PoE2 Crafting Guide

Crafting in Path of Exile 2 can seem overwhelming at first, but once you understand a few core systems it becomes much easier. This guide covers the fundamentals, the most important currencies, where to find crafting information, and several reliable crafting strategies you can use to make currency.

Crafting Basics

Item Rarity

Every item belongs to one of four rarities:

• Normal
• Magic
• Rare
• Unique

Each rarity uses different crafting currencies. Once an item becomes Rare, it cannot be reverted back into a Magic item.

Prefixes & Suffixes

Rare items normally have:

• Up to 3 Prefixes
• Up to 3 Suffixes

Each modifier always belongs to one category. For example, Resistances are always suffixes while Maximum Life is always a prefix.

Learning which modifiers belong to which side is one of the most important crafting fundamentals.

Item Level

Item Level determines which modifier tiers can appear.

Higher item levels unlock stronger affixes. Most endgame crafting is performed on item level 82+ bases since this allows every Tier 1 modifier to roll.

Base Items

The base item determines which modifiers are available and what implicit stats the item has.

Choosing the correct base is often more important than the crafting itself.

Essential Currencies

Normal & Magic Items

• Orb of Transmutation

These currencies are used to create your initial Rare item.

Rare Items

The currencies you'll use most often are:

• Exalted Orb – Adds a modifier

Weighting is simply the relative chance of rolling a modifier.

Always start with the correct base.

Generally you want:

• Highest defensive base
• Useful implicit
• Item Level 82+

Beginner Profit Strategy

One of the simplest crafting methods is the "numbers game."

1. Buy several strong bases.
2. Fill prefixes with perfect transmutation & augmentation
3. 1. Here you have a high chance of hitting a good modifier.
3. Fill remaining suffixes and one prefix with an essence and exalted orb.
4. Finish with Desecration.
5. Sell every usable result.

Most items won't be amazing, but occasionally you'll hit very valuable combinations that pay for all previous attempts.

Advanced Amulet Crafting

Most High-end amulets usually follow the same pattern:

1. Fracture one valuable modifier.
2. Chaos spam the second core modifier.
3. Force prefixes or suffixes with Omens.
4. Add Quality using Essences.
5. Finish with Desecrated modifiers.
6. Remove bad outcomes using Omen of Light.

This deterministic approach is used for many mirror-worthy amulets.

Jewel Crafting

Jewels are among the most profitable items to craft.

A typical strategy is:

• Fracture one strong modifier
• Chaos spam another
• Add an extra suffix with Liquid Contempt
• Finish suffixes using Desecrations
• Fill out with random prefixes using exalted orbs
• Chaos spam prefixes
• Finish with a crafted modifier

The same process works for most jewel types.

Weapon Crafting

Weapons are slightly different because powerful rune interactions allow multiple crafted modifiers.

• Add crafted modifiers
• Finish with Desecration

Important Omens

Some of the most useful Omens include:

• Omen of Light
• All the other desecration omens
