do not treat it as 2% extra healing on every HoT.

Skysight helps you handle movement mechanics and return to your healing position sooner. It gives 15% movement speed for 15 seconds, or 30% while Charged. Using it at an elemental convergence grants Charged for 1 hour, persisting through death. This Horde race has Skysight rather than the Alliance High Order Skyborne's Read Leyline, so it does not provide that extra mana-regeneration cooldown.

Tips & Tricks

Before your first dungeon

  • Equip your healing set and train the useful heal ranks available at your level.
  • Show every party member on your frames. Bind your main heal, emergency heal and available dispel or interrupt. Test mouseover targeting before the first pull.
  • Bring current-level water and recovery supplies. Tell the tank when you need a drink break, and begin drinking as soon as combat safely ends.
  • Check line of sight (LoS) and healing range. Stand where you can reach the tank without walking into the next pack.

Druid class quests

  • Bear Form, 10: Night Elves and Tauren begin with Heeding the Call through their Darnassus or Thunder Bluff trainers. Skyborne use The Great Ursera Spirit on Zephras Isle.
  • Cure Poison, 14: look for Lessons Anew and the Power over Poison chain. The traditional Night Elf and Tauren routes begin in their capital cities.
  • Aquatic Form, 16: look for A Lesson to Learn through your class trainer. Keep the quest log instructions available before beginning the travel steps.
  • Cat Form, 20: Night Elves and Tauren use The Great Cat Spirit. Skyborne use The Great Windborne Cat Spirit in Moonglade. Speak with Dendrite Starblaze, who sends Skyborne to the Avatar of Saeyleenan in southern Moonglade. In Forever this form has a quest, so do not assume visiting a trainer alone unlocks it.

Follow your race's starting quest for the correct route, especially on Skyborne. Finish the unlock quests before planning a rotation that depends on their rewards.

Dungeon checklist

  • Check your healing set after solo quests. Forms do not replace appropriate healing gear.
  • Keep Mark of the Wild active and carry Rebirth reagents for your trained rank unless Reagent Economy removes the requirement.
  • Track the whole party. Protect the tank without ignoring a teammate in immediate danger.
  • Train spell upgrades regularly, and check your new spells and talents at 20, 25 and 30.
  • Keep emergency buttons accessible and move toward the tank if you get aggro.

Optional mouseover heal

Cast on a living friendly mouseover first, otherwise your friendly target, otherwise yourself. Replace the spell name to use the same targeting pattern for another heal.

#showtooltip Healing Touch
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Healing Touch

This casts the highest learned rank unless you specify another rank. Test it on party frames before a difficult pull. Localized clients require localized spell names.

At level 40 and beyond

Follow the Leveling variant for the 31–60 healing talent order. Use Endgame for level-60 dungeon and raid healing. Dual Specialization is available at 40 if you want a separate questing setup.

Efficient dungeon leveling

  • Gather the dungeon's relevant quests and complete prerequisites before traveling. Choose runs that complete your quests or offer several useful upgrades.
  • Keep your party at an appropriate level and tell the tank when you need to drink. Repeated wipes, long travel and waiting for replacements can make a difficult dungeon slower than questing.
  • Dungeon XP has changed during the beta. Decide whether to repeat a run based on its XP, quests, gear upgrades and travel time, rather than following a strict one-run rule.
  • Between groups, quest with a partner where possible. If you want to prioritize solo speed, use the class leveling guide linked in the Default and Leveling variants and return here for your healing setup.

Trainer priorities while leveling

At each trainer visit, buy the spells that support your current role first. A talent-granted spell still requires its talent investment. Avoid delaying an important healing or utility unlock to fund a small gear upgrade.

  • Keep Healing Touch, Rejuvenation and Regrowth ranks appropriate for your level. Train group-healing spells as they become available.
  • Prioritize Remove Curse, poison removal, Rebirth and Mark of the Wild. Complete the class quests needed for your forms and utility.
  • Spend on damage and form abilities according to your questing route. Do not buy every unused damage rank before essential healing training, water and bags.

Mouseover healing and dispels

Each macro below first uses a living friendly mouseover, then your living friendly target, then yourself. Use one macro per spell. A valid mouseover that is out of range does not fall through to another target.

Rejuvenation

#showtooltip Rejuvenation
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Rejuvenation

Remove Curse

#showtooltip Remove Curse
/cast [@mouseover,help,nodead][help,nodead][@player] Remove Curse

These examples use your highest learned rank. Add a rank only if you deliberately want it, using the name in your spellbook. Localized clients require localized spell names. Test targeting, range and dead targets on your frames before relying on a macro in a dungeon.

Spell Overview

These are your main healing, utility and survival spells from leveling through level 60. Train baseline spells and new ranks as they unlock. Talented spells require the appropriate build.

Direct heals and HoTs

  • Healing Touch: your large direct heal. Choose a rank that heals enough for the incoming damage. Precast before predictable hits, and cancel the cast if the target no longer needs it.
  • Rejuvenation: an instant heal over time. Apply it before continued damage or movement, and let useful ticks land. Clipping the HoT by refreshing it early can waste mana and ticks the target could still use.
  • Regrowth: combines an initial heal with a HoT. It is useful when both parts will contribute. Compare its cost with a direct Healing Touch or Rejuvenation alone.
  • Swiftmend: an instant heal for a target with Rejuvenation or Regrowth. Forever no longer consumes the eligible HoT. Keep the effect active on a player likely to need an emergency heal. Wild Growth alone does not enable Swiftmend.
  • Nature's Swiftness: use it with Healing Touch for an instant emergency heal. You still need mana for the heal.

Group healing and recovery cooldowns

  • Wild Growth: target a party or raid member to place its HoT on that player's party, including pets. Choose the subgroup needing healing. It does not automatically select the most injured players across the entire raid. Its high cost makes repeated low-value use expensive.
  • Gift of the Earthmother: reduces the global cooldown by 0.5 seconds for Rejuvenation, Swiftmend and Wild Growth. This does not accelerate HoT ticks, reduce Regrowth cast time or remove individual spell cooldowns.
  • Tranquility: a channeled group heal. Stand somewhere safe and use it when several allies need healing. Moving or being interrupted cuts the channel short.
  • Innervate: a mana cooldown for you or another mana user. Agree who needs it, and use it before they go OOM (out of mana).

Dispels, buffs and resurrection

  • Remove Curse: remove a dangerous curse when safe. Cure Poison / Abolish Poison: handle poison, with Abolish Poison continuing to remove poison over its duration. Druids do not gain a general friendly magic or disease dispel from these spells.
  • Mark of the Wild: maintain the group buff and reapply it after deaths. Check camp buff exclusions before expecting extra stacking stats.
  • Thorns: a useful tank buff when attackers will trigger it. Apply it before the pull rather than spending an emergency healing global on routine upkeep.
  • Revive: the standard out-of-combat resurrection added in Forever. Use it for routine recovery.
  • Rebirth: combat resurrection. Choose a safe player and resurrection location, communicate the plan, and keep the reagent required by your learned rank unless your active perk removes that requirement.

Control, forms and survival

  • Entangling Roots: control a susceptible enemy where the spell is usable. Damage can break the effect. Coordinate it with the tank and DPS.
  • Hibernate: situational control for eligible creature types. Mark the controlled target and avoid breaking it with incidental damage.
  • Faerie Fire: provides an offensive debuff when your assignment and mana allow. Do not delay a lifesaving heal to refresh routine utility.
  • Barkskin: use your defensive before heavy incoming damage once learned. Make personal survival part of the healing plan.
  • Travel Form / Cat Form / Bear Form: useful for travel, questing or survival. Leave forms when you need to heal, and remember that repeated shifting costs mana. This guide's talents remain a Restoration healing build.

Omen of Clarity — learned at 20 without spending a talent point. Track Clearcasting and use a free heal when it will be effective. Wrath does not consume the proc. A proc is an opportunity to save mana, not a reason to delay urgently needed healing.

Once Wild Growth is talented, Clearcasting can pay for it when several members of the selected party need healing. Keep a direct heal available for immediate danger. A free HoT is not a reason to delay a lifesaving heal.

Healer UI

Use EllesmereUI for your interface layout and Grid for party and raid frames. Keep health, debuffs and important mechanics easy to see while leaving space around your character.

  1. Place your frames: arrange your interface in EllesmereUI and your party/raid frames in Grid's options. Keep party or raid frames near the center of your screen without covering your character or the ground around your feet. Use a layout you can read during movement.
  2. Show actionable information: make health deficits, mana, debuffs you can remove and out-of-range players easy to distinguish. For raids, preserve subgroup information when your healing depends on party membership.
  3. Bind healing and utility: put your main heal, quick heal, emergency cooldown and dispel on comfortable keys. Use mouseover macros or your preferred supported click-casting configuration so healing does not require repeated target changes.
  4. Configure tracking: search Options for Cooldown Manager, enable it, then move its displays through Edit Mode. Show the spells and trinkets you actually use. Keep an action-bar icon available for anything the manager does not expose reliably.
  5. Keep the encounter visible: enable useful enemy cast bars and nameplates. Avoid filling the middle of the screen with meters or duplicate warnings.
  6. Test before grouping: check friendly mouseover, hostile target, no target, movement, range and a dead target. A valid mouseover that is out of range does not automatically select a different player for you.

Watch your mana between pulls

Keep your mana bar easy to see and tell the tank when you need to drink. Track mana cooldowns and consumables alongside your healing cooldowns. Use healing meters to review deaths, overhealing and your assignment. Don't just chase HPS (healing per second).

Track these for your specialization

  • Your Rejuvenation and Regrowth duration on assigned targets, plus Swiftmend readiness.
  • Wild Growth and Tranquility. Distinguish your HoTs from other Druids' effects when your frames support it.
  • Nature's Swiftness, Innervate, Rebirth and Barkskin, plus curse and poison effects you can remove.

Recommended Addons

My recommended setup is EllesmereUI + Grid. Together, they cover the main interface and healing-frame needs for this guide.

EllesmereUI

Use EllesmereUI for your overall interface layout. Keep your action bars, player and target information, and important displays easy to read without covering your character or the ground around your feet.

Grid (Grid2)

Use the WoW Forever version of Grid2 for compact party and raid frames. Make health, range and debuffs easy to read, then add indicators for the heals and buffs you actually need to track. Start with a simple layout and test it in a group.

Keep the setup simple

Use Grid as your main party/raid-frame display and avoid showing duplicate frames. Choose builds marked for WoW Forever, keep your profiles backed up, and test your layout and healing binds before entering a dungeon or raid. This pair should cover most of what you need. Focus on making it readable rather than adding more tools.

Changelog

October 28 — Version 1

WoW Forever Changes

  • Swiftmend arrives earlier in the talent tree and no longer consumes its supporting HoT.
  • Gift of the Earthmother reduces the global cooldown of key instant heals. Wild Growth heals the targeted player's party.
  • Revive lets you resurrect allies between fights.

Omen of Clarity is baseline from level 20. Clearcasting can make your next heal free, and Wrath does not consume the proc. Watch for the buff, but don't delay a needed heal while waiting for a proc.

Use the Guide Variants section to select your talents, gear and gameplay advice. These recommendations reflect the current beta and will be updated as tuning and item discoveries continue.

Additional Information

This healing build finishes at 11/7/33 and takes Wild Growth at 40. Improved Regrowth requires 25 points in Restoration and Improved Rejuvenation 3/3. Complete Living Spirit 3/3 before Wild Growth.

Why these secondary trees

Nature's Splendor extends Rejuvenation and Regrowth. Genesis and Nature's Majesty improve healing, while Moonglow and Nature's Reach help your damage as you work toward Splendor. Moonglow does not reduce healing costs. Heart of the Wild increases your Intellect, and Feral Swiftness improves Cat Form travel, including indoors.

This build leaves out Tranquil Spirit and Improved Tranquility to reach Splendor and movement utility. It is a healing build for leveling, rather than a solo speed-leveling build.

Why this talent order

10–19: Nature's Focus protects key casts from damage pushback. Naturalist improves Healing Touch and also helps your damage between groups.

20–26: take Gift of the Earthmother, then increase your healing with Gift of Nature while reaching Swiftmend at 25. Swiftmend gives you an instant heal for emergencies alongside your HoTs.

27–30: Reflection supports regeneration during casting. Nature's Swiftness supplies another emergency option at 30.

Talent levels and Legacy perks

The listed levels assume you don't have the Talented Legacy perk: your first talent point is at 10, with 21 points by 30. Talented can unlock points up to five levels earlier. If you have it, follow the same point order at your earlier unlock levels. Trainer spells and class quests still have their own requirements.

Your first character can start earning Legacy points at 25, or through qualifying profession and exploration achievements. A new account won't have these perks fully upgraded. Reagent Economy can remove purchasable spell reagents. Otherwise carry the reagent required by your trained spell rank.

Follow this build if you regularly heal groups or quest with a partner. The tree shows the finished level-60 build. Spend points in the order below as you level. Use Default for levels 1–30 and check Tips & Tricks for class quests. The listed levels assume you don't have the Talented Legacy perk.

When to invest

  • While leveling, buy essential spell ranks, water and bag space before costly profession projects.
  • At 60, identify the exact recipes or devices you want, price their materials, and compare crafting with buying. Don't choose a profession solely because it was strong in an older version of Classic.
