Build Overview

This build takes advantage of the incredibly strong Forced Outcome paired with Cast on Critical linked with Comet to dish out absolutely insane damage. We use Spark which procs CoC a ton since it does high damage and shoots a lot of projectiles. In theory though, you can use any spell in the game. In order to deal with the heavy mana cost of a CoC setup, we take a bloodmage-esque approach, converting all of our mana cost to life with the Lifetap support and then sustaining said life with leech via The Covenant chest piece. We anoint Fast Metabolism for our leech to feel very comfy, and we grab a Heart of the Well with 10-15% of leech is instant, so we effectively have infinite life. In order to not constantly kill ourselves, and because mana is no longer how we spend our skills, we take Mind Over Matter so that mana becomes our defensive layer. We then stack a ton of mana to scale what is effectively our new HP and Archmage

This build requires a ton of spirit since we need to use Archmage Cast on Critical Mana Remnants and Siphon Elements. Siphon Elements is technically optional, the main reason we use it is to generate cold infusions upon freezing enemies while mapping so our Spark does additional damage. This is only relevant if you're actually freezing via your clear skill, which can easily be done with Embitter. We require a total of 228 spirit, achieved via Alpha's Howl corrupted with 120 spirit, 4% from Profane Commander and Efficient Inscriptions. Make sure you max quality Archmage and Cast on Critical as that reduces their spirit cost. You can also get spirit on the amulet and you don't have to get a perfect Alpha's Howl, but spirit amulets can be expensive. You technically could also get 60 spirit on an amulet and use a Against the Darkness with 'Notable Passive Skills in Radius Grant +12 Spirit' and find somewhere to put it where you can get 5 Notables in range. This would allow you to get 120 total spirit and then you could use a normal helmet with high mana or The Vertex (equipment) with +3-4 all skills. This is significantly more expensive to do though. Ventor's Gamble is also an option to help get a bit of spirit, and rarity, at the cost of mana.

Strengths and Weaknesses

  • Insanely High Damage
  • Everything is frozen + high max hit = tanky
  • Cost Prohibitive

Build Variants

Only use this setup if your damage is high

Effectively the same build, just have support gems swapped around to enable Elemental Weakness to be our primary clear skill. In this setup you lose some boss DPS because you no longer want Elemental Weakness in weapon set 2, but you compensate a bit by using Rakiata's Flow in Cast on Critical. You want to make sure to not curse bosses so that Rakiata's Flow gets max value. This will nerf your Spark trigger rate specifically on bosses, but if your damage is high enough your first few comets will instantly kill the boss anyways.

Kalandra's Touch is optional, but if you get a good breach ring preferably with all res, it's more cost efficient to use it and it should give you a good baseline of total resistances

Try to get Alpha's Howl corrupted with +120 spirit and as much cold res as possible

Try to get a resist corrupt on your Headhunter. Headhunter is optional, you could also use an Ingenuity or simply a normal belt with resistances + mana to make your gearing easier.

None of the resistances for the other gear is specific, just try to cap them as well as you can while getting as much ES/Mana as possible. Keep in mind ES values are effectively the same as mana values since it gets converted via Eldritch Battery. So a pair of gloves with 200 ES + 100 mana is the same as a 300 ES pair.

For sockets just fill out your resistances, and if you have extra sockets then use Greater Mind Rune or Iron Rune depending on the piece.

Make sure your The Covenant has spell damage leeched as life. In a perfect world, you also want it to have increased life cost efficiency, and you want the "Skills gain a Base Life Cost equal to 100% of base mana cost" to not be on the item. This however makes it very expensive, so until you can afford that just get a normal one with the aforementioned stats.

I replaced Concentrated Area with Spell Cascade. This feels better for mapping and looks cool, overall provides slightly less boss dps but in truth bosses die instantly regardless.

I'm optimizing movement speed in my skill tree with Vaal Pact From Nothing and taking movement speed nodes. This is optional, you could instead get a Chaos Inoculation From Nothing and grab nodes such as Invocated Efficiency Pure Chaos Thin Ice andHeavy Frost. If you have extra points, you can grab some additive nodes around Sigil of Lightning

10-15% of leech is instant on a Heart of the Well is mandatory

If you want your CoC to trigger more, you can replace crit chance / spell damage / trigerred spell damage on your jewels with 'meta skills gain increased energy'

How it Plays

Easy to play, just press Spark or Elemental Weakness (if using that setup) while mapping. If you come across a tanky elite, use Frost Wall on them, and Flame Wall to proc Archon.

On bosses you want to apply a curse if using the Spark variant, but for the Elemental Weakness variant do not apply a curse as that will nerf your CoC damage via Rakiata's Flow. Then use Flame Wall -> Frost Wall - > Spark spamming. If the boss doesn't instantly die, use another Frost Wall. Frost Bomb is useful for additional exposure if playing the standard Spark variant
