Overview

The Rise of the Abyssal league mechanic for Path of Exile 2's 0.3 update has introduced a modified version of the Lich ascendancy: the Abyssal Lich!

What's new?

The Abyssal Lich is a modified version of the existing Lich ascendancy for the Witch. The artwork gets a new lick of paint featuring a green hue, and some of the existing notables are replaced with new ones!

New Nodes

Three of the existing Notables on the Lich ascendancy have been replaced on the Abyssal Lich to make way for the new theme of the class.

Umbral Well

Umbral Well replaces Necromantic Conduit

'Skeletal Minions you would create instead grant you Umbral Souls for each Minion you would have created'

This new Notable provides buffs in place of the Skeletal Minions you would have summoned:

  • Skeletal Warriors grant 15% increased Attack Damage
  • Skeletal Snipers grant 15% increased Projectile Speed
  • Skeletal Clerics grant 30% increased Energy Shield Recharge Rate
  • Skeletal Arsonists grant 15% increased Area of Effect
  • Skeletal Storm Mages grant 25% increased Spell Damage
  • Skeletal Frost Mages grant 35% increased maximum Energy Shield
  • Skeletal Brutes grant 60% increased Stun buildup
  • Skeletal Reavers grant 6% increased Skill Speed

Unwilling Offering

Unwilling Offering replaces Blackened Heart

'Your Offerings can target Enemies in Culling range'

'Your Offerings affect you instead of your Minions'

'Offerings created by Culling Enemies have 1% increased Effect per Power of Culled Enemy'

This new Notable allows you to use Offering Skills on Monsters as long as they're in Cull range. It also makes the buffs provided by Offering Skills apply to you instead of your Minions. Lastly, you can improve the effects of these buffs by using the Offering Skills on powerful Monsters, such as Rares or even Unique Bosses, to benefit from their heightened Monster Power.

Steward of Kulemak

Steward of Kulemak replaces Price of Power

'Grants Skill: Abyssal Apparition'

'Damaging Spells consume a Power Charge if able to trigger Abyssal Apparition'

This new Notable grants a new Skill that consumes a Power Charge upon using a Spell to create an apparition that uses the same Spell for a period of time.

How to become an Abyssal Lich

To have the option of becoming an Abyssal Lich, you must be a Witch and already be ascended into a Lich. You'll then need to obtain Kulemak's Invitation by defeating Abyssal Bosses at the end of Abyss encounters. Kulemak's Invitation can be taken to the Well of Souls, providing a new option, allowing you to jump in. Surely nothing can go wrong...

Tip: you can find the entrance to the Well of Souls in the Mastodon Badlands in Act 2. Once you've been to the Well of Souls, you can access it via a Waypoint by clicking the icon on the right.
