How to Play Timebreaker — TFT Set 17: Space Gods

Timebreaker is a unique trait to TFT as it mixes the idea of gaining free rerolls for losses on top of storing XP on wins. While we have had gaining rerolls for losses in augments and even units, this has not been very common in traits. Especially with the wins having the upside of gaining XP.

Let’s take a look at the trait bonus, and then ways we might take advantage of the trait.

This guide was written by Silverfuse.

How TFT Timebreaker Works

Timebreaker Trait Bonus

timebreaker trait

Champions: Ezreal 1g / Milio 2g / Pantheon 2g / Riven 4g

  • (2) When you lose, gain free rerolls. When you win, store XP in a Temporal Core (scales with stage).
  • (3) AND Allies gain 15% Attack Speed.
  • (4) AND Timebreakers gain an additional 50% Attack Speed.

Timebreaker Champions and Synergy

Timebreaker does not have many units, so there are limited options for trait webs

  • Ezreal (1G) - Sniper
  • Milio (2G) - Fateweaver
  • Pantheon (2G) Brawler + Replicator
  • Riven (4G) - Rogue

The Timebreaker Trait

This trait has four units: Ezreal, Milio, Pantheon, and Riven. They are one 1 gold unit and two 2 gold units which means this is incredibly easy to activate in the early game with the first trait web only requiring two of the units. I suspect a lot of players will be using this early as an econ trait.

The other likely option for this trait is using it as an Ezreal reroll trait where you gain free rerolls by sacrificing your early stage while picking up Ezreals, and once you hit your Ezreal 3, you start gaining XP in the Temporal Core to sell it off and level up while capping your board out with Jhin as Legendary sniper.

TFT Timebreaker Champions

Ezreal (1G) - Sniper

Ezreal is a sniper at only 1 cost. His ability Temporal Shot has the active where he fires a blast at the current target that deals AD + AP (AD) physical damage. Every number of takedowns he gains a drone that deals (AD) physical damage to the current target on cast.

Ezreal is likely the primary carry and rerolled to 3 stars in this composition. If you have a lot of Ezreals and a Milio or Pantheon, then look to play this reroll Ezreal composition!

Milio (2G) - Fateweaver

tft set 17 milio

Milio is a 2 gold unit with the ability Ultra Mega Time Kick. He kicks a ball at the enemy that deals (AP) magic damage. On impact, the ball has a 100% chance to bounce to a new target dealing (AP) magic damage. These bounces can trigger additional bounces, but the odds halve with each bounce.

Fateweaver gives the units precision. The trait itself also gives effects lucky which heightens the chance of bounces to trigger.

Pantheon (2G) Brawler + Replicator

tft set 17 pantheon

Pantheon has the ability Advanced Defenses where she gains AP Shield (Health & AP) shield and durability for seconds. Over the duration, deal true damage per a second (AD) physical damage each second to enemies in a cone.

Riven (4G) - Rogue

tft set 17 riven

[Link to Champion Page]

Riven has the ability Time Warp. She has the passive ability where this ability adapts to Riven’s attack damage or ability power - whichever is higher. Attacks deal passive damage in AP or AD depending on which is higher.

With her active, she dashes to a nearby hex, gaining shield and slashing adjacent enemies for damage. Every third cast, leap into the air and launch a wave of energy that deals damage to enemies in a line.

I always love when Riot adds versatile champions like this that have AP and AD option as you are not item locked and have more flexibility than most other units when you have units like Riven.

How to Play Timebreaker

As stated earlier, you want to play this when you have a number of Ezreals and can play the Timebreaker trait early. You will want to play a weak, early game board so you get losses to ensure that you get additional free rerolls. You will not want to level at all as you will want to stay low level in order to reroll for Ezreals.

After the stage 2 pve round, you will want to roll down picking up all the Ezreals you see until either 35 or 25 gold. This will depend on the number of Ezreals you hit and if you were contested. Once you hit 8 Ezreals, generally you will want to send it down until you hit your 3 star Ezreal because this is a huge power spike and helps your Ezreal scale with his ability where he gains drones based on his takedowns.

Once you have your Ezreal 3, you will want to win rounds and start gaining XP to level up to 8 and 9 quickly to start capping out your composition.
