Build Overview

Here's my guide for my OG Lightning Spear Invoker League Starter and Endgame Build for Patch 0.4 The Last of the Druids!

I use the Invoker Ascendancy to grant us EZ Elemental Penetration thanks to Sunder my Enemies... and TONS of Spirit thanks to Lead me through Grace.... We also get to start on one of the best Passive Tree areas allowing us to stack tons of Energy Shield, Evasion, and Critical Hit Chance which is PERFECT for Lightning Spear and Explosive Spear. You can play this build on your Class of choice though.

We use Lightning Spear to SCREEN CLEAR by using Embitter to allow us to Freeze enemies and activate Herald of Ice. We'll also shock enough to also activate Herald of Thunder to further boost our clear. Our Lightning Spear gets AMPED with Frenzy Charges that we get from Armour Break III + Resonance and some tech with Fury of the Mountain. Be sure to either watch my explanation or check out this Video Explanation Here.

Our bossing is handled by Frenzy Amped Explosive Spear! You'll generate Frenzy Charges using the Bear Tech listed above which will AMP our Explosive Spear to deal TONS of Damage. When Amped by Frenzy Charges, the Spear will detonate instantly and deal MILLIONS of Damage in one use of the skill!

We'll buff our DPS with Spirit Gems like Eternal Rage and Berserk to have 24/7 Rage. We'll mix in Thunderous Leap with Embitter + Bhatair's Vengeance to Freeze Enemies to Gain 1% of Damage as Cold Damage per Rage. This will allow us to Freeze a little more often to proc Herald of Ice.

Our Defenses are bolstered by Ghost Dance to Recover nearly 1K Energy Shield on Hit and Wind Dancer to Boost our Evasion and give us Gale Force to knock back enemies when we're hit. We'll quickly recover our Energy Shield with Meditate which can overflow our Energy Shield to 1.5x its normal value. We also use Chaos Inoculation to make us Immune to Chaos Damage and Bleed. Currently I have 8.3K Energy Shield (With Meditate), 70% Evasion, 68% Deflection (40% DR), and 1K Energy Shield recovered on Hit.

  • +5% to all Elemental Resistances (Interchangeable)
  • 15% Increased Global Defenses (Interchangeable)

Build Variants

You NEED to have Flat Life Regeneration on 1 piece of gear somewhere or else Berserk WILL kill you! I've picked it up on the Helmet but doesn't matter where as long as you have it!

This Variant is a High Investment version of the build that takes advantage of Headhunter for insane mapping speed along with Spirit Reservation Efficiency on the Body Armor and Dialla's Desire. Currently I have 11% Reservation Efficiency and 245 Spirit with 27 Spirit leftover. My Body Armor to achieve this Spirit is 1493 EV 571 ES. We also use an expensive support gem called Garukhan's Resolve to increase our Critical Hit Chance.

You'll use Frenzy Charge Amped Lightning Spear to clear and Freeze Targets thanks to Embitter. This will allow Herald of Ice to proc and explode packs of monsters. Embitter will convert the Fire Damage gained from Sacred Flame into Cold Damage to ensure we Freeze enough to proc our Herald. We'll still have enough Lightning Damage to Shock and activate Herald of Thunder.

We'll boss using Explosive Spear which does HUGE DPS when amped with Frenzy Charges. Simply throw the Spear at the bosses feet once you have Frenzy Charges and watch them evaporate!

You'll gain Frenzy Charges from Armour Break III + Resonance and The Bear Tech (See Here). Essentially, on a second Weapon Set you'll have Fury of the Mountain. This will put you into Bear Form which will grant an Endurance Charge for every 15 Rage you spend. We'll spend Rage by using Rageforged I, Brambleslam, and Branching Fissures II to consume Rage as fast as possible to grant Endurance Charges. We'll convert these Endurance Charges into Frenzy Charges using Resonance. You'll simply tap Fury of the Mountain when mapping/bossing to get Frenzy Charges when Armour Break III + Resonance fails to do so. Please see my video explanation!

Weapon Set 1:

Spear:

You're gonna want a Spear with the Highest Elemental Damage and Critical Hit Chance as possible. Any Element of Damage is fine as I went for a Tri-Flat Damage Spear. Physical and Increased Elemental Damage with Attacks is fine too. Aim for the Highest DPS as possible with at least +4% to Critical Hit Chance and either + Level of Projectile or + Level of Attack Skills. Chance to Gain Onslaught or +% to Critical Damage Bonus is also nice.

Socket with 1 Farrul's Rune of the Hunt and 1 Fenumus' Rune of Agony. This will increase your Rare/Boss DPS and help with Uul-Netol's Embrace Armor Break.

Sceptre:

Use Sacred Flame to give us the Highest Gain Extra Damage as possible. Its also fine to use Guiding Palm of the Eye, Guiding Palm of the Heart, Guiding Palm of the Mind, or Palm of the Dreamer.

Socket with 1 Fox Idol as no other Rune's help here for the build.

Weapon Set 2:

Talisman:

You'll want the Amor Mandragora as this will grant you Druidic Prowess when you spend Rage. This will grant 10% Increased Skill Speed per stack up to 3 stacks (30% Skill Speed Total). Its super cheap and helps with Frenzy Charge generation.

Socket with 1 Guatelitzi's Soul Core of Endurance and 1 Opiloti's Soul Core of Assault to help generate Extra Charges!

Body Armor:

An EV/ES Hybrid Body Armor is the best option here as it offers a moderate amount of ES and EV also while allowing for Deflection or Energy Shield Recharge Rate if wanted. You'll want the highest EV/ES you can get as this increases the Spirit gained through the Lead me through Grace... Ascendancy Node! Socket with Greater Iron Rune.

You can also try to get Increased Spirit Reservation Efficiency from desecration which will reduce the cost of ALL your Spirit Gems. Very expensive to buy/craft but for good reason.

Helmet:

You'll want a pure Energy Shield Helmet as we use the Node Subterfuge Mask. This makes a 400 ES Helmet also grant 800 EV making it one of the best ES/EV Nodes on the entire tree. Go for the highest ES as possible, Critical Hit Chance, Attributes, and any needed Resistances. Squeeze in some Rarity here if possible. Socket with Tzamoto's Soul Core of Ferocity for +4 Max Rage or Greater Iron Rune for more ES.

Be sure to get Life Regeneration on at least 1 piece of gear or else Berserk will kill you. I've elected to get that on the Helmet.

Boots:

An EV/ES, EV, or ES pair of Boots will work. Go for Movement Speed, Deflection, Rarity, Attributes, and any Resistances that you can get. If over capped on Resistances, socket with Farrul's Rune of the Chase.

Amulet:

Any Amulet early on works but I would prefer the Gold Amulet or any Attribute Amulet. Go for % Maximum Energy Shield, % Increased Evasion Rating, Global Defenses, Rarity, Critical Hit Chance, Attributes , and any Resistances that's needed. + Level of Melee Skill is an option if you can handle the Mana consumption that'll increase your DPS a TON!

I've anointed with Jack of all Trades as I have a pretty High even spread of Attributes but feel free to go for something like Stormcharged for more Critical Hit Chance if needed.

Rings:

Use the Rings to fill out any missing Resistances and increase needed Stats.

Go for 2-3 Added Damages to Attack, preferably Cold, Phys, and Lightning. % Increased isn't as strong as flat. Fill out any needed Resistances, Attributes, and make sure to get some Rarity into your build as well. Eventually you'll need at least 1 Unset Ring so plan for that!

Belt:

I like using Headhunter as its the Best mapping Belt in the game. We use Meditate and Ghost Dance to sustain ES so this works pretty well. You can always use Shavronne's Satchel and an Instant Recovery Life Flask if you don't have/like Headhunter!

Jewels:

For Budget Non-Unique Jewels, you can go for Increased Increased Damage with Spears, Increased Attack Speed with Spears, Lightning Damage, Increased Elemental Damage, Increased Critical Hit Chance, Increased Critical Damage Bonus, Increased Attack Speed, Increased Attack Damage, Increased Projectile Damage, etc......

I use the Heart of the Well which can give Gain Extra Damage as Cold, Fire, Lightning, or Chaos for HUGE Damage. Expect to spend BIG for a two line Gain Extra Damage but it makes and insane boost.

I like to use a Time-Lost Sapphire with Critical Hit Chance and place it next to Stupefy to allow all the Nodes around that area to grant us extra bonuses. Not required by would take this at some point since there's so many Notables we take around this Jewel Socket.

The Uber Jewel I will use is a Megalomaniac with an Offensive and Defensive Notable.

I like Defensive Nodes such as Pocket Sand, The Wild Cat, Afterimage, Inner Faith, Patient Barrier, Chakra of Breathing, Enhanced Barrier, Spiral into Depression, Illuminated Crown, Calibration, and Storm Driven.

I like Offensive Nodes such as Javelin, Catalysis, Stormcharged, Harness the Elements, Stormbreaker, Overwhelming Strike, Sundering, Exploit, Death from Afar, Coming Calamity.

These are just a few but I wanted to give examples as you don't have to have the same Notables as me. There are better options out there!

You'll need at 1 Unset Ring to fit all of the Skill Gems Shown Here!

You'll use Lightning Spear as your main clear skill. With Embitter, you'll be able to Freeze enemies to activate Herald of Ice for some nice added clear speed. We'll still have enough Lightning Damage to activate Herald of Thunder as well.

Herald of Ice can Break Armor thanks to Uul-Netol's Embrace and sources of Chaos Damage such as Gain Extra Damage as Chaos from Heart of the Well and the Fenumus' Rune of Agony. This combined with Armour Break III will give us a chance for Endurance Charges when Herald of Ice Breaks Armor and convert those into Frenzy Charges with Resonance!

Thunderous Leap can be used every 20 seconds to refresh the Bhatair's Vengeance buff to ensure we maintain enough Extra Damage as Cold. We'll use this skill on Bosses to create Shocked Ground as well.

Fury of the Mountain is what we use on a Second Weapon Set to generate Frenzy Charges for Boss Fights. Just spam this skill on Bosses or before the fight to generate Frenzy Charges.

Explosive Spear is for Bossing once we have Frenzy Charges from Fury of the Mountain. Chuck it at the bosses feet and watch them evaporate.

Eternal Rage will ensure we have Max Rage for 30% More Damage! Berserk will increase this effect up to 52% More Damage, just be sure to have Flat Life Regeneration to ensure it doesn't kill you!

Ghost Dance and Wind Dancer are used to bolster our Defenses by providing Energy Shield on when Hit and More Evasion Rating. Gale Force from Wind Dancer will activate when hit to cause an explosion which will Freeze enemies to activate Herald of Ice for some emergency clear.

Meditate is from the Invoker Ascendancy and will allow you to Hold a Button to recover Energy Shield. You could use Convalescence if wanted but this is needed if using Headhunter.

Purity of Fire is from the Sacred Flame and ANY Spirit Gems you put in the slots of it DO NOT use Spirit! Use these slots to get tons of free buffs such as Precision II, Cool Headed, Clarity II, etc....

Main Skill Points:

You'll take Flow Like Water for the Attack Speed, Crashing Wave for the Critical Hit Chance, and Mindful Awareness for the EV/ES. Grab Immaterial and Shimmering for increased EV/ES and Movement Speed. Take Resonance to convert any Endurance Charges into Frenzy Charges.

Take Spectral Ward for a nice boost to Energy Shield, take Chaos Inoculation for Chaos Immunity, and Abasement for Stun Threshold. You can take Shimmering Mirage if you find yourself getting Frozen a lot. Path up and grab Patient Barrier and Ingenuity (If Needed) for the BIG boost to Energy Shield and Int.

Using the From Nothing with Dance with Death, take The Wild Cat for EV/Deflect, Acceleration for Skill Speed and Movement Speed, Precise Point and Roll and Strike for Spear DPS.

Grab Essence of the Mountain for Freeze Buildup and a little more Cold Damage. Take High Alert for a BIG increase to Stun Threshold and Evasion.

Take Subterfuge Mask for a HUGE boost to Evasion. Grab Heartbreaking, Struck Through, and Heartstopping for Critical Hit Chance and Critical Damage Bonus. Be sure to get Enhanced Reflexes, Beastial Skin, and Proficiency (If Needed) for tons of Evasion, Deflection, and Dexterity. Grab Stupefy and Dizzying Hits for a big DPS and Crit increase and to increase the value of our Time-Lost Sapphire. Take The Fabled Stag to make our Charges last longer and boost our Time-Lost Sapphire.

Weapon Set 1:

Take Moment of Truth for the Critical Hit Chance and Critical Damage Bonus. Grab True Strike, For the Jugular, and Deadly Force for the Critical Hit Chance and Critical Damage Bonus. Get Killer Instinct and Tenfold Attacks for a BIG Attack Damage and Attack Speed boost.

Take Careful Assassin for the BIG boost to Critical Hit Chance. Grab Blinding Strike for an Attack Damage boost and Chance to Blind. Get Imbibed Power for a BIG Attack Damage boost since we have Lavianga's Spirits so we have 24/7 flask effect.

Weapon Set 2:

Take Flow State increased Skill Speed in Bear form. Grab Conservative Casting for Mana Cost Efficiency while in Bear form. Take Agile Succession and the small nodes for Increased Attack Speed. Take Frenetic, Savagery, and Fervour to increase our Max Frenzy Charges.

Ascendancy:

Take Lead me through Grace... for your first Ascendancy to give Spirit based on the EV/ES on your Body Armor. Then get Sunder my Enemies... to allow us to ignore Elemental Resistances when we Critically Hit. Grab Faith is a Choice to allow us to Recharge Energy Shield on demand. Lastly, pick I am the Blizzard... for a Cold Damage boost to help proc Herald of Ice.

Atlas Tree

This is my current Map Farming Juice strat. If you're not doing Temple, Abyss is the next best thing outside of farming for Splinters.
